BOOOOOOOO!!! - eridius, on 10/12/2007, -2/+62You mirrored a Flickr image?
That's pretty amusing. - placain, on 10/12/2007, -4/+64He mirrored it on /imageshack/. That's even more amusing.
- weareglass, on 10/12/2007, -5/+61I just don't understand why he added the red, it doesn't seem to add anything
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -6/+54HOW do people confuse "definitely" and "defiantly"? Think about how differently they're pronounced!
- roastedbagel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+46Even though the red was created in post, I think it'll make a nice desktop background for now. Nice pic.
- Snowy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+36I am digging this story up because it didn't use the words AMAZING and didn't have a description written by a 13 year old. The poster let the art speak for itself!
- binky79, on 10/12/2007, -7/+37I think this is a cool pic.
I'm not really replying to the first person to comment on this story.
I just think that my opinion of this picture is too important to put at the bottom of the page.
Because I'm better than all of you. - ho0ber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31"Did you read the article? This is a picture of the lightbulb burning out. They can't "keep taking the photo" unless they go prepare another bulb."
I'm pretty sure the person you're replying to understands that. Also, lightbulbs are quite the large investment at a matter of cents per bulb, so clearly it is unfathomable to take a few attempts at the shot. - snurfle, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31It's you.
You look like a penis.
;~} - Nitro187, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22How to photograph this yourself:
http://www.diyphotography.net/photography-project-a-burning-light-bulb - ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19In all the ink blot tests you've taken, you seen a penis in every one of them, haven't you? It is a disease called P.I. or Penis Infatuation. You might want to have that looked at.
The disease, not your penis. - Valleye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19It is not blurry. That is lens flare that is making it look like that. The light is so intense it is causing internal reflections to reduce contrast and make this image soft.
It is a well done shot. - djfelix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Flickr Link:

Are you willing to learn partial differential equations? - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Over 1,100 people care, apparently.
- xt0ph3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10He added an un-colored version. It looks fantastic.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Well, how do you know he meant "definitely?" It's entirely possible that he intended to say that the red makes the picture look cooler, against the wishes of someone. Therefore, the red is defying someone, and defiantly makes the picture look cooler. Don't be jumping to no conclusions here.
- Cottonmouthy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Nevertheless, it is appreciated by those of us who had the flickr link blocked by the vileness that is websense
- JRumph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yeah, definitely a cool photo but I would like to see it without the red, just to see how much different it would look "natural".
- LeggNet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Here's the shot unedited (except for cropping, contrast and noise reduction): http://flickr.com/photos/richlegg/380655101/
- Mesach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"True, but how many people didn't care?"
Apparently not enough to get it buried. - Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6... we then did the same with our Web server.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Saw this guy do it first:

http://tommyguns.gfxartist.com/artworks/131834 - scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wonder what an intact bulb burning out would look like?
- joshhan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6As is your comment...
- idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13I defiantly don't understand either, Klarth.
- heatman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The best part about the minimal editing picture below is he added for people on Digg who he knew would bitch a moan that it was edited/fake.
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3More of his shots (from his flickr account):
http://www.flickr.com/photos/richlegg/sets/72157594501895154/ - NumberFour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3oh jesus. Its a mushroom cloud. They have nukes in lightbulbs now, we're all *****.
- daimposter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3wow, i didn't know when a light bulb burns out it does so in the shape of a penis. (don't lie...you all see the penis; especially in the 2nd pic).
- WallnutBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3why did he put the red in? the unedited ver. looks so much better!
..>.> - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How may Freudian psychologists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Two - one to screw in the light bulb, and the other to hold the penis... I mean ladder. - xDMCx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love how everyone calls it "fake" haha like he didn't really take a pic of what it is. It's a REAL photograph he just added the red and purple to make it more appealing than the plain white (Which he ALSO posted) Geez everything is fake to you people.
- kursefour20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That picture is awsome. I like.
- kevxross, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Scroll down, he added one with minimal editing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8why does it make a mushroom.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can see the non-red version further down on the page...
- ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You were the second person to admit they see a penis in the picture...see above comments.
...or click link below.

- TheMidnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's an interesting photograph. I'm interested in why the smoke formed the particular mushroom shaped plume it did, and at the angle it came out. Instead of straight up, or in every direction, the smoke shoots up at about 70 degrees (visual estimate) and then curls back into itself like an atomic explosion. Normally a bulb doesn't burn out because the glass bulb is filled with argon and prevents the intense heat of the tungsten from reacting with...oxygen? I don't know too much about light bulb physics, but I do know that wire was at about 3000 degrees Celcius when it flashed white. That still doesn't explain the shape of the smoke...not to mention it looks extremely ideal, with little turbulence.
- traviscaruth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"im working on it...."

I am in ur noun, verbing ur noun.) - jepizacar, on 08/24/2008, -0/+1nice resource....
