  • JRD12, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8In case any of you are sitting waiting for the "Not Connected" message to go away, you should know that have to refresh your page to attempt connecting again.

    The site is currently limited to 175 users at a time because it was the only way for it to stay up with all this Digg traffic. We've never had to limit the amount of users before (leave it to Digg), so we haven't built functionality for it to auto-attempt the connection again.

    The site is sitting at 175 users constantly. But people are jumping off all the time so if you refresh a couple times you can usually get a spot.

Typically all flash sites are media rich and so of course take longer to load. Typically the text is not selectable (but this is a developers choice, not a limitation of Flash).

    But it comes down to the objective of the site. For example, if your objective is to make a chat program with animated avitars that can run, dance, and punch each other in face...HTML and javascript is probably not going to be your choice.

  • kali25, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7The whole site is Flash. That is not a site in my book. Yes it looks cool, but so does any other animation. It is not usable, or indexable by search engines or bookmarkable. Sites like this make Tim Berners-Lee cring.
