- bryanjones, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40I think looking cool is the point.

"Looks like there's some electricity between us..." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I thought it would be way cool if you tap it twice or something and a virtual menu pops up with a list of drinks you could order, just to see what the bartender's serving up. That would kick major ass.
...PATENT PENDING. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I forsee drunk people in such bars talking to the table ;)
- afruff23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16THis thing probably costs a lot. Higher costs to make a bar equals more expensive alcohol = you buying less alcohol = women being uglier = a world full of uglies
Stop ugliness now, and don't support this technology. - The_Dude, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16wouldn't work at a real drinking place. Too many people would spill their drinks trying to use that bar.
- ejdmoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Digg isn't a competition.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12no, that whole video was CGI...
- rutterj2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10yeah, let us know how that works out for you bro
- billybadtail, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10maybe he wants to know the point
- dralezero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9To get more people into the cool looking bar to take up drinking.
- martyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8heck yes. and tables, windows, walls, BEDS
- falloutsyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -13/+21I'm commentless.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+17That's what she said?
- bseay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It would be hilarious to watch you try to use that line!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7now we need floors like that
- bossm4n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Spelling four letter words with all your empties FTW.
- mrmejw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If I ever got drunk in a bar that had a counter like this, forget it... im going to puke everywhere.
- vbsurfer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11"Whats the point?"
Whats the point of you taking the time in coming to this site and typing that for us to question? - whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I wouldn't have dugg you down if you hadn't used all CAPS at the beginning like you were screaming for attention. LOOK AT ME I SUBMITTED THIS FIRST READ MY STORY AND MAKE MY STATS GO UP!! =-}
- Talguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow i really want to know how to make a bar top kind of like that one
- shelby1076, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Perhaps, that is the coolest bar I've ever seen. Perhaps
- hohokus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5wonder what happens when it gets wet..
- Hydraulix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It would be even better if this was a LSD bar.
- speedyrev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Maybe a cool bar, but it's on a burned out server.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Dude, that line sucks. But it _would_ cause you to instinctively draw your eyes toward that hot chick at the bar, as well as her eyes being drawn to the guy behind that drink you're holding.
AND it would probably be intense cutting up and tootin' a phat ass line o' blow. But then again, I wouldn't know what that's like. - abbtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here are some more cool bars:
http://hackedgadgets.com/2006/05/24/top-5-cool-tables/ - canadianguy33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The point is that it's cool. If you had a bar near like that wouldn' t you go check it out?...You probably would and you'd probably have a few drinks too.
I looked into pricing for this type of bar for a friend of mine and it costs $7,500 USD per 1 metre module plus $130/hr for a programmer/technician (that's not including the fact that we're in Canada and they're in Sweden). We figured it would be around $60,000 for a twelve foot bar when all was said and done. I'm not sure this system would pay for itself with the demographic we were looking into but I'm 100% sure that there's a market for their 'I-bar' as it is totally awesome!
Also, it's not just 'eye candy'. It can basically display anything your regular computer screen can display with the added feature of being a touch screen. From their brochure "The Software consists of two parts %u2013 tracking and displaying. The tracking
software is an inherent part of the iBar-System. All objects are
tracked and their position is transmitted to the displaying-software.
The displaying-software can be adapted to your needs. The use of pictures,
text, movies, interactive control-elements (buttons) as well as 3Dobjects
is possible.
The software %u201EConnectivity%u201C, which is included by default, will draw
circular animations around the tracked objects and connect all of them
with luminous lines." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I think getting people to debate on the point is the point. But that's just me.
- jrbryner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They have the same thing on tables in upstairs of McDonald's in downtown Chicago. It's been there for well over a year. Except the ones at McDonald's switch interfaces every few minutes, so at one time you may be moving "lava" around on the table, another time you may be playing with geometric shapes.
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This thing is sexy.
- Deschain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What an amazing piece of art. I really get an awesome feeling when I see people using technology to be creative like this. They help break down that nerd stereotype ;)
- crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its on the site

Phone: +41 61 322 50 93 - vajra918, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2all the work is done from projectors, the bar itself is completely inert. soooo nothing happens when it gets wet.
- vajra918, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you didn't RTFA, its not a touch pad.
- koick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I'd say this is one of the few titles that can drop the word 'Perhaps'.
- delerivm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The song is "Out of Time" by Levitation. You can find it on the "Cafe Del Mar Vol. 4" compilation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caf%C3%A9_del_Mar#Volume_4 - JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There needs to be scrolling RSS headlines of digg on it. And when you tap on a headline it pops up near where you clicked it.
- tittayz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i'd like some electric kool-aid on the rocks please!
- sstidman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Good idea though, perhaps they will include some type of touch video game too?"
Check out this page for some of it's other uses: http://www.i-bar.ch/en/examples/
The system can currently play "iBar Pong". It can also serve as a kiosk by presenting interactive menus. - r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So does anyone know how this thing works? It's not due to the weight of the object, it's due to the shadow it casts... So is there cameras in the ceiling looking down at the bar? Or light sensors actually in the table?
I'd love a write up of this, and see what software was running etc. - culebra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone know what that song was in the video? Pretty bad ass. Post here if you do.
- whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Am I the only person who noticed it slowed down when a lot of stuff got on the "shelf"?? I wonder if this could handle hundreds of people leaning on it at a popular club. How strong is it? Is it fast enough to respond to other input. for instance, what if you had "water" you were projecting and the drinks made ripples? I can see this getting really old really fast if that's the only pattern it can do. very cool stuff but I think it has a way to go before we see it in bars.
