- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+49Try reading the entire splash screen of creators when you open PS. If you can do it before the screen disappears, get a new computer.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18seetharaman narayanan rocks!
http://www.ironicsans.com/2006/09/interview_seetharaman_narayanan.html - snakesonasam, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13i was hoping for pictures of Photoshops capabilities throughout its history
- mannymix03, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11i believe it is actually the history of Adobe® Photoshop® image editing software
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13There's a splash screen?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Here a great related article and possibly a download link for Photoshop 1.0:

EDIT: I found some extra pics at the wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Photoshop - funsutton, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Actually every time I fire up photoshop, I think of all of the money I spent on it.
- savingaurora, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8every time i fire it up i think...well i'm happy i didn't spend any money on this...
- Daniel591992, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7oh yeah, well I use the photoshop!
- jay0312, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Haha, your "copy" of Photoshop.
Tricky... - savingaurora, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5kinda makes me feel bad for pirating this software...
- eatbeefjerky, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5All of you get super angry about having to pay for Photoshop but it's one of those things where I will pay the price (particularly with student discounts... yay!) for because I know 1) You can't "lip sync" good coding and 2) The money is actually going to pay those programmers.
- Rfriaz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Ah, Seetharaman Narayanan; I remember Googling him one time and having my mind blown when Google gave me results :o
- twrife, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That's a very interesting article.
@DestroyFascism
But honestly, who here buys it? ;-) - DestroyFascism, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I think its wayyyy too expensive!
- pokjob, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Thank goodness for bit torrent -- saved me a bundle
- crazybugger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Is that so. I use Adobe® Photoshop® Software
- jebaird, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2who needs Photoshop when you have mspaint !
- anjinash, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Thanks for sharing. Have a cookie.
- slpz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Oh you'll have time to spare plenty of thoughts while it's loading.
- dougbarrett, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Let's all write George Lucas a thank you letter!
- markdr123, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@rabidstrike:
Ah, that puts a face to the name that I see every time I boot up Photoshop 7. Thanks. - reddevil3, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Don't pirate software....a lot of effort goes into software especially one as good as photoshop.
Besides, if you guys really are "professionals" you can afford it. For most of you I guess GIMP would work fine. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That Photoshop logo made my day :)
- glialisback, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I started "borrowing" it around version 5.5 through 6. Once I learned it and started making money with it, I bought it. Rather, the organizations I work for have paid for it. It is expensive, but so are my rates :-) If you're not using it professionally to earn a living, then I don't think it really maters. But if you are, pony up cowboy.
- DestroyFascism, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@twrife I got creative suite as a student discount, I kinda had to. If I had to pay retail for this as a webweaver, considering what I earn for my efforts, there is no way I can afford it even with a tax return...
- markdr123, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm not getting this. How can you reply to rabidstrike instead of just Rfriaz?
Weird. - savingaurora, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2def i agree with you. but honestly (same with final cut pro) if i'm just doing it on legiure time i wont pay for it but if eventually i would be making money off of something i def will buy it no problem...i guess my morals are pretty ***** up
- cesig, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This article is about Photoshop. Are they Photoshop?
- ptsd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1the article could have at least named the programs that they copied to make photoshop....dick shoups superpaint, alvy smiths paint systems, and mark leathers layerpaint.
- mwmccullough, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1After looking at the Photoshops through the ages, I'm glad that they didn't try to fix what wasn't broken. That classic layout that is soooo easy on the eyes, I feel comfortable every time I fire it up, after seeing Seetha's name of course.
- Resilient, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1A great insight. Thanks for sharing!
- pr0t0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1My first Photoshop was 2.0 and it was very limited. You had one undo and no layers. Needless to say you really didn't want to make a mistake or do too much exploring with your art. I remember when 3.0 came out with layers and that was big deal. I think it still had only one undo, but you could create a new layer each time you wanted to try something.
- kirkness, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Thomas Knoll holding it down.
- MrSarcasm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1yeah, we just use GIMP. We need it for our MAD PICTURE RESIZING SKILLZ
- mwmccullough, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Thanks a lot for the Seetha link, that name has haunted me since, oh, before you were born. NARAYANAN FOREVER!
- msephton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The evolution of the Photoshop toolbar: http://photoshopnews.com/feature-stories/photoshop-tool-bars/
- Optimaximal, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I thought Narayanan was a Prodigy song
- jstem1994, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I started w/ 4.0 and now on CS, with a copy of CS2 ready to go when I rebuild my computer next week... (FINALLY moving up from the XP1800 to 64bit)
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Check out the first version of PS: http://creativebits.org/the_first_version_of_photoshop
- MikeTheC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Most cool. Thanks for the link. I guess I, too, am a Photoshop addict. Most cool to have a face and a background to go with that guy's name. It's also cool to know what gender the person with that name is.
- crossers, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0history of photoshop? interesting, cause I know only CS and CS2 haha

http://www.chasr.org/ - MikeTheC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Really? Well, what exactly do you think it's worth?
- Stormen, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1You guys are so at loss for history... First Photoshop version? C'mon, gimme a break. Ever heard of Deluxe Paint I or III in the 80s? Or of the highly improved Brilliance? Brilliance was big before Photoshop ever got it's mainstream-break, back in 92-93...
- MasterThief117, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2I don't know about you all, but I enjoy using ImagePro.
- cjpro, on 10/11/2007, -10/+1The article doesn't mention how to get the latest version with a nice discount. Buried as lame.
- crushfan, on 10/11/2007, -10/+0Nobody uses Photoshop.
