Some Very Clever Advertising (photos)
sherbsblog.com — I have never seen advertising this clever... of course i live in the middle of nowhere.
- 2674 diggs
- digg it
- green1152, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42The "Life's Too Short For The Wrong Job" ones are great.
- gatorsrule21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Love those, but I think the best one is the "This spot is reserved for drunk drivers."
Reminds me of the ones I saw that were painted in front of a handicap sign that said "Every 47 seconds, a drunk driver makes another person eligible to park here." - davdav, on 10/12/2007, -3/+54http://www.duggmirror.com/design/Some_Very_Clever_Advertising_photos/
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4If you are having problems viewing the page, just refresh the original a few times.
- vbsurfer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Server just died.
- vbsurfer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19and anyways, heres a better link with more ads: http://www.creativecriminal.blogspot.com/ (not my blog)
- mrberns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I just spent two hours on that page. That's an insane amount of creative ad campaigning
- orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The one in the photo booth looked like one of my teachers from college. Including the wrecked hair
- gatorsrule21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Love those, but I think the best one is the "This spot is reserved for drunk drivers."
- rubberbandage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18The folgers one is brilliant. Well… really it means that every inch of our planet is grounds for advertising.
- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26See, I wouldn't mind advertising so much if more companies did cool stuff like that Folgers one. It sure beats another damn billboard or sign popping up.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3I believe the Folgers one is a conceptual photoshop..
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Nevermind, I guess it's real: http://www.nypost.com/news/regionalnews/67835.htm
- punkrockxtian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I don't think that freshly brewed coffee and raw sewage is a good analogy.
- schurkenstadt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14It's not a sewage hole but a steam hole. So no ***** is going down there.
- AnalystX, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1"every inch of our planet is grounds for advertising"
Coffee grounds, you mean? - crash999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Somehow I doubt that steam smells like Folgers!
- Software2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Down already!
- bejitunksu, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5http://www.duggmirror.com
- themacx, on 10/12/2007, -8/+760 diggs and it's dead well someone needs an upgrade...
- vistic, on 10/12/2007, -30/+3This has been covered before in a digg from just about a month or two ago. There were more pictures in the older digg too. Buried as duplicate.
- bejitunksu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18You know, you could always LINK to the old digg instead of spouting off aimlessly and being an ass.
- thydzik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4two i believe have been covered already both coffee ads.
on another note, anyone else having problems with the mirror and firefox, every time a refresh the number of pics change :/ - maximinus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@thydzik: I managed to get to the original, it also had that problem for me (also in Firefox). The mirror suffered from it too, but after several refreshes I eventually got all of them...
- mkaufman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I especially like the file name:
http://sherbsblog.com/photos/photos/atmmachine.jpg
She's probably entering her PIN Number...- davdav, on 10/12/2007, -16/+5What the hell are you talking about?
- citrivium, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21@ davdav
if you noticed, he said atm machine (ATM standing for Automatic Teller Machine) so it would be automatic teller machine machine, and when he said PIN number (Personal Identification number) would be Personal Identification Number number. Just to clear things up - maskd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Ahhhh... Reminds me of my computing teacher; "Oh look at that GUI Interface!".
I could never muster up the heart to correct him - briguy200, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6it reminds me of any time somebody says they need a NIC card for their computer network.
- jsaya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I either get "Service Temporarily Unavailable" or all the picutres don't load on duggmirror.
This works for me: http://sherbsblog.com.nyud.net:8080/photos/cleveradvertising.php
or http://sherbsblog.com.nyud.net:8090/photos/cleveradvertising.php - moosic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Some server problems :(
"Service Temporarily Unavailable" - achanani, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11i think this is a blog with a lot more gr8 print ads. have a look
http://www.creativecriminal.blogspot.com/ - Ductapemaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The Coral Cache works better than duggmirror this time...
http://sherbsblog.com.nyud.net:8080/photos/cleveradvertising.php
I wish all advertisements could be this creative...30 second spots on TV just don't cut it these days (thats why you Tivo it and SKIP the ads!)...- Hootyea, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Your opinion is invalid because you said "gr8".
- gd007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4the coffee cup is simply awesome!
- venukb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I got a chain mail with these photos some weeks back..someone has been smart enough to put it up in the website .. Damn ! why didn't I think of this ??
- sherb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I actually got them from an email today :D... also looks like i need some new hosting. That was just pathetic.
- Zhay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why did you open a chain mail letter in the first place?
- Solafa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I loves these kind of things, now only if more companies did such things i would not might it as much as i do now.
- obijohn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Precioussssss and I loves these things too.
- migla, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2While these ads are clever and entertaining, the "better" and mor effective an advertisement is, the worse it is, since they're designed to influence people.
"You are Satan's spawn filling the world with bile and garbage. You are ***** and you are ***** us. Kill yourself. It's the only way to save your ***** soul, kill yourself."
-Bill Hicks on advertising- and marketingpeople. - obeattie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Love the coffee one!
- PeterCub, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Service temporarily unavailable.
So bad... - cwcheang, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1=D
http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/8092/914/1600/Axe_Mmmousepad.jpg - Killerbean83, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Saw 2 pictures, then I got the famous 503 error. Damn all you diggers! *shakes fist*
- flowaus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yep ---- quite quite diggfvcked.
- dready, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They're actually really good
- smohan123, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1@gatorsrule21
Oh no, that's terrible! "Every 47 seconds, a drunk driver makes another person eligible to park here."
Political correctness out the window on that ad campaign, lol... - tripm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The "Service Temporarily Unavailable" one is very clever indeed.
Wait, they all seem to be the same Service Temporarily Unavailable ad! - tysonmoore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Funny, the server is down. (Maybe from all the Digg user traffic!)
- clabbergrrl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's got to be one of the most annoying and dysfunctional UI's I've ever seen.
Why is it that self-styled "artists" always have to screw up perfectly functional and time-tested UI's? - c64plus4, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0No digg. Not that clever!
- adrianguru, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2BS those were funny,
- JustAGamer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They were cool and it gets a digg from me just for having a link to revision3 on it......diggnation rules!
- bigmanoren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe most of the American ones were done by Saatchi & Saatchi - one of the most talented ad agencies ever
- Bex104, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Less than creative advertising:
"Try our curries - you'll never get better..." - notastat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0"Try our curries - you'll never get better..." That is truly hilarious 'advertising' if you know what I mean.
