- ricorick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Cool Idea. It's cool watching it gather data to generate Video. Now if you could get it too use your own photos...That would be awesome!!
- BNJM, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18I don't get it.
- JayWright, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I don't get it either. What the hell do weird black and white pictures and designs have to do with my weather???
- VadimKatchkakov, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Also me! The song for sunset is not here for me at all!
- merkle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i dugg it.. and then it promptly crashed my camino browser. :-/
- tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2kinda wierd
- Mechpilotnorris, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I still have no idea what my weather forecast is...
- Reliant, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Digg effect!
- TKn00b, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Anyone have a different link to this?
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -27/+3gay music unfortuneately
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -13/+8I didn't know that music had a sexuality! Maybe I should post this on the front page as a science finding!
- Kazanoe, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Lycoloco: DIdn't you read the artical that told us about how AOL had made the genres gay and lesbian music?
also, It told me I live in Germany, no I dont, I live in Calgary, Canada! - Dragular, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Germany... Canada... what's the difference? Ya'll are all foreigners ;)
- mrfollicle, on 10/12/2007, -23/+4cool idea
i agree though
gay music - Kyle1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15It says my location is Augsburg Germany and I'm in Florida.
- Solis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well I thought mine was off, but your's is much worse! Mine says I'm in Buffalo, NY when in actuality I'm in Scranton, PA.
Even though mine isn't as off as your's it's still pretty wildly wrong. - geekluv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmm...I'm in Florida too but it it was correct, even got the right city.
Pretty interesting concept. - Chongo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4from the MAKING OF section of the site:
"To get that data it is necessary to identify the viewer's location first. This is possible with the help of Geobytes.com. Geobytes.com is an American company that provides information of 36.557 cities worldwide. The System localises the viewer through his/her IP-Address. If the localisation fails, the default City is Augsburg, Germany." - oxuultae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The same thing happened to me, however, I'm in Minnesota so I'm sure the weather can't be too much different ..
- Solis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well I thought mine was off, but your's is much worse! Mine says I'm in Buffalo, NY when in actuality I'm in Scranton, PA.
- rezryder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I like the music and i am not gay, nice visualizations and good beats.
- Simplogic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Wow, that was amazing! Funky weird lines and moving green gradients accurately describe the 48 degree weather here in Chicago. Cool idea, but kinda lame.
- HaltingPoint, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Interesting concept, but something tells me it doesn't differ enough between weather variables visually to really be anything more than a "look at it once and go bleh" thing. All in favor?
- mrfollicle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4aye
- Double-Z, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cool use of geodata and flash. I wish it had got my location correct though, it's obviously using my IP address.
- Dwebtron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2does this not work for anybody else?
- mhl12, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4i bet it's totally random..
- BigBlock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I cant get accurate weather reports now...so the music will emphasis the erroneous reports. I could just see myself dancing to some bumpin beats of a hail storm when in fact its sunny. My office has no windows. Tight!
- dtrinh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very cool - I like it a lot :P
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Doesn't seem to work. :(
- Hydroxyl, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Haha, the 'digg' effect has taken place.
- xshaisu, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Too bad the music sucks.
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is flash movie won a international flash award...I think it is the first place or something. Real cool.
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.theunseenvideo.com/menue_v1.swf says "The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."
Ouch. - DudeAbides, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Good idea, Not a good song, and not enough action
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.theunseenvideo.com/video/quicktime/youmakemefeel_mix.htm
this compares the differences of separate countries/weather conditions and how it affects the music video.. - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Try the QuickTime one. There is a video of what it is like.
- GaleForce, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I want my 2 minutes back.
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Hm, I absolutely love the idea, but the song really isn't good...sounds like a poor attempt at the postal service/death cab. I would like to see a Radiohead version of this...lol fans of them will know what I mean.
- blatch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I got redirected to an ad page after trying the dynamic version.
- Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not that it matters, but this is old. I don't know if it's been on digg before, but it was on one forum or another sometime last year.
- Pile, on 10/12/2007, -20/+1I want my 30 seconds back
http://bsalert.com/- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6quit spamming your link jackass
- chr1snv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2wow, pretty cool, but either this guys coding skills are *****, or flash is *****. What the crap is with the best seen with more than a 3 ghz computer? this crap could run on a freaking pentium 75 if this noob learned assembely
- chr1snv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1But, to his defense, the idea, the stlying, and the art is first rate
- shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i had to mess around with the flash some but i got it working, not that intersting i dont think
- LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I dont like it, it is pretty stupid. The guy has skills, but I am not interested.
- Luthor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Kinda weird, kinda cool...kinda dugg
- critic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I like my dialers to come as Hula Dancers.
- SloppyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It is an intersting concept, They probably use the weather informatoin as variables in an equation to draw some of the lines and such...I think it could be done a bit differently to make it a little more interesting but +digg for the concept.
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's so cold here in New York, that the flash video just froze!
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2interesting idea, but the song they use is TERRIBLE.
- flexyble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does this works for international users as well?
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It sucked. It got the area right, but the video was totally random.. I had to shut it down. It was depressing me.....
Cyborg
notachance.... - SamboGT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Doesn't work well. It listed me as living in Richmond, Virginia and I live in Indiana.
- oxymoron9x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The novelty wore off after the first B&W pic. To get my interest back up, I'd like to know what elements of the weather effect what elements in the movie.
- gunner453, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it got my location right (Toronto, Canada) but the devolper spelled Canada Like Kanada :P
none the less cool idea
pointless but cool - Nyfeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Says I live in Bossier City, LA. I'm in Arkansas. It should atleast ask something like Wrong Town?
- Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It says I live in "Noble, USA"
It didn't even get the COUNTRY right. I'm in Montreal, Canada. With Bell Canada, the largets ISP in the country. I mean, look up my IP in *any* "ip to country" database and it'd show my IP as in Canada.
Heck, Google Analytics can even figure out what PART OF MONTREAL I live in.
And yet, this flash program can't even get the right country. Nice.
- Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It says I live in "Noble, USA"
- mesoed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The weather is much more interesting than the song
- JohnnySoftware, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is trivial to do with iTunes and a short script. It's scriptable on Windows using Javascript and on the Mac using AppleScript.
I have a playlist of all songs about "morning". My script is currently hardcoded to run that. I control it by setting the time I want it to go off in my calendar. I can do a repeating daily event, or just do it at various times on different days, all from the Calendar. I think it will turn on the Mac in the morning too, if it is in sleep mode.
It would be trivial to select different playlists based on the time of day the script is running at. Grabbing current weather from a web page or XML-RPC call is no big deal either. AppleScript has built in support for the latter and the former is accomplished just by having the script tell a browser to go get it from a page. - systemghost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, 2 gigs of ram and 3.4ghz apparently still has trouble running this thing. Cool, I guess.. But man. What a tax on CPU. Artists never want to compromise though, do they?
- kola_kidd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nice...
- neuraleyes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm confused.
decent music though. - pgm_01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting idea but not quite there, the geolocation was off by about 100 miles and had me in a different state. They should have partnered with adult friend finder. They ALWAYS know my location (except when using Tor :D ). I had no problems on my PIII 1 ghz with the flash so I don't know why you would need a 3ghz machine to view it properly.
