Now I'm really board.
- matrox212, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Any danger of fire?
- ZapWizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13They missed mine:

- Svoma15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Pfft, Who cares, It just looks amazing!
- msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6great post. I think they are beautiful. But yeah, there is probably a much higher chance of fire. I wouldn't overclock these either.
- cube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i cant help but think "scrabble" when i look at the wooden keyboards
- victorycig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yeah some of these are really beautiful. The tower with the sliding doors is especially impressive.
Some, however, are at least as boxy and ugly as their metal and plastic comrades. - breakneckridge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Original wooden Apple I

I think computer manufacturers should release more creative models like this, maybe a futuristic looking stainless steel computer.. or maybe some crazy lasers :)
- fingiecrookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yours is the nicest, hands down. Awesome stuff, man!
- Bigcat1021, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So...who should I talk to about getting a woody?
- silkworm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, plastics burn too. Wood ignites at 233C. Computers don't get that hot.
- trisomy21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wastern, do you have many leather-bound books?
- rabiddogma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3So this is what computers would have looked like if they had been around in the Victorian age.
- agarc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I totally agree. It's like something old men would get in their luxury car. Wood trim, steering wheel, shifter. Nasty. To each their own, I guess. Yuck. :)
- hankmt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thanks for the tip Zap, we added it in.
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My computer smells of rich mahogany
- Mr.Glass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i want one of those wooden keyed keyboards. awesome.
- fyre2012, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is that anything like the blackberry Shane from Survivor has?

- djblast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nice, you even got the iWood going on...
got any trees left in your backyard? - rewritable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3no, I made one for my a family member last year and they could have a media center comp without making their living room look wierd with a normal computer case. I just installed some quieter fans, a video capture card and another 200 GB HDD last month for them and they have been very pleased with it and to my understanding they use all the time so no fear of fire but that also depends on the person makng one since a careless person prolly wouldn't think to much about that.
- xinul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2someone got a very good grade in wood shop
- PayneX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Those wooden mice look fabulous! Makes the Mighty Mouse look so 1997.
I can seriously see this becoming a trend in PC's. - Pigglesworth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ironic. The first every Apple was housed in a wooden case. Things have finally come full circle. Doesn't the keyboard look great!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very cool stuff. Execu-like.
- dilg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can really appreciate the craftsmanship that went into these machines, but I'm with you on the stuffy old man reclining in his study with a glass of scotch while surfing the Internet on his humidor PC for Hemingway collectibles - vibe going on.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I remember, long ago, seeing the project progress logs of these projects, glad to see them finally finished and getting credits, though I can't say I'd go for a wooden computer.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Wood is too good for cheap, disposable electronics that become obsolete in a couple of years.
- szelij, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Woo expensive. I don't need that to play FEAR...but damn that keyboard is nice.
- goffy59, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats just great! Lol

+digg - Kev1000000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is very beautiful! I saw this in my Maximum PC mag the other day. I loved it then, and i still love it. The case looks fantastic!
- axecore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bet it feels nice on the skin
- AnnaHom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow, this is some good stuff
- cbrack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are you friends with Merlin Olson? Does he come over on occasion?
- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1looks like a real nice gift for someone
- breakneckridge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nobody said they were.
- UnderLoK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I keep thinking I am looking at a piano when I see hands on the wooden keyboard...

- ZapWizard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for including me.
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That computer has wood.
- thewayne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Come on guys. The wires inside will melt before the temperature is high enough to cause the wood to burn.
I do a lot of woodworking and have a lot of experiences with woods. - DarkHack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm, if winter come around again, and you ran out of money to pay for the heating bills, this will be useful for in the fireplace.
LOL
Anyway, it look alright... - gabeN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"My computer smells of rich mohogony" [/ronburgundy]
- hunter186, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's funny...I built a wooden case for my machine a few months back, and I spent quite a while online looking at other people's work. There really isn't a whole lot out there. These photos were about all that I managed to find on my own.
That being said, after building the case I realized why. I love working with wood, but its not a great material for computer cases. It can be a real pain in the ass to get to ports, as the wood requires a certain amount of thickness to strength. Basically it was just a very long process, even for my simple case. I love it though, and it catches everyones attention.
For the record, fire shouldn't be a problem, but that's what everyone asks. When you figure that (on average) wood would need to reach over 400 degrees C. to burn, it's pretty unlikely that you'd have problems. Cooling takes a bit more care, as wood insulates better than aluminum. -
