- ultraelite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow if that wans't the most self induglging most useless advice
definatly easier said than done - Maskawanian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you need a guide to be creative then you never will be.
- skytimelapse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I digg it, but not because these are actually tips, just because it's a good cause.
Look, if you want to be creative, smoke some sativa herb and do whatever it is you want to do. That's what I did, and that's how I founded my business (which now provides my income). Your results may vary. - alchemista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The good thing about this is not necessarily that it tells you how to be creative. The good thing is that it dispels a lot of myths that people may have that keep them down (e.g. I'm not born creative, etc). This is more inspirational than a definite how-to guide.
- avatarpalin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what tripe.....
- salmonmoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"If you need a guide to be creative then you never will be."
It's actually more "how to deal with being creative" - iammine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is great. Im not sure about the advice but I do agree that there needs to be more creativity in the world. If this works for you then great.

- salweem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am a artist... you cant tell me how to think!
- streetstealth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Part of understanding the creative urge is understanding that it's primal. Wanting to change the world is not a noble calling, it's a primal calling.
We think we're "providing a superior integrated logistic system" or "helping America to really taste freshness". In fact we're just pissed off and want to get the hell out of the cave and kill the woolly mammoth. "
He's a typical self-obsessed New Yorker, all right, but that doesn't make him wrong! - psytek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+031) Start with a blank page.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hehehe, one of those hard to find gems. Dugg =)
- DeadlySin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great stuff. Dugg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Annoyingly, after I spent a full 25 minutes trying desparately to find some sort interesting tidbit in that mountain of trite crap, I came up with nothing but a stomach ache.
If you really enjoyed that post, move to Manhattan. We have about 3 million Hughs on the island, and every one of them would be more than eager to massage their egos by "teaching" you something. - gamemaster357, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awesome
- xenon221, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is really, really good. Thanks for the submission.
- musonica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm, interesting article, although I prefer a more optimistic and open view to creativity. Creative people should be able help create new and desired opportunities and experiences, ideally with passion, commitment and inspiration... breaking outmoded rules and conventions and playing with new ones.
Pure art and creativity is not focused on commercial gain, it is about the artist creating an "experience" and transmitting it to the viewer... we all can think of great things that started to suck once money became their primary aim. (not to say that pure art is without monetary value ;)
http://musonica.com.au - bmcnitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0held my attention for over three minutes; i must have liked it.
- halikar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"If you need a guide to be creative then you never will be."
Spoken like a true defeatest.
Digg - FredWatanabe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks good enough to me
- r©ain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My first thought was "If you need to be told how to be creative, you are definitely not creative".
Then I actually went to read the article. What useless tripe.
I got better advice tonight from my fortune cookie.
There's a reason why not everyone has creative genius.
I mean, if it was so common, it wouldn't be genius would it?
So yeah.... keep your day job!
*feh* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you need a list of ways to learn how to be creative, you're not creative and never will be. Period.
- syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty good list actually
- DrEbola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Write from the heart? No digg.

- joeybenavides, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very well done. Well-thought article.
I'd digg it twice if I could. - manical, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Basically it says to be an introvert. - gookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0'tis kewl, but when you read the word "BIZ" it sends spasms and ruin the whole thing.
- operator99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Smart!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good digg. all the cynical people out there will get nothing out of it and make lame comments about how if you have to read an article to be creative..blah blah blah. they're missing the point.
- SiouxsieQ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To all the nay-sayers who think this is useless "tripe"...if you don't think you need to read this kind of stuff because you are such an ultra-creative genius already - you probably REALLY need to read this kind of thing. Get off your high horse. We all need a little inspiration once in a while.
Diggggggggg! - tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just have to say: Do I have to prove that I am creative?
- sbraford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a decent read.
I guess the flames are just adhering his advice #1: ignore everybody.
Of course, it does take some creativity to say "this is trite. No Digg" I'm sure. - orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0real sharp. +digg
- AndroidIQ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Such paprika spice. Digg.
http://www.gapingvoid.com/Moveable_Type/archives/zzzmkghilkj12.jpg - jeromehorwitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice spam. I see a lot of business cards, yet I've never seen one of these with cartoons on it. Everyone should all follow the list of 30 things to be more creative(?). Or maybe just start with #1 and you won't read the other 29 anyway.
- miteshsolanki, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0It is a decent article with a different perspective. Any insight is worth the read.
http://www.inventcreativity.com - ElHefe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Didn't this get posted a few months ago? I believe it got torched & rightly so.
No digg. - saurabhsri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Digg++
- Frinkiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the problem with up scaling.... you pick up the pricks along the way
next time read the whole damn thing before you go shooting YOUR self indulgent mouth off.
he advocates hard work, experience, and finding your own niche.
how in the hell is that self indulgent tripe? - jdonner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well written article. Digg
- artgon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wait a minute... if I follow what he says, then aren't I just following the crowd? ;)
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was mesmerized by the whole thing, and even more with the spike upwards, every little bit!!!
These are the things I have wanted to tell my son, but didn't know how. I'm sure I could not do anywhere near as well, as the author did.
The biggie, was that his advice will work for so Many young, or not young, people!! It is clearly meant for damn near all of us, regardless of whether we are actually creative or not... DO we know who we are?, have we made that Red Line?, can we accept the fact that not everyone is gonna like us, no matter what we do, so we shouldn't change just to get that feeling>?, and do we keep our day job???(I didn't, and it was a horrible mistake...
I sent this to my son, and his older step brother. Both of them should be able to learn greatly from it. I hope so. I learned from it, and I'm older than dirt. heeheehee, cackle...
Cyborg
yes, by all means.. - aronoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if you need an article to be creative than you never will be.... jeez.... are you guys actually in the creative field? You think that reading something makes you uncreative? Lame.
Anyway, i found this really interesting.... some of the points I allready knew but it was interesting to see more... - Wedgieman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This person is a self-obsessed prick. "Your either a poet or a corpse" that was about as soul shaking as what my dogs left in the yard today.
- dalv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Love it! It is very fresh and sharp!
- Rain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fantastic pictures :)
