- kiranlightpaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Tiny, unreadable fonts are not near as cool as everyone thinks they are.
No digg. - waiwai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3god I hate those flash sites with microscopic text. if your text is so small that you have to cheat like this to avoid flash's anti-aliasing, then it is too small dammit.
learn to do your layouts like a pro instead, with the important ***** "above the fold" and further content via scrolling or other pages. microscopic content just makes me skip the site entirely. - Midnightbrewer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"BTW Adobe is gonna ruin Macromedia Products like microsoft ruined apple!"
...since Microsoft never bought Apple, let alone ruin it, I guess that means Adobe's going to do an awesome job? - wwwdeveloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I have well over 2000 fonts installed on my system I do alot of web development and it appears like I have half of these fonts but hey good digg +
BTW Adobe is gonna ruin Macromedia Products like microsoft ruined apple!"
- You may have 2000 fonts installed on your machine, but the majority of folks don't! The golden rule of web development is to only use fonts that come installed by default on the Operating System. These are not cool for any major company. Show me one Fortune 500 company who spends millions a year on Marketing that uses fonts like this on their website.
Rubbish - NO DIGG! - They may be good for Flash but where the font is embedded, but don't use these for your CSS, unless you want to screw things up. - Geniustwin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These fonts are about as "in style" as parachute pants are.
- Astr0wiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man, does anyone here understand why bitfonts are good with Flash files? You idiots that think you need these installed on the target machine apparently have no idea what Flash can do. A seasoned Flash programmer will imbed the fonts into the SWF and the client doesn't need to have it installed. Plus, these can be resized. Gawd, what loud morons...
- grammarpolice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YOU JUST MADE MY 3:00 IN THE MORNING!! haha thanks alot I love these things more than anything.
Rock on! - pacdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most every font has a purpose. I've seen pixel fonts used for good as well as evil. I'll digg this, but people need to remember that there are people who can use these fonts effectively.
- gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1look at dafont.com, they have been on there for some time :), and no im not a dafont person before you think im pluging the website :) o_O{
- m85476585, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those would be good for a TI83+ calculator!
- chris_moritz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A seasoned Flash programmer may be technologically able to embed the fonts in the SWF file, sure, but one would hope that in the process of becoming a seasoned Flash programmer, she'll have figured out that making text difficult to read for anyone over 30 isn't good design. Along the way she might have also discovered that placing said low-contrast, tiny text in a scrolling box is annoying and likely to lead to a disturbing number of site visitors reading only the directly visible type.
On the other hand, if getting a web design award is what she's going after instead of presenting information to site visitors in an easy, accessible, and typographically elegant manner, that's fine too. - rc_collins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1""I believe its possible to embed fonts with CSS so the user doesn't have to have them pre-installed but they still act like text. I read a webmonkey tutorial on it year or three ago but the links to it on their search engine seem to be dead. Is this sort of thing still "done"?"
Most definitely not."
Yes you can, read up on it before openning your face.
Lots of sites are doing this now days.
--dan - geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Heh, I thought the site was great; if the font's are redistributable, they can go into video games, be used to make fliers, etc.
Just because it's a font, doesn't nessicarily mean it's meant for web consumption. ;) - HenryWirz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ramooooone Get me my reading glasses.
- omitraffic, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1These are some very cool pixel fonts!
http://www.oxfordmsrealtor.com/ - directandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome fonts
- kdehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice find. digg++
- Dock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yuck . . . well, if I could read the teenie-tiny font, maybe I could make some use of this. However, the font on the page is not scalable making it nearly impossible to read at my screen resolution. Who wants unscalable fonts anyway?
- abhibeckert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seriously, you guys need to learn that many people don't run their 17" at 640x480.
- phidong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+004 has been around since like 1998.. lol
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well it's a style thing. Pixel fonts may not have been invented yesterday... but they're handy for anyone who's looking to try a tiny or intricate design.
- Infekted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah kind of old.. but good for those who hasn't seen it yet.
- RichyRich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude, I've been using those since 1998 :) still cool though...
- mutant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"PS, Flash sucks, I hope Adobe sh1tcans it."
Clueless. - jnorris441, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1These fonts are for trendwhore douchebags who use microtext
- chris_moritz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nothing says "I care about my site visitors" and "I have compelling content" like setting it in 50% grey on a solid black background 5px tall pixel font. Maybe you'll get on K10K; maybe even a mention on Dreamless!
- Xoligy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old news, these have been around and used for ages. They're over-used IMO.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know a website that hosts _real_ fonts for free?
- jasongetsdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I believe its possible to embed fonts with CSS so the user doesn't have to have them pre-installed but they still act like text. - elhammond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice Digg! I wish all fonts were free! Any other websites that have free fonts?

Most definitely not. - Bromskloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, aren't things like this _frowned_ upon? Oh yes, they are!
- Armageddon3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha, its been a while I've been using these fonts from the exam same site ^_^
- Slayback, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Perfect for an LCD screen (like that on the Logitech G15) that uses graphic text!

- Qwertie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I made some small fonts of my own some time back (2Small & Lesspixels). I intended them for PDAs ... um, my 19" monitor doesn't really need them.
http://millikeys.sourceforge.net/fonts/ - topgigmedia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone know a website that hosts _real_ fonts for free?
Yeah free fonts are at... http://www.fontfreak.com/index2.htm - no strings attached. I bet these fonts listed above can be found there in some form or another. - mike_p, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah Dracos is obviously starting a flamestorm...
Pixel fonts in images (if 2-color) are so small, you couldn't beat it with a blink of the eye in download time... - worst_digg_ever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Embedding (any) font might be the worst idea I've ever heard, but these are great for dynamic text in flash. It's not even a tiny font issue, anything below 12pt will look awful unless it's bitmapped. Don't even mention if your text isn't at a flat 0°... Good digg.
- aznboi04k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pixel fonts are too small. hard to read on my big lcd. no digg.
- version30.x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice to have these in the arsenal -- will be using in Flash.
Good find etruscan :: dugg - jochex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+digg
this kind of fonts are very useful for banners & suff like that.
i was searching this site for a while.
exelent find. - theOster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0we should all take a lesson from the best page in the universe
(check teh FAQ and scroll down to the "Why does your site look so *****? / Why do you use such huge fonts?" section :) - theOster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0guess the digg doesnt do html so well...
http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net - starboard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0youch! while i admit it's cool that it's there for free downloads, those types will make you cross-eyed.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think there's some people here who need to start thinking about glasses.
- tvgemert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn! I was actually using em in 98' definitely 90's stuff

I never said it "couldn't" be done. Read the comment before opening your fat face.
It might well be done by "lots of sites" (please name 5 mainstream commercial sites that use this ***** technique), but it's most definitely not good practise.
It's eye-candy, at best, and in any context, does nothing to improve the legibility of a web page. - sheesh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Due to the proliferation of those "million pixel home page" sites, there has been a severe worldwide pixel shortage.
That's why these fonts are so small. We just don't have enough spare pixels anymore to use larger fonts. - jay314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For all you guys complaining about usability: pixel fonts have their place. Most truetype fonts aren't meant to be used at small point sizes, and look terrible when scaled down too far. Pixel fonts work there. Of course it's the designer's responsibility to use them in an accessible way.
Also, not all fonts end up on web pages. Stop complaining.
For you guys interested.. superlooper.de has some nice pixel fonts as well:
