- brundlefly76, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33I'm not ragging about US I live in NY ***** C.
If you guys dont care about cabs then you definitely dont use them as primary transportation.
Yes if I lived in xtown and drove my car everywhere it would be meaningless, but if you live in NYC and take 5-6 stinky cabs a week and then took a London cab, which is clean, spacious, and professionally driven, you would care.
@Anrkist11 "You like to talk to the drivers or something"
I want them to pay attention when they are flying down fifth avenue with me in the back seat, and I want them to listen to what I am saying when I give them a destination. For this reason in NYC the cab driver must get off the phone if the passenger asks, because its become such a problem. About 90% of the time in NYC, your cab driver is on the phone the entire ride.
Just two nights ago I told a cab driver who was on the phone speaking some african dialect the entire ride to bring me to Grand Central Terminal - he tried to bring me to Port Authority. I mean, he's not even doing his job - its not rocket science. - mgkwho, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28@Anrkist > ["non-english speaking driver who is on the phone the entire ride." - You like to talk to the drivers or something??]
Well, I for one like to tell them where I want to go.
-=|Mgkwho - Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22I was half-expecting to see Bruce Willis in a sky cab...
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23All those future taxis and not even ONE of them hovers?
I'm disappointed.
In fact, I'm so disappointed, I'm going to deploy this face :( - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24this is the cab of the future http://www.philipklein.com/archives/johnny-cab.jpg
- tenderstorm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Is it just me or they really look so ugly?
- mgkwho, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Well, the one was of a PT Cruiser, so I think that answers your question.
-=|Mgkwho - DeskFlyer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8The first picture reminds me of a Volkswagen Thing:

We will imprint ourselves onto paper! INGENIUS! - docbaily, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That Bubble on 30s that Rides put together was hilariously awesome. If I saw that riding down the street, I would park my car just to go for a ride in it.
- themayorpwns, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5How come they all still have wheels???
- DaveClarkOne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'd gladly pay a bit more (no, not a limo) for better service. In the States, we get dirty, battered cabs with matching drivers. Who can argue with that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In Soviet Russia, the taxis take you to work
- nbcivic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3In the middle east, taxi's drive these ancient mercedes, and they're also manual, so you've got this dude who smells of sweat and cigars driving this beat up manual mercedes down tiny roads, around people, cutting off cars, and sometimes yelling profanity out the window.
It's really quite an experience, i love riding with them when i visit.
somewhere along these lines http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41963000/jpg/_41963296_beirutcab203_ap.jpg - pedmond, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What a HORRID contraption!
- betobeto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Actually, it looks like the Hummer's bastard cousin.
- Fragalishus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm, weird you got dugg down for that, one of the very rare instances where it's actually funny.
I dugg it simply for the monster cab. Got a good chuckle out of that one for some reason. - KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5the first one is just stupid looking.
- juhani, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is way cooler: http://www.citycab.stadia.fi/
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5because people are digging it
its not just your choice as to what gets on the front page
its everyones - taxicab, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I love the last pic, the 1975 Checker, from the old sitcom Taxi.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It looks like something I'd build from Legos.
- lilsenzi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wouldnt mind ridin in one of these
- brundlefly76, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Two pics of the back of a NYC taxi and a London taxi (with jump seats down, but usually up for massive legroom and/or cargo, plus plenty of handles and space for the physically challenged - The London taxi ride and ceiling is much higher also to accommodate the entering and exiting of passengers).

It's just smart design. - sentai, on 09/09/2008, -0/+0http://www.s74.info nice work man
- BlackOp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They look like toys.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1and those dinky-ass wheels will get ripped right off the first pothole it comes to
- blankoboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I personally think that any future taxi designs should have the driver and passenger(s) completely separated and not using a standard consumer vehicle design. The plastic barriers they put in between the driver and passengers is not sufficient. It should be a separate compartment not unlike a paddy wagon (with more comfort of course hehe).
- greatromance, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Taxis of the future? More like tricked out modern taxis that I wouldn't want to be seen in... No digg.
- PunkPortrais, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Edit: I was beat to the punch
- wily6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Legos
- CoheedRock, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Why is there a Taxi Expo in the first place?
- xeno439, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Now if we could just get them to speak English, that would be worthwhile.
- purpleabottle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Those are great!
- timacx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Eh, in 8 years (2015) they'll all look like this anyways: http://www.ketzer.com/backtothefuture/bttf2_cab.jpg
It's not futuristic until it looks like that. - generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Will these cabs have robot drivers modeled after Robert Picardo?
- TheWalkingDude, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I was hoping for Bruce Willis clones:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCaomvjPIok - jotatmo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I think they should focus more on what the car runs on and it's effect on the environment than how it looks. But hopefully they considered that.
- KingMoses, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That cab is boxy and ugly, but for some strange reason, I think I like the idea of boxy, ugly taxis.
- digital, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Is that made out of Lego pieces?
- DrScott, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Get ready! It's CRAAAZY TAXI!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Totally Rad!
I hope that ain't copyright. - ivosilva, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Oh, look, they're still yellow...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1@marshall007:
From the article:
"The internal combustion engine of the Standard Taxi, shown here, can be converted to run on natural gas and hold an extralarge tank in its trunk so drivers don't have to waste time filling up during their shift."
"Hybrid Technologies shows off a concept L-PT Cruiser Yellow Cab. The L stands for lithium, as in the lithium ion battery pack that would give the car a range of 120 miles and a top speed of 80 mph." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0you are a piece of *****, you are complaining of the taxis, then maybe you should get your own car. if thats too expensive then leave new york or dont complain you cheap piece of ***** *****
rofl at you saying "new york ***** city" yea you sound like a hard ass let me tell you, youre so cool.
was the real reason of your post to brag about you living in NYC. - racecarjones, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2hey! Thoes are CARS!
- OhJay, on 10/12/2007, -16/+13@electricfuneral
He's not ragging on the US. He's ragging on US cabs as well as cabs from Continental Europe. There's huge difference. - nogChoco, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Global warming much?! That first one's a safari-taxi!
- marshall007, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3It doesn't look like something that would get very good gas millage, then again, it probably runs on hydrogen fuel or uranium
