- kaeves, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35It's a really good thing that they didn't try this in Boston.
- bobothn, on 10/12/2007, -8/+42So at 247,000 a screen per month that is 8233.33 dolars a day for the screen 343 an hour 5.71 a minute. so these people are basically stealing $6 each minute they leave these up from the people that bought the ads. bravo
- sachmanb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29i love it because it covers ugly ass ads that irritate me with something interesting which just accentuates the ciyscape
- pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20interesting idea. terrible name.

- Van3ck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5A perfectly artistic way to cover up all the Fnords.
- ultrahombre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Mmmmm Seizurful
- freqout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Props for including some good prior art on the project page.
Its very reminiscent of Jim Campbell's LED work as well.
http://www.jimcampbell.tv/ - mkameli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hah, I went to college with that guy. He was at Pepperdine and then went to USC. He would always try showing up in the cafeteria without shoes on, like an act of defiance or something, but they kept getting on him about health codes.
Anyway, congrats on getting on digg, Jason.
Maybe don't pick annoying music next time? - WhiteIce89, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Quick! It has lights and wires sticking out of it! Oh no wait.. this isn't Boston.
- MrPresident13, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Kevin, it's YOUR ass when i get arrested!
- thesimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1u would be pretty ***** off if u had paid an estimated $274,000 per month per screen and then some arty ***** comes along and diffuses them into a pleasant array of 45 blinking, color-changing squares
:/ - theskunkworks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1reminds me of lumines, especially with the music
- jesstech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's called 'Art'. Clearly, you've never been exposed to it in your lifetime.
Put down your joystick and go read a book or something. - jjhat1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Already won't load... :(
Where is YouTube when you need it? - garageillusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1chiptunes... get down.
- Drumrboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i just made a 3x3 pixel version for my 5g ipod (video)

- skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This ***** is badass.
- UGM2099, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1haha!
- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That seems like a lot of effort to go to just to get the damn thing ripped down the next day.
- shawnblog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Anything to do with the NYC subway is a digg as far as I'm concerned.
- mickd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1man thats awesome http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Pixelator .. kevin rose stole my story.. ***** bastard.. credit where its due douche bag
- ijacker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I think it's "Bitshifter".
I could be wrong, though... - jon02129, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No, find your reading glasses and try again. I said, "I wish i could undigg you."
- tetfsu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@jon02129
Did you just say "I wish I could quit you?"
Are you having one of your broke back moments again? - Daedalus1134, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We've had one of these for a while, there's a quirky little art store in Seattle that has these marketed as a "groove tube". They look identical compared to the one in the video, and come in various TV sizes. It's great for ambient lighting to put you to sleep.
- agentkimchee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some of you peeps are hilarious. For those of you who don't get it: He's making a statement about the overload of information that permeates our new advertising-driven society; by reducing an ad-board to pixels, he is literally removing some of that unrequested solicitation to an amount of data that is easier for our brains to process, less distracting, and kind of pretty at the same time =)
Oh, and the music? It fits perfectly because it is a track from a similar artist who "reduces the pixels" of the music, if you will. It is 8-bit music, like you would find on an old NES consule, made with the MidiNes device (www.xik.com).
So, yeah, right on Jason! I love it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Cool.......
- ButterBuddha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Homer Simpson: "Booooring"
- AimlessAbyss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I don't get it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Wow this is very lame and gay. Let's cover up a nice TV and make it look like 1980's contraption that flashes different lights. Anyone who likes this is faking it.
- illahtech, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4I love it - this isn't the first time I've seen artists reduce televisions to their core purpose (a source of light) but this is definitely one of the more original takes on the topic I've seen in some time. The guerrilla art aspect of it makes it even better.
Despite my support for the project I actually work in advertising...I'm so torn between my art school rebelliousness and grown up bill paying :-) - turnerm5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0you can do the same thing with toilet paper tubes and a cardboard frame. if you live in the dorms at college, just ask the people responsible for replacing the TP.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1artistic... i like the fact that their pixelated artwork is random and modern.... great idea.
- jmp478, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3That music... are those rubber bands?
- tobro88, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Lame idea, lame "music", if that is what that was and it was "unauthorized! Ohhhhhhhh! Oh and as far as great for putting you to sleep, I would have to agree. That clip did it for me!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Now THIS is art I can get into.
- jon02129, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2That's ascii art, not pixel art. I wish i could undigg you.
- MrWhipplemen, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5anybody else exhausted from dancing their ass off to those funk beats!
- ewcost, on 10/12/2007, -16/+13Wow, that's is a cool idea. Love it!
- sharigan, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1dont censor my pr0n. thx. bye
- binorgog, on 08/07/2008, -5/+0All the lights, the pretty lights.....and the music is so amazing... GREAT now I can feel like on freaking tripping when I go to get the train!
