Abstinence-only Sex Education Does Not Work

What makes more sense: Teaching our children that sex is a normal, healthy, natural part of life, or preaching that any sexual activity outside the confines of heterosexual marriage will have negative psychological, physical, and social consequences?

  • trolleyfan, on 09/19/2008, -0/+1Why, Sarah Palin even did us the service of testing the hypothesis "does abstinence only work" on her own daughter. And proved, quite convincing I might add, um, "hell no..."

    But, being an delusional right-wing idiot - sorry, Fundamentalist Republican - she of course rejected the results over her own test.
  • harley0207, on 09/20/2008, -0/+0Agree strongly with trolleyfan. Thanks Ms. Palin for the convincing evidence that the theory as proposed does not work. I have the good fortune to be able to work on a daily basis with special needs teens. Many have some real issues in their lives... autism, MR, MH, abuse history, etc... These teens, and the teens that used to live in my own house, consistently prove that teens are driven to do what feels good. Time and time again. It is simple human nature.
