- SimianSamurai, on 10/24/2007, -12/+407oh man that's great. She's very attractive, and that's enough to keep my eyes off the actual article. Hell, the article is probably written by a feminist dogging on men for not paying attention... but how would I know? I'm busy...
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/24/2007, -19/+327"Blog? What blog?"
Hahaha! That's a good one!
I especially like the way that even though someone had already made it the same joke, you hijacked the first thread to make it look like you posted it first!
Good work, sir! - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -7/+199She's definately attractive, but I think it's more creepy than anything. How am I supposed to read when she's staring straight at me, smiling and mouthing words...
Even weirder, none of the other reporters have moving avatars, it's just her. She must have consciously decided to take that video of herself, edit it, encode it, and put it right there on her blog, or have someone do it for her. Either way, it's freaking weird as hell. - dynacrylic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+109I didn't even read the article and I'll digg it just because of the avatar. She reminds me of a chick in a porn flick too- the eyes moving, constant swaying, winking, smiling, saying hi.
Gawd girls like that make me think that I'll never break from my typical techie-chick look (which is very bland). I'm jealous...
What was the article about anyway? - Conway, on 10/12/2007, -1/+102I'm sure her inbox is now being flooding with digg perverts.
- FrankieB078, on 10/12/2007, -10/+106I'm sorry there was a blog on that page?
- polyGone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+92Notice it looks like she is saying something?
I wish I could read lips, or sink ships or something - nrvous250gt, on 10/12/2007, -14/+99beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder?
- wilsonics, on 10/12/2007, -2/+80Wow, you really liked that avatar, didn't you? ;)
- hoowahman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+83I think she loves me
- kalisphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+82I am a gentleman. Flashing is not required. Definitely appreciated, though.
- yasth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+79Really I just thought of harry potter I expected her to wander off the frame after a while.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+73That's just bizarre. I'd love to see the director's notes on that one. "Make sure there's a photo of a girl that looks like she's laughing at your jokes, and she might have sex with you later. All of our focus group testing said that's what people want when they are looking for the weather report."
- InsaneMachine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+71Someone needs to create GIF of that avatar.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+62You should see the way she looks at me.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -15/+69I was able to pull myself away from the avatar long enough to copy/paste this, so we can read it without distraction.
Have you ever wondered how migrating birds spend their days? Probably not. Neither had I. Until I read this article.
This is the time of year when you start to notice the absence of birds, the summer air no longer filled with their endless chattering and singing. When the fall air invades, the birds make like wealthy retirees and head south. Wouldn't it be great if we could all just pack up and head south for the winter? "Hmm, it's getting a little cold out, guys. I think I'll be in Argentina for the next few months. See you in May! Oh, and I'll still have my job, right?"
But much like humans, it appears that birds cannot go for long periods of time without catching forty (or, in their case, nine) winks. Can you imagine driving from Canada to Colombia without sleeping? Impossible! Thrushes can't do it either, apparently. In yet another article from msn.com, we find out that birds have a proclivity for the awesome technique known as "power napping".
Scientists kept this species of thrush in captivity for a couple of months, and found that during their migratory period, they reverse their sleep patterns so they can sleep by day and be awake to fly at night. But the sleep patterns also changed in duration and intensity - it was found that birds nap for sometimes as little as nine seconds at a time, then resume their flight plan. An interesting idea, though not something I'd want the captain of my US Airways flight to Bermuda to do.
But think about it - everyone has seen large flocks of birds flying through the air, then suddenly all alighting on the tops of a few trees. Maybe this is when they nap? And then suddenly the leader says "alright, everybody up, we've got a few thousand miles 'til the next Holiday Inn"!
If you read the article, pay special attention to the part where it says birds can nap with one side of their brains. They shut one eye, and one half of their brains shut down, but the other eye is open and alert in case of predators. Can you imagine if we humans could do that? I could keep an eye on my mischevious little dog while sleeping, and none of my shoes would ever get ruined. Brilliant!

Pretty boring
*theone3 goes back to staring at the avatar - baileylaw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+49That's hypnotic! It's impossible to read! Damn!
- wurzelgummage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+46It reminds me of newspapers in Harry Potter.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -22/+65So ***** distracting. Not even really all that attractive, but it's like trying to read with someone staring right at you.

She's obviously doing that for -my- benefit. Oh, and because news. - thegreatsam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32I wouldn't want to see how most bloggers look.
- TGKnIght, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32Yeah she is pretty cute, but I think I want to see what your techie-chick look is like :) Can you make an animated flash thingy for us? Thanks!
- isuisorisuaint, on 10/12/2007, -24/+55yer gay
- mv10, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32As loser as I might sound, I seriously couldnt read it. Her constant movement made me look at her.
Great Advertising - theone3, on 10/12/2007, -6/+35( . Y . )
- ShawnHunt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30Damn, girl! Sit still!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29I keep waiting for her to start stripping.
- TheRealTopherG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27I made it through the title... couldn't even get through the first sentence.

FTW - bightchee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Zoom in all the way. Then it just gets creepy.
- gabrielwalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25This is what "Flashblock" was created for. That way I can still be productive! Er, wait. The blog's kind of lame...
*clicks the little play button, to remove the block graphic*
Ooooo. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+32I think she's hot
- procdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+31yeah...cause you were expecting ***** on accuweather.com...
- orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29It looked like torture for her. Just sitting there in front of a camera. I say let it roll until she screams in pain , running away.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26An inane airhead who isn't marrying you.
- SolidSamus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28Sounds like the perfect woman. She can say yes in several different languages, she can cook, she can write things to get you hot, she drinks (yes wine I know but still.) has good taste in alcohol (wine again), plus she worked in an IT department. The only unknown is if she can clean, but I think that comes with cooking.
- webbsk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21"Gawd girls like that make me think that I'll never break from my typical techie-chick look (which is very bland). I'm jealous..."
@dynacrylic
Honey, you're preaching to the choir! Why doesn't geek chic extend to guys but not girls? Sigh..
And as a hetero chick, she still distracts me too. But it's really kind of creepy... I feel like hiding behind my chair to get away from her! - intheory, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28 Kate Bilo
Kate Bilo was born on June 20, 1981 in Rochester NY. She grew up in upstate New York and Rockland County, NY, before moving to Phoenixville, PA, where she spent her teenage years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Spanish and International Business from Penn State University.
Kate has always had a love of broadcasting and performing, and in her younger years this manifested itself in various ways: the broadcast announcements in high school, competing in pageants, and writing for her college newspaper. Kate started her career at AccuWeather in September 2004, originally working in the IT department but hoping eventually to take part in on-air television broadcasts. She began her television career in early 2005, thanks in part to the training of Expert Senior Meteorologist Bernie Rayno, and has since taken on several new television stations across the country in addition to being one of the main AccuWeather.com Wireless anchors. She can be seen on AccuWeather.com and Verizon V-Cast just about every day of the week! Kate is fluent in Spanish and also acts as a backup weather broadcaster for several Univision stations.
In addition to broadcasting, Kate has a love of writing, and is a published fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction writer. She speaks rudimentary French, Italian and Arabic, and would love to be fluent in at least five languages. She is also an accomplished cook and has a passion for fine wine. Feel free to email Kate at Bilo@accuweather.com to chat about weather, wine, or just about anything else! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Somebody should email her with a link to this thread.. I'll bet she'll be pretty creeped out.
- aposter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20See, that's why the women keep getting the restraing orders.
- aranyx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21@ procdaddy
I can picture it now:
"As you can see, it's getting a little cold out here..." - aposter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22He expects them everywhere.
- ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I don't think many diggers use the Internet productively.
- xtr3m, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20She's a female and I guess diggers don't see females that often.
- violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19@ webbsk
Dugg for hetero geek chic chick. Ouch, that hurt my brain. - jocnnor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Am watching the Saving Daylight video....
She looks better with black hair. Plus, she just got new highlights in it...(she tells you all about it).
She...wont...shut...up. I am tempted to stab the monitor with a pen.
An example of what she talks about.
"blah blah blah blah ....I'm learning about time zones, well taking a geography class at Mississippi State and in my geography class we have to do these math problems which are confusing, such as If your plane takes off at such-n-such a time in this time zone, and crosses a time zone at such-n-such a time, what time do you land in Tokyo and things like that which just boggles the mind, its so confusing blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah...."
I encourage you to watch it...but only after removing any items from around you that you might stab yourself with. - Glatz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Here is the link to the avatar.
