- somesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16its cool aside from the fact that you cant put trucks on those and skate.
- jizzimmy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15Somehow I doubt that. Dugg for skateboard and Space Invaders combo.

- somesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7upon clicking some other links, it appears that you can. my bad.
- elef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Oh no! So many rubik's cubes pay the price for one awesome deck.
- FenderF4i, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Someone should tell him he can just buy the tiles from Rubik's instead of having to buy the cubes and peeling them off each one.
- AtomB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Does anyone know where to get a Rubik's cube with the tiles because I have the kind with the stickers and they end up peeling off after about a month of use. Please help!
- gfixler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Also, if you're really into it, get either a black, or white "Assembly Cube" from the Rubik's site. You put them together yourself, adjust spring tension to your liking, and they're made to a significantly higher quality level than the store bought kind - 25th Anniversary Cubes typically at the moment.

Also, *definitely* get the PVC stickers. I bought 2 from the store with the polypropylene stickers, and they were peeling by the second day. When I bought my assembly cubes, one came with polypropylenes, because their inventory goes out of stock for extended periods, and there were no cubes in that color with PVC stickers at the time. When the cubes arrived, I accidentally used the crappy ones on the black assembly cube. They were peeling within the week. I made extra sure to apply the PVC ones on the white assembly cube, and they've been stuck solid through months of use. I can't believe they even make the polypropylene stickers. They're complete garbage.
Here are 3 pics of trying to color back in one of the 25th Anniversary Cubes with Sharpies when tons of the labels flaked away (after only a few weeks of use):

- hlynch1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if you go to http://www.speedcubing.com and go to tons building corner or something of the sort he sells high quality cubes i believe.
- redsox32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2good luck trying to grind with that, looks very slippery.
- AtomB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2thank you both very much!
- Cauterized, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I would love to skate with it. And too slippery? pssh, there is no such thing.
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow, I'd imagine original Rubik's Cubes would have some value, especially if they used tiles on their faces; I've only known them to have stickers. In which case, they must be pretty worthless (or that deck was the most expensive deck ever,) if it's not more economical to purchase similar tiles from a hobby/craft store. The only time I've ever seen cubes with tiles are the cheap knock-off ones at the dollar shops.
- danr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This guy is a pretty well known artist, and has been putting up tile versions of the space invader aliens on walls, streets, billboards, etc. all over the world for years. Tiles being permanent, and a great way to recreate the look of pixels in the real world. He himself goes by "space invader" and has printed maps detailing just some of the places the aliens have been put up. There is one on the Hollywood sign in LA, aliens in Paris, Tokyo, NYC, etc.
Check out the site: http://www.space-invaders.com/ - ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 but picture the bails. explosion of tiles! everywhere!
- xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2enough
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can also replace your stickers with official Rubik's PVC sticker tiles. They're rated for 250 million rubs and are the designed for heavy-duty cubing. As far as I know, they're only officially available directly from the Rubik's website: https://secure.rubiks.com/lvl3/index_lvl3.cfm?lan=eng&lvl1=produc&lvl2=rubbrn&lvl3=collec&lvl4=pvcstk
- chubbyduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just clean up a version and get your own made at boardpusher: http://www.boardpusher.com
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6How many rubik's cubes did he have to buy and take apart for this?
- vinchu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's not made of rubiks tile. it just got the color from. tiles are glass colored tiles
- ButtSpasm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i would assume. http://www.rubiks.com/ if you are going to find it anywhere.. of course i did not check to be sure.
--edit.. whoops.. hit the wrong reply button.. :O this should reply to the post below.. - defunct123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1For all the people who are moaning about not being able to skate this or how it will soon be ruined, this is just a piece of art, not every deck has to be ridden.
Just appreciate the design. It's a cool idea done well. - isewise, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You can design your own skateboard here:
http://www.boardpusher.com/BP/ - AoiTakuma, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1How long would those tiles last after being used? im sure they'd be super slidable for a little while but then theyd start to chip and break and it would look even worse than a regular deck. still though, this seems like it would be cool for an art piece or even a sunday afternoon project
- rtjac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Cool effect. But Rubik's cubes were decorated with cheap stickers, not "tiles".
- mousy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3unique effect
- JO3M4N, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0It looks cool...i would buy one over most other decks.
- Spazkake, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1http://digg.com/design/Space_Invader_Skateboards
- IMustBeEmo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1If they were made of some nice wood that is actually skateable, I'd buy it. The "Above the City" one looks really cool.
- Beetlesweb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3No one else freaked out by the mask on the table? Seems slightly random to me, heh
- psylence, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Skateboarders are criminals
- erratictoad, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0I note that the originals had a picture taken and that was transplanted to a limited number of "real" decks.
My teen is in love with them .... - Schug, on 10/12/2007, -19/+5This guy must've been made fun of a lot more than I was when he was a kid.
