- spin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow! what a orignal use of the google maps API! +mad props and a +digg to boot!
- Maverick83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Go for Australia. You can build up all your forces on the only bride to the other continents, and slowly move into Asia.
- ,,|,_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bugmenot2 just lost 10 points geek cred. :P
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do you play RISK?
Seriously.
I've never played it before. - BigDumbGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As much as I would like to digg this, the game needs a lot of work. The next version should be cool.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You mean visitors from Bugmenot have Geek cred?
- tilttv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just tried this out. This is awesome! Too bad it wasn't multiplayer but this is a minor point. Way to go ZenChi and great find (again) Albertpacino!
- n3tfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey boneheads: how about enjoying the articles he does submit and quit second-guessing who he is or what he does for a living.
- Albertpacino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For more info - http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Maps-API/browse_thread/thread/192f57ce685d9822
- stian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool idea, love the concept :)
- starfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RISK is the greatest game ever, i love this
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Albertpacino does it again great link thanks
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is an excellent idea.
- a99tandem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0methinks albert works for google
- jrpz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is awesome.
- m4v1s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome digg
- cfazzini, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh sick. RISK pwns.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Risk is cool, but this is really just a proof-of-concept.
- person, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd like one-player mode (so I don't have to be evil and control everyone, making everyone but one team die), and an online multiplayer mode. GREAT use of the API. :)
- Nessguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's confusing, but I like the concept.
- imav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought I was all original and creative when I suggested the idea of Risk via Google Maps... but apparently he's been at it since August. Very cool.
- addisonj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now i want axis and allies
- n3xu5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Last time I played Risk vs a comp I won every time before 3 rd round :(
- anorris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hell yes!
I loved Risk as a kid and have wanted something on the computer to take the place of it, this might be just what I've been searching for to waste some precious time - metjer10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this would be so0o0o0oooo0o0o0o much cooler........... if i new how to play risk
- hold_steady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great idea, very cool.
- TomJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank you Albertpacino
- stolenpass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome.
I hate RISK but just showcasing the posibilities and abilities is just cool. - Massif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's neato. I'd rather have a vs Computer version though. If I'm going to play against humans, I want to do it on the real board!
I just thought up a pretty neat idea. Hotspot risk. You go around the city connecting to the game server on different hotspots. Once you've connected at a hotspot, you own that territory. If two people are connected, they have to battle somehow. It should be something a little more involved than die rolls. Try to take over a whole city. - M00nshadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting idea but what would be better would be if you could zoom in on particular areas and they would be carved into zones too, so if I want to battle to own Boston I can just zoom to that level and play there.
Great concept, lots potential, needs work though. Digg worthy though, thanks. - SirBriggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0..It's been 10 years since I last played....I forgot how.
- chosenone-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wtf... it acts buggy for me. Can't add as many troops as I want nor does it have colour consistency (I can add for a few red countries, a few green...?!)
- borderpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Go for Australia. You can build up all your forces on the only bride to the other continents, and slowly move into Asia."
Best Tatic for the game - mydave, on 08/02/2008, -0/+0cool idea. sweet for me Risk fun).
http://search.ashtech.info/RISK%20The%20Game%20%20 ... - zenchristo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Always nice to get a few appreciative comments.. thanks guys.. I'll do a quick few answers for those who had some.
Addisonj,
One of my friends wants me to do Axis And Allies next. I'd rather do Diplomacy personally, but we'll see after I figure out how to get all the multiplayer stuff working.
chosenone,
Could you email me at the address I give on the page? I haven't tested it out on all systems. Just tell me OS, Browser, and which type of game you were trying to play and I'll try to test it on my machine.
Moonshadow,
Unfortunately that isn't the game of Risk. If you want a game like that I'd suggest a game called Heart of Iron. I bought it for my friend and he said it's one of the most painful he's played.
Panoctopi,
Monopoly? Like zoom into Atlantic City and use all the real streets as names? I think Axis and Allies or Diplomacy to be a more logical step. - Panoctopi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, what a way to bring that game back. Hmm, monopoly next?
- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Go for Australia. You can build up all your forces on the only bride to the other continents, and
slowly move into Asia."
"Best Tatic for the game"
My ass.. you must've been playing against poor opponents. That is the worst strategy. The game favors the RISK-taking strategic aggressor. All those I've played against who used a "hide and fortify" strategy were doomed to failure. - altidude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty cool, I like it.
- lordelric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Albert Pacino, you are a god among mere mortals"
This is one of the best diggs ever. hands down. - sgecko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree--alebertpacino rocks! I have seen a lot of Google map applications but this one is the coolest. I play RISK once a year with hold high school friends and they will flip when they see this. Now integrate it into Google Earth!
- Sell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty sweet for Risk fans
- dheller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This would be so much better w/ Yahoo Maps!
http://justin.everett-church.com/ymaps/pirateMaps.html - nocre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Risk is awesome. This is awesome.
But multiplayer support integrated, even down to ground level, on the three-dimensional Google Earth?
That would be godly.
In all seriousness, keep up the good work, mate. - vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0not part of this digg...
but has anyone ever thought that maybe albertpacino gets paid to submit stories to digg?? - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Read my profile.
"Not a Bugmenot Person" - bostongeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I still like Warfish better
