- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37CS3 is Universal. Happy Holidays
- CalipsoII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19All due respect, any school that teaches graphics and won't budget for a CS3 site license has it's priorities backwards. GIMP is awesome, I use it for the occasional little image-editing tasks at work, but if paying for an education in graphic arts I would expect my tuition to go to the purchase of tools I can put on my resume, not the open-source alternative.
Just my two cents. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Glad you are so tolerant. His voice is fine.
- skyhighrockets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13The full, free series in high res: http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=327

- ThreeDee912, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Yep! UNIVERSAL BINARY! It's supposed to open faster than your web browser... I'm not sure about that though.
- Sanchez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Why?
Seriously, Why? - piotrsz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17very nice interface
- manitoba98xp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I would agree with you, Calipsoll, but it sounds like he's at high school: I can't imagine any university program in graphic arts using GIMP, fantastic as it is.
- liquilife, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Actually the panels seem influenced by the Macromedia products with a few new bells and whistles. Which makes perfect sense being that Adobe swallowed Macromedia. Look at the last 3 or so versions of Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver and you will see a very similar panel layout.
- myheaditches, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9It's almost as if... adobe bought macromedia...
- bking, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12You are a *****. Microsoft influence? How about "web 2.0"/modern UI design. Quit looking so hard for somebody to ***** on.
- Groady, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8As someone who uses Photoshop every day I must say I really like the ability to have the pallets only appear when you move the mouse to the right of screen.
- flashpitt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I'm puzzled as to why the "history" box isn't in the default dock on the right hand side like in CS2, etc. I know you can add it, but I use the history window frequently and I'd think other people might too.

Windows screenshot ;) - zzz@tkz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7My school uses a pirated copy of PS7.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6For the Windows users without a valid CS2 license, once you've installed the CS3 beta, go to it's install directory (C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS3AMT) and rename application.sif to application.sif_ to continue using the beta past the initial 2 day period.
- KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Tear off your nose and cheeks and you'll see.
- apotropaic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This is very obviously an attempts at a digg comment spam bot. Get this guy banned! And find the other user that has the same IP and ban him!
- avolant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5gimp... i dunno. maybe its just me, but i can't use it for crap. im pretty decent in photoshop, but i just cannot figure out the gimp. i have seen good things made with it. i do not find the ui to be very friendly...
maybe if i had a photoshop key-command plugin. or... i dunno.
interface is a big deal in imaging software, imo and, i think many would agree, interface is not really oss's strong suit. getting better, to be sure, but not to the level that software like photoshop demonstrate.
its a great project. could be much better. - iomegaboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Amen Calipsoll.
- blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Cool, has it become unuseable?
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=327
Full screen version, second link. YouTube does not do something like this justice.
One of the best updates to Photoshop since PS6, in my opinion. - soapycub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3anyone know where I can find the image he had opened in the video. the colours were awesome -- and the girl wasn't half bad either. ;o)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Spam.
Plus it doesn't make sense. - answr42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the video only has 690 views, yet it has 885 diggs, hmmm...
- jacobd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Docking palettes!
Auto-resizing canvas!
Well, at least the Macromedia takeover was worth something. - kamilX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Kinda resembles Jasc/Corel's Paint Shop Pro interface... which in my opinion is a good thing.
- kasted, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5what a ***** retard
- computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone have any Mac screenshots?
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I installed it, and it is indeed much zippier now that its a UB. Organizing pallets has been the biggest PITA working in Adobe products, but this new scheme makes things much much more usable.
- shotmenot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah but who the hell reads the comments before they read a story?
i know i sure dont - latour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that's why they have PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS.
- mtappenden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This was always going to happen since Adobe bought Macromedia and it's what I've been waiting for (along with UB of course). I've been using Photoshop CS3 on my MacBook Pro and iMacs (all C2D) for a little over a day now and am loving it. I'm hoping for a full CS3 demo soon, if not a full release. My money is on it straight away :)
- diggapleeeze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2similar UI and functionality from Adobe's Lightroom which is also in beta. Me likey!
- jodokast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually I find Deke to be fairly entertaining.
- yonah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2except it´s way better looking
I love it - adolfojp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually, it looks a lot like Fireworks. I have always loved the Fireworks UI so this is great news for me. I would have liked to have some of Fireworks' numerical positioning and editing capabilities in CS3 but I guess that I will have to wait for the next one.
- digga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's the opposite of the outerface
- dioxmat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3cdmarcus: you can resize the toolbox too...
- cdmarcus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually, GIMP does have docking. You can build windows with a bunch of other things stuck on. However, GIMP has that horrible space-wasting toolbox thing.
- rowanjl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thats an awesome little "hack" :D Now I just hope they don't change it before I can download (stupid download limits...)
- cresquin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't you are upset about the best feature in CS2.
it's awesome to just be able to ctrl+click the layers I want to move in tandom, AND be able to apply the same layer effect to all those layers as well.
if I have a bunch of layers that have to move together a lot, I put them in a folder. - alen3K, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4dude it's from lynda.com by a professional designer who has lots and lots of video tutorials....it's not made by a random guy who just got it from p2p. fkn noob
- Stephiems, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are a whole lot more reasons then just that to not upgrade. CS2 is buggy as hell. We used CS1 since it came out, and then got CS2...we are very soon going to uninstall CS2 and go back to CS1. There are horrible problems in exporting from illustrator to photoshop and even just opening illustrator files in photoshop. We never had this problem with CS1. I sure hope CS3 is going to be better. There's nothing worse then spending 2,500 on a product that gives you nothing but headaches, and there is nothing you can do about it.
Has anyone else had these problems? And has anyone upgraded to 2.3 and seen an improvement? - archanox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is what I have been waiting for, Photoshop with the interface features from Paint Shop Pro. I am actually glad these ideas were ripped from Corel, Photoshop is better for it.
- nubs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is freaking awesome
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It loads in about the same time as Firefox for me on my mac.
It takes about 10 seconds to load up... on a C2D Macbook Pro 2.33GHz / 2GB
Pity I can only run it for 2 days :( - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please please watch the "Auto-align Layers command" movie on the site linked above. It's just made me laugh in astonishment.
- hannahmar, on 06/11/2009, -0/+1I guess it is mainly because I am used to the old CS2 interface and one of my favorite things from CS2 (the customizable bar next to the browse icon) is gone. It's not extrmely bad, but it could be fixed up, I suppose that is what Beta is for :)
