- Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16And a collective traffic whoring list.
Could you be a bit less lazy next time please coxis and actually include some commentary? Anyone and their mom can whip up these lists just by going to Technorati/9Rules/etc and scrolling down the list throwing in anything that doesn't look *****.
Some commentary would go along way towards proving that you did something other than this. Marked as Spam, because that's what this is, let's be honest. These articles are just about promoting your own website. - Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Too true. This isn't a "best designs" list, this is a "popular blogs that have good web designs" list.
- torunforever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11If anyone's interested, here's the reason why this made the front page.
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=86514&page=18#postcount1085025
A bunch of people get together and digg each other's submissions. I'm not saying if it's wrong or right, but just letting you know. - AndyVenus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Some pretty nice designs their but seeing as there are tons of blogs out there I am sure that there are some even better designs that are not on the list.
- anonymousguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This is a pretty underwhelming compilation. It showcases a website (http://www.fahlstad.se/) that looks suspiciously identical to http://www.bartelme.at ... Design thievery?
Anyway, there are much better sites such as webcreme.com and cssbeauty.com - nitr021, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i marked this as spam thanks
- canadianguy33, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12What a ***** SPAM digg.
Take off the blinders and recognize that http://paulstamatiou.com/ wouldn't be on a list titled "Top 200,000 Blog Designs" because it sucks. - ThrasherC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Coming next week -- top web server designs to avoid the Digg effect when posting top blog designs!
- dizzledaking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yeah! More top X lists please! I just can't get enough of these. I've already confessed my addiction in another article, but let me reiterate: I love these lists. Well, not this one in particular.
What's really hilarious is the top X top X lists. People have taken the time to rank their favorite top X lists! It's astounding! Who knew that when the "information superhighway" was first started, we'd be using it to read lists of top 20 blog designs! It's great!
The day I'm REALLY waiting for is top X top X top X lists. Imagine the fun! The excitement! The feeling of sheer helplessness when you realize you are absolutely hooked!
For those who share my addiction: A simple search for top X (X should usually be divisible evenly by 5) will be like stumbling upon a huge mountain of pure fishscale to a coke head. Digg v3... thank you. Thank you so very much. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Here is the list:

http://www.breakerdesign.com/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4oh that's just wrong. digg should ban every user in that thread and their websites
- yanathin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hmm... www.ifizzle.com is a blog, and it looks like a heck of a lot more time went into that than the other blogs on that list.
Don't get me wrong though, those blogs on there really do look fantastic. - Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4is it bad that i was looking for a mushroom and a fire flower in the nuwem theme?
- theCr3ator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So people download a template from Wordpress or moveabletype change some CSS around and they are great designers. wtf. I guess all the people who put some rims and add a sub to their cars are now custom car builders.
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5holy crap a good deal of those are hideous
- JakeMcMahon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I created my own favorite blog design. Just a simple bit of css:
body {display: none;} - lightdifference, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2dude. whoever dugg this is an idiot. This guy is a freakin' traffic whore. And for those who care, most of the blogs suck (well, except for paul and wolfgang's).
- coxis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3We browse our gallery and choose this best websites: http://cssbloom.com/
- vvaduva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Top 20 Blog Designs Part 2"
Wouldn't that make it Top 40 Blog Designs? How many Top 20s parts are there? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2actually that's not true. several blogs in that list are custom. i know for a fact that that paulstamat.. site is custom php and css, no template/theme used.
- Bloodwine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I know that MSIE is the redheaded stepchild of the internets, but several of those on the list don't render even remotely correct in MSIE. As much as geeks love Firefox and Opera, if a design doesn't work in MSIE it should be considered broken.
- diggmatter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cheers to that! My site is on that list and I designed it from the ground up.
- theCr3ator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Was not debating wether or not the sites are nice I was pointing out that 90% of the sites on your list are basic templates that required little or no design from the bloggers themselves. Now if your article was titled here are the best designed templates to download along with a few sites that took those templates to another level.... that would be a more realistic interpretation.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2haha this was a part 2, someone mentioned the link for part one earlier in the comments
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree with bioshocker, ifizzle is super-sweet, but only in a proof of concept sort of way. I couldn't imagine if I actually had to visit that site daily for anything of value. Would make a much better web app than blog, but still, very nice.
- coxis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Yee but maybe they are on this list, part one: http://silentbits.com/?p=339
If not, well maybe Part 3 in future :) - MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I ahet to say this, but anyone can blog about the best blog designs. I can list 10 right off my head that are great.
And I woul din no way call any of the blogs you listed as "best". - timberfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Better lists (IMHO):
http://www.cssreboot.com
http://csselite.com/gallery/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3In that case this site is the best of the bunch: http://paulstamatiou.com
he says his homepage is under 30kB and he optimized his apache/mysql - Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Haha and there's the smoking gun.
- JakeMcMahon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@coxis
Would you like buy stereo? - Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If you make a Part 3, please just keep it to yourself. Your sense of good design is so poor, it would be funny, if it weren't for you commenting on the article itself saying how you didn't mind that one of the sites you have listed is a rip of someone else's site.
- Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1With Technorati boasting that it indexes 30 million blogs, I think we're in for a lot more parts than 8 before this guy gets bored of spamming Digg.
- coxis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I don't like it :P
- l3viathan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While I never considered my blog (Fortress Studios) to be the "top" anything, I can at least say it is completely custom from the backend to the design.
- coxis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ehh this is a gallery only, like others....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im hooked on blogs now, this should be cool!
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2yes, THANK you, most of the ones on this article are really weak.
- Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah some of them can't even decide whether they are using matte, plain colors, color gradients, or shiny, glossy plastic colors. So they used all three!
- McMultiverse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I swear I've read this same article with the same sites on a different blog about a millions times before. Bad memory or time paradox? Hmmm. No digg.
- GlassCasket, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1/me waits for part 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8....
- coxis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3NOT TRUE. Almost 50 diggs from people and about 5 from this forum.
- krisper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sigh - I haven't done any web design since the days when all-Flash was the hot thing of the week, and I thought THAT was complicated. Now it seems almost impossible to ever get caught back up with the technology, and the vastly broader requirements for browser compatibility. These are some great looking sites though!
- coxis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bioshocker 3, or 4 comments from you that i spam.
What is wrong with you, you are bored or what.
If you don't like it don't use it.
I spend some time to create this two list. Many poeple that don't browse blogs say many thanks to me for that.
Like i said, don't like it , don't use it !!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't see anything close to enough similarity to call one a rip of the other, though Bartelme's design is decidedly superior. They both happen to be using a similar layout, but in blog terms, that isn't anything terribly new. It's quite difficult to make a blog feel like it isn't exactly that.
- Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hmm ifizzle is VERY technically impressive, but I find it pretty annoying to actually use.
- coxis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1For now only 2. This is not automaton.
- JakeMcMahon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Muahahah
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2They all suck quite bad.
- Bioshocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh the irony of a spammer complaining that his spam posting is getting spammed by someone else.
I figured holding up a mirror was the most effective way of letting you see how annoying you are. Maybe I am bored, but then these comments took me, what, about 5 minutes to write in total? Probably about as long as you and your "team" took writing that post. -
