- Conway, on 03/12/2008, -1/+181Nice thumbnail image for this post. Has nothing to do with the story, but still got me to click.
- zdislaw, on 03/12/2008, -0/+71From the article:
"Could you tell which of these two pictures is the original one, and which one the ‘fake’, retouched image? I had to look twice, because it seemed nearly impossible. It’s the right one."
Thank goodness the retouching was lame enough to tell, because the text sure didn't help! - 0rion16, on 03/12/2008, -1/+52Why does the re-touched girl at the bottom have chalky crackhead lips?
- NathanielJ, on 03/12/2008, -0/+44No kidding; someone needs to learn how to write coherent sentences.
Also, I'd be much more impressed if they managed to start with the picture on the left and create the picture on the right. Everyone and their mother can airbrush, but adding imperfections actually takes skill. - TBorachio, on 03/12/2008, -0/+37CS3 and a little meth goes a long way.
- Seiken, on 03/12/2008, -2/+35who in their right mind thinks removing freckles is a good idea?!
- QuickFix, on 03/12/2008, -0/+27ppfftt... two lousy and obvious examples of photoshopping gone crazy.
bury - Insolence, on 03/12/2008, -0/+26You're, right
- inactive, on 03/12/2008, -0/+24People who get off on androids and mannequins?
- zephc, on 03/12/2008, -0/+15"Could you tell which of these two pictures is the original one, and which one the ‘fake’, retouched image? I had to look twice, because it seemed nearly impossible. It’s the right one."
Is it just me mis-parsing this, or is that an ambiguous answer to their own question?
(And don't answer me with 'Yes' unless you want to get hit) - bsonline, on 03/13/2008, -2/+16You are the kind of guy I hate hanging out with. No matter where we are or what we are doing, you are the type of guy that always did something or went somewhere better. A little advice, it doesn't make you cooler. It makes you annoying.
- kingUssop, on 03/12/2008, -2/+15Decent PS airbrushing, but I could tell the fake right away since airbrush looks... airbrushed.
- jellygraph, on 03/12/2008, -0/+12I prefer imperfections... the girl at the bottom was much better looking before than after... oh, and my wife is a far better photo retoucher than this, which makes me kinda laugh that Amy Dresser is referred to as a master retoucher, if this is the best she can do
- fhornplayer, on 03/13/2008, -0/+11no, stop. really.
- smrekar, on 03/12/2008, -0/+11just 2?
- mikedub1219, on 03/12/2008, -3/+14thats called, advertising
- MookiBlaylock, on 03/12/2008, -2/+13creepy
- gypsi, on 03/12/2008, -1/+11i don't know what you guys are seeing - the first sample is horrible and horrifying.
- mykalimba, on 03/12/2008, -2/+12"Could you tell which of these two pictures is the original one, and which one the ‘fake’, retouched image? ... It’s the right one."
Holy piss-poor grammar and paragraph structure! Is the right one the original or the fake!?!? - jedimasta, on 03/12/2008, -0/+10I'll grant that the old woman, young girl retouch is impressive, but not being able to tell which was real? Sorry, it should be pretty obvious. In fact, the retouch all but screams airbrushed.
- inactive, on 03/12/2008, -1/+10It's a bit overdone, yeah. Maybe the description 'professional photo retoucher' should be changed to 'almost a cartoonist.'
- beuhjonny, on 03/12/2008, -0/+9I find the girl in the second set MUCH prettier before the retouching than after.
- Ignotus, on 03/13/2008, -0/+9"Could you tell which of these two pictures is the original one, and which one the ‘fake’, retouched image? I had to look twice, because it seemed nearly impossible. It’s the right one."
The right one is what? Is it the retouched one or the original?
"I’ve been browsing trough her comple portfolio"
What? - inactive, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7Yeah, this is possibly the one time where an unclear antecedent actually ruined the story.
FAIL - rkef, on 03/12/2008, -1/+8"Could you tell which of these two pictures is the original one, and which one the ‘fake’, retouched image? I had to look twice, because it seemed nearly impossible. It’s the right one."
Which is the right one? Nice writing, that. Now I'll never ***** know. - Jams, on 03/12/2008, -0/+6Here you go: http://cg-pixel.com.nyud.net/photo-retouching.html
- dezmo, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6im still confused. which one is the photoshopped one?
- inactive, on 03/12/2008, -4/+10I looked at her other works. It’s amazing what some people can do with photo editing software. I know how hard it is because I tried to correct some of my own pictures and I just wind up ruining it. Good job Amy.
- etx313, on 03/12/2008, -0/+6Thats actually done in 3d with Modo 301, I've seen it before. I have no idea what it has to do with this article...
- daRoach, on 03/13/2008, -1/+7No?
- Muncher, on 03/13/2008, -1/+6Yeah, I definitely think she looks more attractive in the original image.
- bsonline, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4It's how the Ginger Kids get their pictures out there.
- BingoPower, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4As soon as I saw it, I thought "Uncanny Valley"
- rjprux, on 03/12/2008, -2/+6mirror?
- wizzroom, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4"Learn how to add makeup to face, how to clear face and basically create someone from normal to beauty."
So they are basically suggesting that a girl without makeup isn't beautiful? I love how blatantly superficial modern society has become. - thesonofdarwin, on 03/13/2008, -1/+5How can you type when you are holding your epeen with one hand and shaking your fist at the world with the other. Mutated freak.
- amirman, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4"Could you tell which of these two pictures is the original one, and which one the ‘fake’, retouched image? I had to look twice, because it seemed nearly impossible. It’s the right one." that is ***** up! i will never know.
- Sabazou, on 03/13/2008, -2/+6I knew it was a shop too I could tell from some of the pixels and from having seen quite a few shops in my time
- MrTito, on 03/12/2008, -1/+5It always seems to me that working on pictures of yourself is hard because of self-criticism. No matter how I dress it up, I have a "Yar, I'm not attractive" reaction. Trying working on pictures of friends or family, people you care about or find attractive. It also helps to have a good, light-balanced photo to start with.
- Ignotus, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4with a shovel
- Anonymous3, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3I was thinking it was really good until I realised a few seconds later she had removed all the wrinkles and blemishes instead of taking some edited model shot and adding all that in (now that would've been much cooler). All the 'have a guess' talk was making it sound like a trick question...
- DanielT01, on 03/12/2008, -1/+4mirror http://3dand2d.com/photo-retouching.html
- gothelium, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3"3. First of all I'll make the pickles and blemishes to disappear:"
I'm guessing the author doesn't speak English as a first language... - daRoach, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3True, I would have been much more impressed if the picture on the picture on the left were the original.
- mwmccullough, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3It's obvious which are the "cleaned up" versions. Unfortunately for the girls, it's not an improvement. The over softness and splotchyness of her forehead are too much.
- fhornplayer, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3The reflections are all wrong.
- inferno10, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3After seeing the first image in the article, I thought I was looking at a Digg advertisement...
- dualityim, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3I thought that was stupid too. "It's the right one" doesn't even answer the question.
- amirman, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3"Could you tell which of these two pictures is the original one, and which one the ‘fake’, retouched image? I had to look twice, because it seemed nearly impossible. It’s the right one." WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- louiebaur, on 03/12/2008, -0/+3Impressive.
