Smashing Magazine: 50 More Excellent Blog Designs
smashingmagazine.com — Smashing Magazine puts together yet another great list of well-designed blogs. Very inspirational and some really unique designs made the cut.
- 799 diggs
- digg it
- mesarah, on 05/09/2008, -12/+7Great collection. Thanks for sharing.
- angel25, on 05/09/2008, -13/+1Congrats on the use of your web site.
- Newsdude, on 05/09/2008, -10/+2Some very nice designs
- AltairMetamorf, on 05/09/2008, -9/+0Indeed, very nice designs. Will make bunch of bloggers really happy...
- Jeffler, on 05/09/2008, -9/+2Smashing blog design lists are critical for my sanity. I use them WAY too much.
- WhoDoneIt, on 05/09/2008, -10/+3I hate blogs!
- nusuni, on 05/09/2008, -0/+18Sometimes I wish Digg commentators (I won't name names) would not make it so obvious they were asked to digg something.
Anyway, I agree with maybe 70% of the blogs listed. The rest of them are a bit too busy for my liking (like home design fund and Nimbupani Designs) .- el_taco, on 05/09/2008, -1/+3I thought most of them had way too much clutter and distractions. Usability nightmares.
- liquisoft, on 05/09/2008, -7/+4Some of those are brilliant, and some are so-so, while others are just sad.
But this is true with all lists. There can never be one perfect list. Somebody like me will always disagree with it. - IEatHamburgers, on 05/09/2008, -0/+11Cookie cutter comments and subsequent digg-down party in 3... 2... 1...
- theapprentice, on 05/09/2008, -6/+1Surprised to not see http://www.dtelepathy.com on their list. Latest redesign was excellent.
- gdehms, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4Yay... yet another generic looking "excellent" redesign.
- whoreable, on 05/09/2008, -6/+3Where is the design where you kill yourself, because you are in fact writing a blog?
- BradBrown, on 05/09/2008, -7/+2I like to think my blog is well designed, but then again, it's pink and features a pig eating delicious green slop. Excellent posting...would Digg again....AAA+++++.
- neorser, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3This isn't eBay.
- mayjah, on 05/09/2008, -3/+4Some great inspiration once I increase my technical abilities beyond garden slug status.
- toastgodsupreme, on 05/09/2008, -2/+8A lot of these are ugly. Fail.
Maybe decent for inspiration, but certainly not worthy of being in a category of Excellence. - theMetalEdge, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5A lot of these blog designs also look VERY similar to the blogs in Smashing Magazine's previous submissions. Granted most of those designs look "pretty", I don't see much in design innovation.
- zionsrogue, on 05/09/2008, -2/+1Seriously? These are "excellent" blog designs? I guess "mediocre at best" didn't fit well as a title for Smashing Magazine.
- zongamin, on 05/09/2008, -1/+2Thanks for all the spam comments mesarah, angel, newsdude - you ***** cretins.
- aclement, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1I'm really glad that they've included Rob Sheridan's SketchBlog, which is wonderfully designed.
- Kinsbane, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Dugg for Lisa Bettany, cause she's a freakin' hottie.
- GLSmyth, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1I actually bought my laptop through eBay, but the seller had to go through hell first. I initially had a question about the laptop, and after getting an answer, I placed a nice bid on the laptop because it was exactly what I wanted. I was the high bidder until about an hour remaining, at which point the bidding went crazy and I lost.
Several days later, looking for the same type of laptop I came across it again. I wrote the buyer and asked him about it and he told me that a bunch of bogus bids were placed in the system at the end. eBay ended the bidding and reimbursed him his entry fee so he was trying it again.
I went ahead and placed my bid once again. I was the high bidder until about an hour before the end of bidding, when I was no longer able to find the auction - it was even removed from the list of items on my My eBay page. I then received an email from eBay telling me that they had ended the auction early because of the bogus bids.
The guy wrote me, asking if I would like to purchase the machine directly, which I did.
It looks like eBay is severely broken. I have come across scams on eBay and emails to the company have had me jump through major hoops to simply report what I saw. I no longer bother doing this, as they've essentially told me that they do not care.
I continue to use eBay, but wonder about the people who depend upon eBay as a source of income. - chousho, on 05/11/2008, -0/+1Wow, it's amazing to see the level of detail and thought that goes into some of these designs. I love seeing the way other people design, and this is really inspirational.
Thanks for posting :)
