Ultimate Web 2.0 Layer Styles - Free Download
dezinerfolio.com — Photoshop Layer Styles are the easiest way to speed up the design process. I found a lot of styles on the Web to download but none of them were of the today ’s trend of Web 2.0. So here is a set of 131 Photoshop Layer Styles I created in .ASL ( Photoshop Layer Style ) format.

- autoblog, on 10/12/2007, -17/+11,000 Web 2.0's Software list grouped by Audio 2.0, Video 2.0 .... ! http://garantat.net/web2.htm
- sickswaystop, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31can't really complain about free layers, thanks man!
- vare2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Agreed. Web 2.0 or not, one appreciates a good layer when one sees one.
- motion2, on 10/12/2007, -41/+1i dont know if this is a good or bad thing.. design is a skill that takes years to master, and giving up your work for free like this kind of devalues our skill trade..
hmm..- jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39I'm sure that 95% of people out there wouldn't even know how to load styles into photoshop much less use them to generate a standards compliant, search engine optimized site.
- element21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Lots of people will appreciate these - I for one find them a great time saver. rather than having to do the same layer style effects over and over individually on my crap computer. like jer2eydevil88 said if they don't know how to load the styles its not really devaluing anyones skill trade... its not like layer styles are difficult skills to master anyway
- Beaver6813, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yea, its good for people who just design the odd thing when they have to, not for full-time designers (they would make their own stuff if they were any good).
- nahdan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30if you think that a couple of shiny button presets is the embodiment of your design skills, then you've got bigger things to worry about than someone giving away layer styles.
- smackhero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5no, you're just a stingy person and a ***** designer. helping others and sharing tips/resources/techniques doesn't devalue one's skills, it just shows that you're a generous person willing to help others and contribute to the online community. that is what makes the internet so great.
these are simple resources that will help other designers create their own original deisgns. if you think that applying these layer styles will automatically generate a good looking design then you're clearly not very experienced with graphic design. graphic designers have always shared resources and design techniques and tips with each other. that's why there are so many sites out there for designers to share photoshop brushes, styles, tutorials, and other resources. the open source community is also based on this idea of sharing and mutual learning.
your petty attitude is really quite sad. developing and improving your skills by learning from one another is the best way to grow as a designer. thinking that not helping or sharing with others makes your skills more valuable and holding a hording mentality towards artistic skills is simply pathetic. if that's the kind of person you are, you probably don't contribute anything to the graphic design community, and you will never be respected by the community. frankly, if you're that petty, you probably don't have very strong talents or skills to begin with. those who've established themselves as strong designers or good artists usually aren't afraid of helping others.
- mattsfolio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5These are great! Thanks =)
- sofimi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Why are you giving a thumbs down to a "thank you" comment??
- thopunk, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1*****. i released a similar thing a year ago. no diggs. awesome.
www.blirk.com - motion2, on 10/12/2007, -29/+1I'm talking about graphic design, not standard compliant, search engine optimized sites..
this guy simply copied styles from several "web 2.0" sites and is giving them away for free. Coming up with the right colours, gradients, shapes, and layouts takes hours of work and years for the trend to develop (started around 2004).
Oh well, i guess it's no different than the business cycle, web 2.0 has passed its peak and now its in decline mode, i guess web 2.0 design isn't so innovative anymore if someone can simply mass produce it. Everything is a commodity now-a-days, including art. Eventually every website will have these repeating colour gradient schemes, and this will kill the demand of this style, web 2.0 will be overplayed, and people giving away this style for free is a sign of what's to come..- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27Oh please, just stop. You're a douche. Stop with this I'm a holier than thou designer and it takes SKILL to design a website. Give me a break and everyone else. Get off your high horse you douche.
- psyjoniz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Nocturnal is right. it takes real talent to do anything worthwhile on the net. not just graphic design skillz, motion2.
- NoNamesLeft, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3motion2, you're talking *****, quit attempting to justify your dribbling ranting unless you can give everyone here evidence of a current, original design done by yourself which doesn't have any web 2.0 elements whatsoever (gradients, rounded edges, colours, layout etc). It must also be a business or commercial site (not some student type showcase website where it's no holds barred on design anyway) and fully standards compliant. Also, it must not suck whatsoever.
No?
Well then shut up. - smackhero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4people have always given away resources for web development/web design for free. some people just like to share their talents and help others. the open source community is based on the same attitude. i don't see how this is an indicator that web 2.0 is in decline. it's a set of trends and technologies which have become widely adopted because much of it is very useful and has changed the face of web applications and online services. it's not likely that we'll go back to pre-web 2.0 trends and just ditch rich and responsive interfaces and social web applications.
- Finovski, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7Thanks for sharing this!
- nobodyiscertain, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Bravo sir.
Let's take this storm by boarding up the windows and doors.
Cause we're already dead. - johnIRL, on 10/12/2007, -13/+4GIMP FOREVER!! : )
- tallinn, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Awesome! Thanx.
- fLUx1337, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5This is NOT Web 2.0
Flickr, Digg, YouTube...etc...THEY are Web 2.0, none of this plastic *****! This is what wannabe desgners with no imagination think everyone likes!
Web 2.0 ISN'T the look of websites, its how you interact with sites, how sites are coded (CSS is a must now).....and so on...
They LOOK nice, dont get me wrong, but who acctully wants ALL websites to look like that?? - WoollyMittens, on 10/12/2007, -8/+610000 ways to make the same lickable buttons I'm beginning to hate with such a passion. Maybe the next design trend will be steampunk or something?
- erietta, on 04/15/2008, -1/+3Love it...but does anyone know of the origin of the "web 2.0" glassy style?
- psyjoniz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5i'm going to guess mac..?
- jeriqo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3aqua
- iaglu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Al Gore made it up.
- psyjoniz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4great set of styles. thank you much :)
- DeathnLife, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Thanks for linking to this site, if you check out the links at the side, under 'most popular' it's got some really nice other web design tools.
- sandig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11From the same guy:
http://www.dezinerfolio.com/2007/03/14/ultimate-web-20-gradients-free-download/ - Bigpizza, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3http://www.duggmirror.com/design/Ultimate_Web_2_0_Layer_Styles_Free_Download
- Corrupt13, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0To be honest these styles aren't hard to create from scratch.
All needs doing then is making them into a layer style yourself, that way only the ones your actually going to use are cluttering screen space.
Plus their then slightly more original than everyone else. - syxle, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Honestly...
...I don't give a ***** about web 2.0.- strictnein, on 11/01/2007, -1/+16Well then get off a site that is decidedly "Web 2.0".
You're probably one of those people that, like the poster, thinks that "Web 2.0" is all about how a site looks.
Here's some of the main parts:
User generated content
Sharing of content
Standards compliant web pages
Social
Users (typically) exert some control over the website (see Digg and HD-DVD)
Minor parts:
tagging
RSS
It is not:
Shiny buttons
"Beta"
Adsense - smackhero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2if you're not a web developer, then just don't click on links that are aimed at web developers. we don't give a ***** that you don't give a ***** about web 2.0
- strictnein, on 11/01/2007, -1/+16Well then get off a site that is decidedly "Web 2.0".
- gcod, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2these are cool, thanks for sharing
- phractured, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I wonder if people know things besides gloss contribute to web 2.0
- purrp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1@phractured: Of course... rounded corners!
- Mearn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1and gradients!
- briankealer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Does this work in CS3? Can't seem to import the ASL.
- Mistaxe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Use google: "Importing ASL +CS3"
- lgwin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Like free tools? Check out ScratchYourself.com and add a virtual scratch card to your site - custom create it with your own pictures, captions, etc. Really cool and builds viral traction!
- hobogeek, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Is it just me or is the glassy look really starting to get tiresome?
- SniperX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't know what everyone is complaining about. As long as it's easy to read, and gets me from page A to B, i'm good.
- LionFlight, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0this collection of 3d auto images is pretty sweet too: http://www.dezinerfolio.com/2007/04/28/the-best-cars-3d-artwork-and-illustrations/#more-359
- derkles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Web 2.0 is so duplo.
- lilSears, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm still wondering what web 2.0 is.
- h0dg3s, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1There is no "Web 2.0"
It's a term made up by morons who don't understand how the internet works.
marked as spam
- h0dg3s, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1There is no "Web 2.0"
- badmephisto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3To use the Styles,
download the file
open Photoshop, go to Edit> Preset Manager > select Styles from drop-down, and click Load. navigate to file. Click done
Then go to Window > Styles
this should open up a pane with all your styles. Now create a rectangle or something in new layer, and just click the style that you want to apply - plasmosis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1TOTALLY RAD MAN! I WANT TO MAKE L♥VE TO THIS GUY!
- h4xnoodle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Correction: All the BAD designers put 'beta' next to everything and use 'beta' excessively.
- Ascendancy5, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0They all look so professional, very nicely done.
- Massandro, on 10/31/2007, -1/+0Thanks, pretty looking buttons )
