- smoothoperatah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+59wow, some spamtacular comments goin on here!
digg, consider yourself gamed. - Hoovooloo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29I agree. While starfighter seems to have been active for a while, this is the only story rebeltrooper has ever dugg or commented on, the first story tommyill has dugg or commented on in 122 days, the first story dugg by mindchase in 404 days, and the first story dugg be JFK99, who also happened to join today.
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I can't even tell how to use the site... boooooo. For any real CSS design stuff, head to the Zen Garden. http://www.csszengarden.com/
- tpaine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11marked as spam
- Hoovooloo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9People are marking it as spam because the first several comments are genericly pro-website, and many of the commentors had either been inactive for hundreds of days or joined today (including the submitter). Suspicious behavior, don't you think (that this would be the first digg for so many positive commentors)?
- berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12yea, i was wrong, the hype was not worth it.
- bradlyf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Poor design for a CSS site. Disorganized content everywhere. My eyes can't focus on anything.
Also the header images are way to small. Wouldn't be a problem if they were text, but I can't increase the size of images with command-+. Not the kind of accessibility I would expect from a CSS Gallery (or whatever the site is).
-Bradly - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I added their feed to my netvibes a few days ago. It doesn't display properly.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what is this crap? these sound like fake comments
- niardica, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2some other good design galleries are:
www.cssmania.com
www.cssremix.com
both of which I came across recently and love browsing the designs.. some of those people are extremely talented.. - TruSighT, on 04/26/2009, -0/+0http://CSSGallery.com is my one-stop starting point. They have over 500 CSS galleries listed.
- JoshuaKendall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ClimaxDesigns: Just so you know David, it's Alen, not Alex.
CSS Globe is not a design gallery. It is a place for "Web Standards News" where users contribute the news. It's not always their ideas, but sharing one's ideas is not frowned upon either. Alen has decided to show good examples of work in the "Spotlight" section and good examples of members work in the "Featured Member" section.
I find it to be a valuable daily resource that's why I dugg it. As far as those people who dugg it after just signing up, perhaps they signed up to digg it, but now that they have an account, they can digg anything else. Everyone has to start somewhere. Those who have been away for a while and came back to digg this. Well, maybe they just haven't seen anything worthy of digging. - udayd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have no comment on whether or not the first comments were spam (because I don't know if they were intended to be or not), but i decided to join to really see what it was about. It seems to be less of a design gallery and more of a network of designers and developers to share their portfolios and ideas.
- climaxdesigns, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wow you guys are being way to harsh and as far as the first comments being spam, come on, to accuse the poster of having a spam bot is over the top. I am the person who encouraged Alex to post his site, here, i didnt think it would be viewed as spam,.
On hinesight i should have posted it, but thats all 20-20 give the guy and the site a chance, when we spoke before he said this is his first delve into this type of site and had never really been into social networking sites such as digg, and to be honest i didn't know you aren't supposed to post your own work either if it can be relevent in the way this site can be, this isn't like he posted a blog entry, this is a very usable site by designers and developers alike. - stevecole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Error on page" using IE 6.0.2900.2180.
You choose:
Digg for the irony of that error.
Digg down for browser & version (employer-mandated). - zaqintosh, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6Why so harsh? Is it totally wrong for people to promote a site on here?
When is it considered "spam", and when is it considered "news" ?
I don't claim to know the validity of this css globe site, nor do I intend to be a member. But overall I've noticed some people use digg to self promote, sometimes they get praised, and othertimes they get completely written off. - Thorandor, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1cssglobe seems to have copied a lot from the style of the original computerlove website from a few years back, however all that CL had is kinda messed up and badly applied on cssglobe.
For what it is it is too cluttered, and for what it shows its not displaying enough "professional" input into the way the site is designed.
Worth a look, but I will also stick to the CSS Zen Garden. No digg - cooperwd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0It's too bad -- the guy who created the site is actually a pretty talented designer. The apparent comment spam seems a bit icky.
As for Zen Garden -- you're comparing apples to oranges. Zen Garden is just a showcase -- a fabulous one, but still just a showcase. If you want to *learn* about CSS (instead of just admiring other people's magic), you'll probably learn more from this site or alistapart.com. - se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Although I do agree with this being spamtastic, the site does offer some really nice designs.
Just flood the site and don't click on the adwords. ;) - berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -21/+1yea but after all that, i have to check out this website!
at minimum his bot-creating skillz are superb. - tommyill, on 10/12/2007, -56/+2Great CSS community site
- starfighter01, on 10/12/2007, -58/+2I love this site, just joined recently, seems like one of the best community sites for CSS!
- JFK99, on 10/12/2007, -58/+1+1 very good for webdev and webdesigner
