- bightchee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27So this is exactly like when my pot head friends wanted to show me their glass bowls and how the colors changed as they used it.... except for tea drinkers.
- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20It's not just for pot heads and tea drinkers. I used to have a bowl that would change colors when you microwaved it...I got it by turning in around 50 proofs-of-purchase for instant oatmeal.
- bodger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15£35 which is about $70 USD
- senfo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I don't know if I'd exactly call it "beautiful". Personally, I'm a little grossed out by stains --especially if they're left by food or beverage products. But to each, his own.
- kokorhekkus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I had a coffecup that had emerging patterns in it. But then my co-workers made me clean it.
- dj_sea2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12im sure there will be at least one person who picks these up in a store thinking they are plain, white cups. and when they do. they will be REALLY freaked out...
"Margret!! My tea is making patterns again!" - amandaw33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13i don't know about price.. but if you go here and click 1,2,3 that stained look is even cooler than the one on site dugg above
http://www.woodlondon.co.uk/wood_pages/3rd_year/stain_pages/stain.html - eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12for some reason all the potheads I know are avid tea drinkers
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12@foobar5892
You're not fond of the teacup then?
Should we not include one in your stocking? - RichardsBay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12it's not just a teacup....it's a stained teacup...
ooooh aaah
35 quid is a bit steep...i'll arrange 12 stained cups for $30 (stains may vary) - brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9one with too much money.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11TUTORIAL:
1. Buy regular cup.
2. Use exacto knife to outline desired pattern.
3. Scrape off glazing slightly with sandpaper.
4. Enjoy. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@kokorhekkus
"Green and Fuzzy" is not a desirable pattern. - igyigyigy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7the link posted above by amandaw33 had a cup with a better design:
http://www.woodlondon.co.uk/wood_pages/3rd_year/stain_pages/stain.html
click '2' and '3' to see tha gradual effect - BassJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I love a nice mug of tea (thats the British part of me I think!) and on a family holiday I tried some of the different varieties, and consequently I now consider myself something of a tea-tart!
I have a cupboard full of about 6-8 different varieties, and even prefer tea made from the loose leaf tea rather then a tea bag, but even I would be hard pushed to justify £35 for a cup - neat as it is I still prefer to have a clean cup when I drink my Earl Grey!
Also if you follow the link to the girls site she has another interesting cup and saucer set where the saucer is shaped like the shadow cast from the mug here:
http://www.woodlondon.co.uk/wood_pages/3rd_year/tea_pages/time_for_tea.html - egotripping, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Even weirder, is my stoner group are all avid oatmeal aficionados.
- SIDSI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Thats a really neat idea. I wonder if they can make toilets that do that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@foobar5892
You're very fascinated with Excrement. Why is that? Why are you so obsessed with fecal matter?
Is this just a juvenile ploy for attention, rooted in your Father neglecting you when you grew up, or do you have some sort of freakish fetish? - matthewaaron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I was expecting something cooler than a honeycomb design... no digg.
- upsidedork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's exactly what a homosexual would say.
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I always make beautiful patterns when I pee at walls
- unidentified, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh yeah? I'm a stoner... and I love tea and oatmeal!
- uberneoconcert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2that looks like a dirty golf ball stain. i drink green tea every day. time for my cup now!
- saska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't know, I can see how a dish that is -supposed- to be dirty would appeal to a large percentage of the digg crowd.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet, *scratchs ps3, and nintendo wii off christmas list, replaces with stained tea cup*
- bud38, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Do you think that the person that made the cup is banging someone from Digg? Why else would this article even be here. For a second I thought I clicked on a home shopping network link.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Won't happen -- since nobody would pay $70 for a teacup.
- RedStateRetard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Can't wait until the "face of Jesus" cups
- marinist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's sorta cool, but for $68/cup, I can buy several nice ones from Japan--and I won't care about stains either.
- glupidio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This would be cool if it was more than just a disgusting stain. I was imagining a colorful "hypercolor" effect on the outside that would morph with each use. Good start though I suppose.
- op12, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2...and money.
- ksponge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This was dugg to the frong page??!!?? *head explodes*
Wow, tea stains in a cup. That's interesting front page material... Talk about easily amused. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Would be nice if you could personalize them... any message.. great way to propose over a cup of TEA...
- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3It's kinda neat, but I can't help but imagine myself spending hours trying to scrub a stain out of a cup that attracted discoloration like that.
- maffiou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well, if you're skilled enough, you can wash the cup in a way that mimic this effect...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sounds like a tremendous waste of time.
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe if you want your proposal to take 3 months....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well it would certainly give you time to think about it... :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@mightme
Let me guess, your mother didn't ween you until you were 13, did she? - SteaminTmann, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Reminds me of one of those color changing bowls for smoking pot that color in over time.
- RTEREX1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This article is gay
- rovertly, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"oh look, how fabulous--it's teacups with beautiful designs." you guys are a bunch of fags
- jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Was anyone able to find the price for these on the site?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+7So they look like you just bit into a turd?
- diggaro, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I wish I could get my teeth to stain in the same way...
- weprin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I can see this being the next pet rock or elmo. Err... maybe if it was discovered a few weeks back.
- unununium272, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0thats quite cool
- jollyroger814, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1i dont need a cup to tell me how much coffee or tea i drink. im well aware that my pot starts at 12 cups at 8am and usually by 11am it is gone. works well enough for me. and my coffee cups continually look clean!
- rcomegys, on 10/12/2007, -12/+8This is an amazing idea. It's a lovely cup, and while it's really damned expensive, I think any tea lover would enjoy it. I owe Kevin Rose for introducing me to the world of tea -- now I drink a few cups everyday. Thanks man!
- wordsthatendini, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Well I guess we all know who is English now.
