- hammerattack, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Great. Whereas companies pay real money for the right to advertise on other peoples private properties, you goons assume you have a right to vandelize and promote the vandelization of personal property.
Get over yourselves already. If you don't like advertising, then don't respond to it like a pavlovian dog. And stop blaming everything on "corporations" - you're just quantifying something you don't understand, which is lame no matter what your politics are. - benmorris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Eh, alrighty. To left wing though. It get's kinda old fast when every single one says "i don't like bush"
- CrashKC, on 08/25/2008, -2/+3Wow. This is the ghey. Way to be a rebel you whiney art-school nerd. Let me go spray paint some Republican slogans on his car and see what he thinks of MY social art project.
Same *****, its just that he didn't pay for his "canvas." - ajamison, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So...Does this means I can put a speech bubble on the ads for his book when it comes out next year?
- doxtorray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Does this mean I can put a bubble on the shirt someone is wearing that says something I disagree with? It's the same principle.
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Chaos12:
But that doesn't help to make it belong on Digg. That's what del.icio.us exists for. Digg is specifically for technology news. - Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Normally, I would have dugg this. But I didn’t this time because "element[0]" submitted this almost a month ago.
http://digg.com/links/Interesting_Speech_Bubble_Art - Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The guy who created this is a ***** genius.
Take a look at some of his other work!
http://pleaseenjoy.com/ - tarun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2illegal activities are awesome!
It might be slightly illegal, but come on! The advertisers get to plaster their marketing campaigns all around us. Shouldn't we be allowed to strike back? I think so.
Extra points for this taking place in NYC. It's a very New York thing.
Digg+++ - SloppyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like the concept... but I don't like how some were just plastered everywhere... on a poster? fine, those'll get pulled down/covered up.. but have some respect and don't put them on things like the sign in the subway or any of that junk.
- _kas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is really cool. I saw this on a stencil website, I think it's clever.
- robotplague, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool. Dugg.
- MattZed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm all for it. digg++

- tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's only one explanation--he's works at GBI (Google Bureau of Investigation).
- craigtheguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Albert is the man! Great digg!
- mikwit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0niceness, Albert how do you find all this stuff?
- phishyJon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome, very cool concept. digg+
- dickmnixon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a great find
- DarkHorizon5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I read this article this morning at work, couldn't find it on homepage a bit ago, and now here it is. yey. Not really vandalism, as it's just a sticker. More vandalism by the person who writes.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That guy needs better handwriting.
+digg - SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Im all for this like *****.
Adbusters for life. - andrewr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The thing that gets me is, THIS IS A DUPE. Please search "Bubble Project" on digg, this was posted over a month ago and only received around 15 diggs, FINALLY proving albert pacino cheats.
- Nyghtewynd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Lame. Vandalism is vandalism. The guy who put these stickers up was probably wearing Tommy, Levis, and Nike while he was on his way to pick up some McDonald's for lunch. And now he wants to write a book. He's not going to *sell* it, is he?
- whalesalad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2lmao i love it that people can ***** cuss whenever they ***** want on this ***** site. Awesome!
- Chaos12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I see your point zora, but the stuff he submits thats non-tech related is interesting and not pointless like other peoples
- bryan8m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hilarious!
- mutant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0excellent
- BxBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome, i hope to see more of these around NYC.. digg++
- mastershake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2this is so stupid.. it looks like theyre all written by the same couple people, and i doubt EVERY person who wrote on them is liberal, its just this guys crappy way of trying to make a statement
- culebra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0yeah, dope! Fight the man!
- instereo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i ***** love it.
- tribalsun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"This is retarded. Why does everyone digg everything this guy posts?"
@ kblowers - Your contribution to the homepage thus far consisted of a "Britney Spears sex tape".
You were saying .... :-/ - jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Very cool.
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@tribalsun:
but kblowers still has a valid point (though he probably wasn't the best person to make it). Why do people digg so much of Albertpacino's posts? Most of them aren't even relevant, but they get dugg anyway (often times just because of who posted it, kinda like with krose's 100% rate) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0A very interesting project but have you looked at his other stuff? Much of it is taking stock photos and putting a corporate logo over it. A marketing guy making fun of marketing? Hmmm
- Chaos12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Because masterzora, unlike you, he posts things that interest people, and people come to digg to see those things, not everything has to be tech related even though its supposed to be.
- dailyclerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This was pretty cool. Now let's see if he cashes in and sells shirts with the bubble. Looks like he'll have a book out as well.
At least it was original. dugg - cooldude127, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think it's funny to see what people write on these things. Sure it's vandalism, but who cares?
- hiway7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1First lock picking, then stealing games and now vandalism.. what the hell is this site about?
- NINJ4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I love this kinda stuff. +digg
- iamsjn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Okay...
This 100% kicks ass! I love when I see this kind of stuff. It's social art on a grand scale. Excellent find and deserving of a digg!
Dugg- - mantid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1exactly, zoomx2. this is just dumb if you think about it, but obviously most people just skip that step and say "genius" since they weren't stupid enough to think of the same idea. this is just giving random people without advertising licenses authority to pollute minds in the EXACT SAME WAY that ads do. how are these bubbles different than ads? hell, some ARE ads! they contain words created by people, only the bubbles can pollute people's minds with ANYTHING. here's a not-so-inaccurate analogy of what this is like, economic factors aside:
"Screw public transportation. It is just people driving us around to where THEY want to go, driven by LICENSED PEOPLE IN AN ORGANIZATION oh noes! and it pollutes the air! to fix that, i'll place 15000 empty cars around new york city so people can go where THEY want! yeah stick it to the man! WE control pollution now! never mind the fact that any random 12-year-old without a license can use the cars, since we all know that pollution will harm someone way before a 12-year-old behind the wheel will!"
sorry this comment is so bitter, but this is just a useless endeavor of the leisure-class. there is a war on breast cancer, a war on AIDS, a war on poverty and hunger going on in the world, but some art-nerd with nothing better to fight against chooses ADS? ***** you art-boy. you have no great war. - mantid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1sorry, it's me again. i just sent this email to the site's creator. feel free to send copies to him.
>>It has come to my attention that you have started a war against public
ads. After viewing your manifesto as well as some of the fruits of
your endeavor, I would like to give you an idea for a new direction
which is in many ways like your current one, only with heavier
economic constraints. It is a war on public transportation. Here is
the manifesto:
"THE VACANT-CAR PROJECT MANIFESTO
Our communal spaces are being overrun with public transportation.
Trains, busses, and subways,
One stop after another, they take us where THEY want to go.
Armed with licensed professionals and a strategic route, they are
polluting our public air and manipulating our freedom of movement. We
the public, are both the target and victim of this attack.
The Vacant-Car Project is the counterattack.
The vacant cars are the ammunition.
Once placed on city streets, these vacant cars transform the regulated
pollution into open pollution. They encourage anyone of any driving
ability to occupy them, free from traffic laws.
More vacant cars mean more freedom of movement,
more sharing of personal pollution,
more reactions to road rage,
and most importantly, more imagination and fun."
I didn't feel any need to change the last line. It was ridiculous
enough as it was.
"I placed 15,000 of these vacant cars on streets all over New York
City. Passersby get in and drive them. I go back and photograph the
results."
Explain to me how your campaign is any different than this. How is
mental pollution by corporations any different than mental pollution
from passersby? Both ads and your bubbles contain words created by
people, only passersby have the freedom to write ANYTHING. That's like
letting a 12-year-old drive a vacant car because you don't trust
licensed bus drivers. And judging from the "public wisdom" generated
by most of your bubbles, people who write on them are indeed
12-year-olds.
Just because you nor I want to read about that Citibank is good,
neither do we want to read that "Citibank sucks (like you)". Both are
just unqualified garbage created by people. Also, you're trying to
fight ads, and what are a lot of people doing with your bubbles?
They're writing ADS on them! You're allowing the average person to
pollute people's minds in the EXACT SAME WAY that corporations do,
only corporations have less freedom to pollute because they are
1)regulated and 2) pay for their public space.
If the "most important" thing in your campaign is "imagination and
fun," I think you need to start over. You've been an art student for
far too long. You have to enter the real world now. There are many
important wars going on in the world such as those against breast
cancer, poverty, and hunger. Choose one. Instead of waging your
leisure-class war on ADS, why don't you put down your privileges and
fight something more dangerous, like AIDS. You just have to put the
"I" in it. - MacGyver, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I feel bad for the custodial guys that will have to clean up this idiots "artwork".
- prestono99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Man this is great. he says he is making a book.
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Can somebody please explain to me how this is tech news, because I'm just not seeing it.
