Donnie went into hiding and created virtual world called People Berg that was like a second life parody (...he created it using photoshop, and photoshop plug ins he created with photoshop) where he could interact with fake people since he couldn't interact with real ones. Then the world gets taken over by hackers and they banned him. They never explained how the legal situation resolved itself, but since he was basically just squatting in a house, the situation didn't really have long term repercussions.
