- Brian48216, on 12/16/2007, -4/+109Dugg because digg was ORIGINALLY a tech site with useful articles like this.
Not Ron Paul spam, or tin foil hat articles. - onuo, on 12/16/2007, -0/+42As someone who works photography and television, this is very interesting to me and to other geeks who work in visual workspaces.
Why does a new build of a linux distro reach the front page nearly every day? - as it's interesting to linux geeks !
...and probably why I'll get dugg down! - Kaui, on 12/16/2007, -0/+26Amen bro. I'd much prefer interesting topics like this to hit the front page than such Internet gems as the latest youtube video of a kid getting knocked out in the playground...
- gr4yscale, on 12/16/2007, -3/+25As a photographer, I'm pretty excited to see this article, but I can't understand why so many people dugg it either
- inactive, on 12/16/2007, -1/+22Dugg because people who spend a ***** on a new camera still don't know what this is- or how to use it to make better photographs. It works- I love histograms.
- digitaloxygen, on 12/16/2007, -1/+22At least you see it's merit.
The people above you are clearly new to Digg. If you aren't interested in the article don't dig it. Do you go through every article that it's the main page asking "why did so many people dig it" or "why is this on the main page". If you don't think it's news worthy skip it and move to the next article. We don't need 5+ people posting stupid comments. I guess I should say "welcome to Digg" to myself too because large numbers of stupid comments that get dugg down happens more often than it should. - inactive, on 12/16/2007, -0/+20Hey, look! It's the DESIGN section.
Stop complaining and disable this section in your profile if you don't want to see design related articles! Thank you.
Now, any mirror? - justinm1, on 12/16/2007, -1/+15Thanks for this, very helpful. I've tried googling this before haven't found an article as good as this.
And I'm sick of hearing people bitch about why things make it to the front page. It's a community site, people vote on what they like. Deal with it. - Ilyanep, on 12/16/2007, -0/+12I wish I could frame your comment and hang it up on the front page.
Well...not frame it. iFrames are evil.
But you know what I mean. - nnagflar, on 12/16/2007, -5/+12Next up, z scores!
- Bamborzled, on 12/16/2007, -0/+6This raises the question: When was the day everything changed?

I would say the boxed section. The general public ruins all things it touches. Once digg became too popular, the content had to be dumbed down to accommodate the decrease in average IQ of the site. It becomes especially bad in a user-driven site such as digg because there are no editors who could counteract it, the site is at the mercy of the users. - engmar, on 12/16/2007, -1/+6Dugg For Truth.
- tange1, on 12/16/2007, -0/+4Down, anyone have a mirror?
- grumpyrain, on 12/17/2007, -0/+3It's quite a good article really. Simple enough that most people will get it if they first look up what luminosity is. I find it amazing that people try and judge exposure on a 2" LCD, a screen that does not have the dynamic range to show whether the highlights have been lost into 255,255,255. Despite the limitations of many on camera histograms, I find the histogram tells me more about the exposure of a photo in a 1 second glance than any other feature. Once you understand exactly what a given histogram is telling you, you can use your brain to determine whether the exposure is right.
Dugg if for no other reason than to piss off those who don't seem to understand why articles get to the front page. - tusseyd, on 12/17/2007, -0/+3Nice tech article. This is what Digg should be more about. Thanks.
- brufleth, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2But this article is NOT good. A description like "shoot to the right" would have replaced the whole article. There's no explanation on HOW to do that or how to avoid blowing highlights.
- brufleth, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2This "article" is terrible. Besides saying "expose to the right" it gives little to no information about how to actually use the histogram to adjust your photo taking. The explanation of what a histogram is sucked too.
- microbreak, on 12/17/2007, -0/+2link please?
- DeathJux, on 12/16/2007, -3/+5http://www.duggmirror.com got most of it, but it looks like it didn't grab the diagrams/examples.
- TeacherOfHeroes, on 12/16/2007, -0/+1Well *I* thought it was funny; when I first read the title, I thought it was just about any old histogram.
- antitab, on 12/17/2007, -0/+1Not so sure. I came on board around then, and there was still high quality stuff for a good long while before Digg devolved into 4chan 2.0.
- weizilla, on 12/17/2007, -0/+1are all of those photos of the quilt suppose to look the different???
- Hentez, on 12/16/2007, -1/+2http://tinyurl.com/yw979j Google has it
- tightscrummy, on 12/17/2007, -0/+1Uhm, no it doesn't.

- 80hd, on 12/17/2007, -0/+1You've failed to reject the Null Hypothesis. So.... No
- PereGoriot1, on 12/09/2008, -0/+0It's a real pity that such interesting articles are few and far between these days on Digg. There's way too much pseudo-politics and gossip and other really useless garbage polluting Digg nowadays. Here's my example: Really nice Polish girls: http://www.sexypolishgirls.com
- microbreak, on 12/17/2007, -1/+1This is photography, not statistics.
- mydave, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0hmm very useful thing for me yes! this is somehow guide.

- PresidentGas, on 12/16/2007, -4/+1I want to see a histogram that can teach me how to read histograms
- inactive, on 12/17/2007, -5/+1After I had a histogram, I didn't have to worry about having prostate cancer any more.
- Legolover64, on 12/16/2007, -12/+2Remember: Variation=Sigma(x-mean^2)(probability)
hooray stats! - FadieZ, on 12/16/2007, -20/+1lol mac
- vpshockwave, on 12/16/2007, -36/+5Umm no. Please get this off the front page.
- inactive, on 12/16/2007, -41/+4Any reason for it being dugg?
- jmpeagle, on 12/16/2007, -41/+3seriously? Why is this being dugg?

What is Digg?
