- sirdaz, on 10/10/2007, -6/+61Or maybe people will spend time doing this for there own projects, not just wallpaper?
Seriously, that's just a lame win-to-mac excuse. - samadam, on 10/10/2007, -3/+54Or you could ask a mac using buddy for a copy of the wallpapers.
Then you can color shift them to look however you want. - robisfunky, on 10/10/2007, -1/+47Leave it to Diggers to turn a photoshop tutorial thread into a mac/pc fanboy war. Bravo!
- Ridikul, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43Why do people turn simple fun tutorials into a Pc vs. Mac war?
- darny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28There's way too much on X on digg. We should also have a Y section and fix those damn Z's aready.
- Felekar, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25That's the worst win-to-mac excuse I've heard since "The keyboards look better."
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -10/+32So you advocate spending a ton of money on a mac because they have these backgrounds default? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
- Jambi, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25And Mac users do? Sure....
-rolls eyes-
I'm actually thinking that a better UI, Unix underpinnings and lack of spyware and viruses might have something to do with it. - Matt-lars, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Link?
- merrickx, on 10/10/2007, -5/+18Wow, that is terrible. There are much better tutorials all over the web and deviantart. Pay no attention to this atrocity, go out and find the good stuff.
- flashden, on 10/10/2007, -13/+24hehe, that's so true too. I wrote this back when I was on a PC, years ago actually, and had a bit of screen envy :-)
- brutalentropy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Don't be an idiot... the keyboard is much cleaner than almost any other keyboard on the market from a design standpoint. Look at the raving reviews for the logitech dinovo keyboard, same thing but with a different manufacturer. It *is* a nice looking keyboard, though I think that should be, at most, a minor selling point for buying a computer.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+15Cool, too bad I don't give a ***** since I've never seen it before. Instead of telling everyone about it, just click and choose Duplicate and move on to the next article.
- SlyProfanity, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10having mac-like in the title pretty much guarantees a mac/pc battle
- GeekyGerge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9This Is DIGGGGGG!!!
- Okitaz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Was that supposed to be funny?
- soljin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10*rolls eyes*
- K3ITHK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Great tutorial, good work. :)
- Rileyper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Today must be Photoshop day, this is the 12th photoshop guide today
- GeekyGerge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I would compare Mac to the Wii really
- AmadelaJake, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11I saw this before on DeviantArt
http://thegoodness.deviantart.com/art/Creating-a-Mac-Type-Background-16735758 - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Or you could just search Google.
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"There's been an upswing in the number of virii released for Mac lately"
Fristly, it's viruses, not virii.
But to your point: I'm sorry, but you're wrong. There have only been "proof of concept" viruses written for the Mac. There are no viruses in the wild for Macs. It's not a matter of lack of market share, it's a matter of the OS being more secure.
To your second point: If you got a ***** Mac Mini, then you should have returned it. ***** happens, no company is infallable and no one has ever said that Apple is. There are occasionally bad units. You shouldn't discount them just by one bad experience. Furthermore, have you ever owned an ipod or an iphone? if not, then you really have no business ***** on people who do.
But if you want to talk about "sheep", how about the fact that Windows has an 80% market share, and you want to keep going along with that crowd. You just keep eating up the majority's products without even considering that there are other options. Who is the sheep there? - MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Well, it was supposed to funny in that "I'm still on my Dad's AOL account" way.
- themuffinman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8A much better tutorial:
http://veerle.duoh.com/blog/comments/creating_macos_x_looking_desktops/ - jivebotic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6There's a dozen guide's online to getting your stories dugg - they can help. My point is, you submitted it a month ago and didn't get dugg - perhaps no one liked your title and description, perhaps you don't have many "friends"...whatever the case, unfortunately it wasn't dugg. Flashden obviously did something right because it hit the front page and I'm glad it did - it's a good story. Work on making yours stand out more or get more friends, but don't complain about someone submitting something a month after you did.
- spencewah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Fortunately for Rileyper, every day is Inane Comment Day.
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Mac pansies are the worst kinds of pansies.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Yes, I've heard that about you.
- iheartartoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Don't you have a Zwinky to make for your Myspace?
- cyberwiz01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5How dare you compare a Mac to a PS3!
- JoshuaH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You better duck or run for cover Siralphred.
- unleashedlive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7You buy bargain basement Dell crap right? My MBP was cheaper than Dells equivalent.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Funny, most people buy computers to run programs. But hey, if it works for you...
- moofer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What's Google?
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Give them some time. Soon it will be a XBox 360 vs PS3 vs Wii fanboy war as well.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Any chance you could name one of these viruses and point to a single person infected? Not kidding, I'm really curious.
Also, how about a list of the stuff your "mom" bought for three thousand dollars for a Mac mini system. - MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Well he's excited enough to VOW it so he must be pretty serious.
- maexus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+63000.00 for a Mac Mini, printer/scanner and monitor? Did she buy a cinema display? My Macbook, with printer/scanner was ~1300.00. As far as photoshop? Loads in seconds for me. I have found a replacement for every program that I used for Windows on OS X of the same or higher quality. It also opens up many programs I couldn't use on Windows for music production. Worth every penny to me.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Gaudiness of the interface? As compared to what? Vista or XP? All three are almost cartoon like.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You wrote this from your mom's Mac mini didn't you?
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Well, we could start having more iPhone stories instead. Would that be better?
- greatcaffeine, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Aqua hardly seems flashy compared to Aero. Microsoft went out of their way to ensure that they were using as many system resources as possible at all times.
- Upsizer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Come on guys, he *must* be kidding. No one would make a switch to mac solely based on a background. He has to be joking...
Learn to laugh? - MedHead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The way the link title presents this article is as if the Mac backgrounds weren't originally made in Photoshop.
- disasterpiece, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2...no
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2There is not one single instance of anyone getting spyware or any other sort of malware on a Mac. It's not possible. The Mac OS doesn't let ***** just install itself. You are aware of everything that tries to install on your computer.
You sir, are a liar. - Nossie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2lol seriously... you dont.
If you have an unpatched original XP install you'll get blasted with network messenger spam and turned into a spamspew box within hours.
SP1 is not so bad... you have to look at websites to get infected
SP2 is better but nobody notices because they click yes to everything anyway
Vista is better still since you need to put a unix style password in to fvck with the system
So whether you like microsoft or not (and I dont... and dont dare ask what I think of Vista :P )
An un patched XP box is begging for a worm - xike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Or better yet, let starfish do all the work for you. http://homepage.mac.com/mscott/starfishx/starfishx.html (yes, his website and the examples look horrible.)
- iheartartoo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I've got one on digging you down. Trade?
