I thought the wallpapers are pretty cool, and the music was too, but then I got bored of it and decided I wanted to listen to my own music and hit the pause button. I agree they could have put the pause button seperate to the loader so you don't have to wait but geez. Someone puts up a bunch of talent for free and you complain because you can't get at it within 20 secs

Waited 4 seconds for it to load and left. Let this be a lesson to you designers who insist on using flash. Find some new visitors, these ones are fed up with it.

Those two things are related - Flash sites are a lot harder to mirror than "normal" sites made in HTML/CSS

- NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That really all depends. Why bother to buy a dedicated server if you are only going to have maybe 1,000 users at most. So people buy cheap shared hosting. Then another 9,000 users come along and bam, servers down. When I got front paged on digg I got about 60,000 users on my site. That being said I not only somehow survived on my shared godaddy server but i was also using wordpress. So i guess it really depends on who you host with.

My opinion may change after the digg effect passes and it runs more quickly; long load times really give you more of an opportunity to bitch at things...

The desktops seems to poorly mesh original photos with cg overlays. Only a few attempted to blend the two into a cohesive whole. It would be a distraction to see these things on my desktop.

I had a frog when I was 12 that could jump faster than this site. Getting hit in the face by a digg front page didn't help, but making every download a mandatory 4-5 res pic zip was a flash programming disaster sled for the site.
Of note: Site did load with script-blocker in firefox running, which blocks nearly all java/flash/script launches. And it's not on the default white list.
