- fak3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4one word, sitemaps. then have them delivered to Google everytime you update. It's a long process, but is simplifed by some plugins for Blogs, like Wordpress -- it just does it automatically. I hit Google and look at the links for my site, they're all there. Nice.

If you click on the link, it turns lighter blue. On regular websites, the default is purple, but originally, Digg's "visited" links weren't very different from the "regular" unclicked links. Drupal's good for community efforts, but for personal blogs, it's overkill on the wrong features and severely underwhelming on the right features (for blogs).
Let's not even mention how unbelievably db-intensive Drupal can be. WP can be a bitch about this, but Drupal makes WP look like a db-access miser by comparison. And the Drupal code is so convoluted that it essentially rules out customizing/hacking the software for most users...
Did I mention that WP also has SEO friendly URLs? - valona, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For the most part I don't want most blogs to have improved search engine rankings. Except in a minority of cases, the average blog seems to consist of a poorly worded synopsis, and a link to another blog, which in turn links to another blog. The 'blogsphere' is a steaming pile of *****, into which you are forced to root around to find the occassional diamond. Many of them are little more than revenue generators, glorified banner farms. The concept of home produced reporting and bringing the media back to the people is a very noble one. However the implementation is for the most part, a major disappointment. I'd also prefer if the average tech blog consisted of more than:
1) Wild rumours about Apple's next product release.
2) Wild rumours about how much Microsoft's next release will suck balls.
3) Ballmer chair throwing jokes.
4) An endless chain of trackbacks and links, which almost always ends at an Amazon 'Buy Me Now' webpage. - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I've had some of the titles on Digg become a lighter shade of blue, and some not.

In fact I am not a big fan of internet adverts.

I thought it might be a problem with one of my greasemonkey scripts, but disabling it didn't change anything (and there's no reason why it only happens with this one story).
