- StarCrusher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+62For $2300? Give me a break! If I had that kind of money, I'd move to a larger apartment!
- harpdog, on 10/12/2007, -5/+37> Yeah, and it doesn't look as easy or safe as they show it to be. I sleep on a queen anyway.
yeah what's his name. - rewritable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30I like that they show upclose how it works, I'll spend $300 and two weekends and have the same damn thing.
- JesseJ, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Ugly, but handy.
- punkdigerati, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21They should make these the stanard in dorm rooms, would create more space
- SuperBob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18I fail to see where there is either $2300 of either engineering, materials or labor.
- RaistlinMajere, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Yep, and no room for a woman (that is, if she didn't flee on seeing it for the first time).
- t3hX, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20OK, $2300? I'd buy myself a new laptop for that.
- gklitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"Doesn't fold, but the ladder is good exercise."
Ah, how the definition of exercise can change when you are sitting at your computer reading digg all day. - CharlesDarwin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10How handy is it really? How many geeks have desks that are as clean and organized as the ones on the site?
- ChazKato, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9yeah, i was thinking the same thing as napkinase... which is what i am doing right now... roll over, pick up the laptop and start working
- H2SO4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I want something to use while in bed........ a projection on the ceiling kind of setup.
- theotheragentm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Let's be honest. That bed is never getting folded down for a true geek. Actually, what geek doesn't sleep with his laptop?
- pruek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8usually the IKEA's breakfast-in-bed table ($30) works.
- BentCorner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6So this is for people short on living space, but with enough money to throw down $2079 on a creepy twin sized bed that turns into a computer desk. It does seem to be a good form a birth control. Buy one of these things and the chances of you impregnating a woman drop to 0%.
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Novel idea, but if you're using your bed for your computer desk, why get out of bed?
If space is an issue, and you have a laptop, just have the bed, and a shelf with everything nearby. - Trenton, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yeah, and it doesn't look as easy or safe as they show it to be. I sleep on a queen anyway.
- humblepatience, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6i wish i had that in my dorm, then we'd have room for a couch
college should have this *****
but yeah 2300$? no digg - mumbat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Anyone thought about the wiring? How are you guys going to put your cables around that ugly thing without cutting all of it? Nice idea thought, but my desktop-comp + notebook + printer + 2 screens a.s.o. just don't fit in this "thing".
besides of that, totally overpriced. absolutely no digg for this piece of 2300.-worthy ugliness. - CompWiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4maybe it comes with the laptop and printer...
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3for $2300 bucks there better be some sort of call button for a hooker hidden in that thing...
- Cronus6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I "might" be able to use something like this on my boat... but in normal living conditions it would be damn near worthless.
- Qopax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3get your laptop for only 12 thousand dollars!
http://store.myaopen.com/proso2000.html
I know, I know, it's not really a laptop... - weathersinc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not only is the mattress narrow... anyone notice how the pillows never fall off the bed when it is in the up position?
- superalamar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3and the magical pillows are held to the bed with what force in that animation?
- DrHerbaceous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It kinda looks like both your desk and your bed have to be pretty tidy in order to transfer between the two... Not gonna happen around finals!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Definitly not meant for the "geek". Who would want such a small desk area for that price...
- Camsta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sex? http://www.flyingbeds.com/14.Euro_BunkBed/DeskBed/DeskBed.htm
- phelonius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ive never seen a laptop for 10000$
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah.. just not at the same time...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the design seems so simple you could probably make your own
- shadowsurfr1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4In the last dorm room I stayed in, we can bunk the beds and slip the desk and bureau under. Only thing was, you had to climb up the end or onto the window sill to get in. Either way, it worked fine and gave more room for things such as a refrigerator.
- kevinski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Most of that furniture looks to be rather cheaply made, but I'd definitely want some of those things if they were built better.
- ArchibaldTuttle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks really uncomfortable and small, I wouldn't sleep on it.
- AndyVenus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4If someone gave it to me, I would use it. But I wouldn't ever buy one though.
- mumbat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Right, i forgot the most important thing! Anyways, if you take the average user of that thing, i don't think he/she'll ever have any... (at least not really exciting, "wait wait, my laptop is bouncing off"...rofl
- kingygk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2id rather spend the money on a 50 inch plasma tv :)
- alexcount, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3pfff what happend to the Bed being made ENTIRELY of computers, like that couch made of old mac's.
http://www.davidlegatt.com/images/albums/userpics/10002/mac2couch.jpg
well, that's how my apartment is furnished... - superalamar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah, because once they spend all that money on this stupid thing it will soon dawn on them that they have reached their station in life and will always live in some 500 dollar a month ***** due to bad money management skills.
why not sell a set of gold prostetic legs to a parapalegic so he can have a lap on which to place his laptop?
***** little (futon) matress for a ***** little bed with a ***** little desk and a huge price tag. yeah! - tzahi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2lets see, you are a geek, you are completly drowsy, you get back to bed, kick your 10^4$ laptop by accident, kick yourself for buying the stupid bed, burn bed.
- quanta88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Remember students, this bed is $2300 but milkcrates are free!
- JaggedEdge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not enough room for a tank of a crt monitor i have, HP P910 19 inch....wiring would be a mess too.... its very impractical. I cant even begin to imagine wanting to sleep and having a desk covered in pop cans...
- Flankk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5It makes up for that by convenience, innovation and novelty I guess. It includes the matress, if that helps.
- tehbawb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@superalamar: I had a bed that folded up similar to that and generall the pillows stayed on the bed when I put it up. When it got to the point where the pillows would fall they were already touching the wall, so they didn't drop to the ground.
- Equtious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want one.
- Cyberdactyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Two things. . .
Way WAY overpriced
Second, they all have almost no leg room when a desk - bluemech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's only useful if you have a tiny laptop. If you have a desktop, where are you going to put everything? Moniter cables and power cords would just get tangled up! It's also an ugly and smmall bed. I'd prefer ot have a real computer desk within reach of my bed so I could use it from there.
- Vector713, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, that thing is pretty bad. it looks terribly uncomfortable, and the desk looks kinda dysfunctional
- tidejwe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What a joke at that price! If you are smart this is what you will do. Copy the pictures to your computer, show them to a buddy in a woodshop class and promise to pay him for the wood, hinges, etc and pay him some labor for his work. Then buy your own mattress and TADA! Nowhere near $2,300!!! And as a bonus, your buddy gets an "A" in woodshop!
- OOTay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i dont know if i would trust that thing to support me over my pc...
