- sdrawkcabton88, on 01/18/2009, -21/+168$99.00 for a font.
I can see paying a buck for a song, but a hundred for a font is just ridiculous. - jggube, on 01/18/2009, -4/+107I wish I was a "desigre", it sounds cool. :)
- booshack, on 01/18/2009, -5/+98Sorry to be a nazi, but that would be "If you *were* a desigre".
- mysn239, on 01/18/2009, -2/+86Most overused font = Papyrus
- Greg2k, on 01/18/2009, -4/+73Helvetica could kick their asses any day.
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -5/+73Not if you're a designer.
- Angostura, on 01/18/2009, -3/+58Buried since this is basically just an ad for some of the fonts they carry.
- geardosdotnet, on 01/18/2009, -1/+51font costs get included in your design cost.. Someone wants a logo with a certain design, they pay for the font...
- alliallialli, on 01/18/2009, -3/+47My greatest fear is that Papyrus may be the new Comic Sans.
- Greg2k, on 01/18/2009, -4/+43You accidentally English
- oblivian92, on 01/18/2009, -3/+40Yea! No Comic Sans!
- NathanCH, on 01/18/2009, -4/+40I torrent my fonts. But if I had to pay for professional fonts, I would. It's well worth it.
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -4/+40Uhh what? I'm not a font designer.
- billizm, on 01/18/2009, -1/+33You could always try to become on.
- richirwin, on 01/18/2009, -0/+31My favorite is Irwin Sans Pants.
- googooly, on 01/18/2009, -1/+30Then you are going to love $9000 Adobe Font Folio
- perryc, on 01/18/2009, -14/+41Typography becomes on of the most important things of 2009. If you are a desigre, you'd know why!
- SlpingInsomniac, on 01/18/2009, -5/+32Sorry to be a Nazi, but that period comes before the end of quotes. (Ex. "quote.")
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -3/+28Courier wins for the 60th year in a row
- dehmann, on 01/18/2009, -0/+24Wait, I'm not a designer, so why is typography becoming one of the most important things of 2009?
- pwine, on 01/18/2009, -4/+28How many is "on"?
- UKsHaDoW, on 01/18/2009, -2/+23Prepare for your mind to be blown.
Some fonts costs thousands. Especially if your buying as a company font. - jason210, on 01/18/2009, -2/+23well when you are doing typography spelling seems a tad important.
- andrewlotta, on 01/18/2009, -5/+25God forbid English isn't his first language.
- seantubridy, on 01/18/2009, -6/+26"My greatest fear is that Papyrus may be the new Comic Sans."
Really? My greatest fear is that mankind will destroy ourselves but you go ahead and worry about trivial crap like that. - Netrilix, on 01/18/2009, -0/+19Personally, I prefer the British style of placing the punctuation outside of the quotation marks. It's far more accurate in that it does not imply the period was present in the original context. Regardless of your opinion on the matter, both methods are valid English. You're not a very good Nazi.
- Neptin, on 01/18/2009, -2/+20free fonts please!
- LR2_, on 01/18/2009, -0/+18It's $2,600 and it includes over 2300 professional fonts.
http://www.adobe.com/products/fontfolio/ - magus824, on 01/18/2009, -0/+17technically type-faces, not fonts - fonts delineate size and weight and style, type-face describes just the letters themselvs
- UKsHaDoW, on 01/18/2009, -3/+20Font designers are usually specialist.
Some people devote there lives typography and calligraphy.
I'm Computer Scientist yet I find it interesting how just changing a font can change a design around for the better. - ileftfark, on 01/18/2009, -0/+16Pointing out the obvious, yet it still cannot be stressed enough.
- CarbonXe, on 01/18/2009, -4/+20I've never seen a point to fonts like "Floralissimo."
- cugar, on 01/18/2009, -6/+21what about gotham, the font used for obama's campaign, id put it as a top 10 font of 08
- emotecontrol, on 01/18/2009, -1/+16The whole language?
- my10cent, on 01/18/2009, -2/+16Buried for being nothing than a sales pitch, all these fonts leads to the same URL where they are being sold.
- Menorius, on 01/18/2009, -7/+21Buried for being a ad
- Tricycles, on 01/18/2009, -3/+17Look up a type foundry and appreciate the amount of talent and detail that goes into a typeface. Years are spent developing them. That's like having a carpenter build your house, and saying "what $99 for a house? no thanks."
- mrpatrickg, on 01/18/2009, -10/+23a great guide of what fonts to look for, for free.
cause who would pay for a font? - IceOfDiamonds, on 01/19/2009, -0/+13sorry to be a nazi, but i hate jews
- GodsTwin, on 01/18/2009, -0/+13A buck for a song? Outrageous!
- kadio, on 01/18/2009, -1/+13what is this 1998? i only ever see this stuff in ancient spreadsheets that the company i work for uses to business critical applications. comic sans is the mullet of fonts.
- imacmike, on 01/19/2009, -0/+12Someone who removes signs.
- peterjmag, on 01/19/2009, -0/+12It's ridiculous how often I see that ***** font... Almost every "foreign" restaurant and store in town uses it as a logo, and somehow they think that they suddenly look "cultural" as a result. I saw a menu in a small Chinese restaurant recently that used a mix of Papyrus and Comic Sans. Even worse, some of the student org materials I got at my university had body text that was entirely 11 or 12pt Papyrus...
*shudder* - bdwoolman, on 01/18/2009, -0/+11Yup. How right you are. And it is not a trivial distinction. But often confused. The typeface is, say, Helvetica. The font is Helvetica, 10 pt, Bold. Much more important in the days before we all became typesetters. But a nice distinction nonetheless.
- isiz, on 01/18/2009, -0/+11I'm not a "desigre" by any means, but at least I know my way around Photohop...
- richirwin, on 01/18/2009, -2/+12You broke my spell-checker.
- zeeky, on 01/18/2009, -0/+10Floralissimo should be a photoshop brush
- JonLatane, on 01/18/2009, -1/+10Sorry to be a Nazi, but you completely misspelled "I am illiterate." Still got the point across, though, so no worries.
- Angostura, on 01/18/2009, -0/+8... he wrote, eschewing the usual initial capital.
