- EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+108I don't see a single intersection. I see tons of over- and under-passes. I see on ramps. I see off ramps. I see no intersections.
- jmontes, on 10/12/2007, -10/+89Not true. We can quit any time. We can. Yes we can.
- Moeface, on 10/12/2007, -8/+57Digg has an intersection fetish.
- chesterjosiah, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38Yeah but they forgot A ∩ B
- joeshlub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30Ever wonder if maybe some people use digg not to waste their lives away, but instead to just check out what other people think is cool, and perhaps comment occasionally? A lot of people just want a 10 minute browse now and then just to see some cool stuff. Elitist diggers need to realize that the VAST majority of Digg readers are just casual observers, not new story scouring machines.
- Rowan187, on 10/12/2007, -6/+32damnit i need to get homework done. DIGG YOU DISTRACT ME!

Does that include you? So, which are you: an idiot, or a hypocrite? - tommyvercetti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Why does the article say "In the West"?
- nonsapiens, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23What the hell has that got to do with it?
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21No *****. Not an intersection one.
Its just on-off ramps at highway interchanges...looks difficult from that point of view, but they are generally not difficult to drive through... lame. - Legionaire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20OK, spaghetti junctions seem daunting from the air, but you don't have to deal with criss crossing traffic from all angles...So..if you have a particular aversion to roundabouts, I suggest you stay away from the "magic" roundabout:

Enjoy. :) - Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Why would you want to quit?
- screensnot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The Russian one is a stupid example. To make the turn they wanted to make, you simply turn left 1 block earlier (you can't see it, because the picture is cropped too small). The people wanting to make the left that they described would be local traffic only, and they would all know that you can't make a left at that particular intersection. I'm sure that nobody follows the stupid path that they drew in there.
Here it is on Google Maps:
http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&q=&z=15&ll=55.773218,37.542&spn=0.012262,0.042915&t=h&om=1 - chip0wa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Ok that Russian intersection is insane... No way I would figure that all out. Take the bus or walk or something...
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10They don't call it the "urban jungle" for nothing... complete with the wild animals driving in it.
- screensnot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I'm assuming the loops are to gain/lose elevation. To keep the road from having to steep of a hill, they needed the road to be longer, so they made the loops.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Hahaha!
All your concentration is belong to Digg! - gripboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7why is this under 'Technology'??
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -1/+7Because civil engineering involves technology?
- screensnot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Although these look complicated from the air, they aren't complicated or confusing when you are in your car, and following the signs.
And a roundabout would slow traffic way down in most of these spots. - Rowan187, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6wanna see the wildest in my city?

woo i live on a secluded island - MadOtaku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I am not a new user, but I am a rather busy person. When I have time, I like to digg deeper, but it is pretty far down on my (digg) list of things to do. Before I do that, I read the news, watch the vids, see how my comments are faring, check on my favorite podcasts, and check the most popular in 24 hours.

"You guys really need roundabouts"
Roundabouts would most certainly *not* work for the level of traffic most interstate interchanges see during rush-hour traffic. Besides, as confusing as those interchanges look from an aerial perspective, they're extremely simple to drive through. - cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9It doesn't. It says "Western drivers", meaning that Western drivers get confused by the stupid intersections in Europe and other places.
- aurrea, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Did anyone notice the "turtles be born" link on that page?
Much better than the freeways. - Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Here's the one in Albany, NY. Pretty cool from the Air.

and this one is about a mile further down the road:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=albany,+ny&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=17&ll=42.666841,-73.733786&spn=0.005704,0.013561&t=k&iwloc=addr - marshallk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That blog is on fire - several Digg front page posts in the past week and a link from BoingBoing.
- atozand1to10, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Rotate that map 90° CCW and there you have it.
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Macau&ll=22.140159,113.546813&spn=0.006712,0.012842&t=h&hl=en - op12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4As if we don't have any stupid intersections of our own...what's more annoying is when there's "no left turn" signs on roads that aren't very busy or "no turn on red" when there's absolutely no traffic. That's a lot worse and more annoying than circling around on and off-ramps.
- kwago, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3one from San Antonio, TX
they are adding more onto it too.

...as though Europe weren't Western? - squegie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4My favorite is of course, or local Breezewood, PA.
Goole Maps doesn't quite do it justice. Essentially, this is one of two places in the country where a 2-digit Interestate has a stop light. I-70 comes to a stop light on RT 30, and then you follow RT 30 for about a mile to get onto I-70 again (in fact, I-70 is merged with I-76, a toll road).

http://digg.com/movies/Unbelievable_traffic_in_Saigon_intersection - dheaddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Where's Birmingham's 'Spaghetti Junction'? Birmingham, it's bloody great
- spocky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, it's where China and Macau roads meet, necessitating a switch from LHD to RHD, or vice-versa.
- cyclopsface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i thought that was wierd too - the first intersection's in Atlanta.
- GeekGrrrl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The Orange Crush: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Crush_interchange
... is infuriating. - geektanic08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2haha spaghetti junction in atlanta isn't that confusing when you're actually driving on it.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is the wildest in my city.

a simple roundabout would have sorted that out.
On the subject of roundabouts, I'm surprised this didn't make it to the list:

River valley.
Those aerial shots don't do it justice. - rayblasdel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2>.> Those are interchanges not intersections. While the complexity of some of them is mind boggling, they usually are pretty easy to navigate.
- intelsucks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe the proper term here is "interchange".
- kodachrome22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Golden Glades Interchange in North Miami is the worst one I know of (and probably the worst one in South Florida).

In all fairness, it isnt all that bad when you are driving on it. But it does look intimidating when you look at it from above.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=07302&ie=UTF8&z=16&ll=40.708052,-74.172113&spn=0.013289,0.031521&om=1 - Putemup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What's the deal with these titles on Digg recently? We need an idiot-proof title maker or something.
Anyway, that Moscow "intersection" was some crazy stuff. I wonder how many cars flow through those roads every day. -
