- OpaqueMurdock, on 11/23/2008, -1/+38I have studied the position and looked at my own hand as a model. This is my guess at what happened. I think she MOSTLY had her index finger behind her thumb and a bit of her knuckle was showing from behind. An Art Director most likely thought it looked weird/unnecessary and had the artist take the bit of knuckle out. Since they all have the full hand shot in mind, they never saw the final as weird... they knew the finger was there. It was a trick of the mind and they never saw it fresh like we do.
If you notice the back of her thumb looks really straight... It is hard to say from this low res image but my guess is that the person working on it was a bit too aggressive in removing the knuckle/bunch-o-skin.
So,my theory is that it is a touch of both, Mostly hidden finger, plus a minor use of PS that removed the subtle visual clue that it existed in the first place. : )
