- picoritdidnt, on 10/16/2008, -2/+22A valiant gesture my good sir! I'm with you! I take it a step further - I don't use any fonts that I haven't made myself. That would be totally lame of me since I didn't make them. Same goes for pre-rendered marquee and shape tools, gradient effects, vector art, tutorials, books, store-decorated birthday cakes... I'll have none of that rubbish. Hell, to be honest with you, I don't even use Photoshop anymore. I realized that somebody else's blood, sweat and tears went into programming all the beautiful artistic effects one can apply, and that's technically using somebody else's work as your own too.
What's my secret at being so awesome then? Graph paper, Crayolas, and a scanner. Pixel by pixel bitches. - K4Lic0, on 10/16/2008, -3/+19Badass, bookmarked and dugg.
- skabyss, on 10/15/2008, -7/+21WOW, this really is a great collection of useful brushes, and I will be using them almost immediately.
- winterorange, on 10/16/2008, -0/+12Did you cut down the tree to make that graph paper? Did you design and manufacture that scanner? I doubt it.
The only way to make art that is truly your own is use your own feces as paint on your own body as the canvas. It would be ***** art but at least it would be *YOUR* ***** art. - SteelFrog, on 10/16/2008, -0/+11Just keep your brush repository in another folder than the default Photoshop one.
- zantos420, on 10/16/2008, -0/+9load on demand perhaps?

- TobbisBlog, on 10/15/2008, -4/+9Great Collection!
- lowtolerance, on 10/16/2008, -0/+4A lot of custom of brushes are more like rubber stamps, if that makes sense.

Also, thanks adikt! - GawtMilk, on 10/16/2008, -2/+6Raise of hands, here, who still uses brushes? What do you use them for? I mean; they're not useful when editing photographs, and they look unprofessional in web sites / web templates. What are you all using them for?
- KyleGoetz, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3Yes. http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/topic/tutorial-How-T ...
- playuhh, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3What a resource!
- lowtolerance, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3I use brushes a lot, particularly when I'm not editing photographs or making "professional looking websites". They're a great design tool.
- playuhh, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3epic win i love you.

I smell bots - kinggimped, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3Hey, you're totally right. Personally I don't like using any colours made by other people in my artwork. Man, the amount of time those brave souls spent mixing paints and typing six digit hex colour codes... who am I to rip off their hard work? Nobody, that's who. I only use colours I invented myself. My latest composition includes blellow and gorange, two colours not on the visible light spectrum. Sadly I've had trouble mixing together any other original colours, so I'm yet to finish off the shading on the upper lip. The last 4 years have flown by, though.
Thanks for restoring my faith in humanity by showing me that there are still a few artists out there with honour, integrity, and a little bit of originality. I would have dugg your comment up but I see it as ripping off somebody else's work. - TheVirus, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3I've really never used Photoshop, so excuse my ignorance. What are brushes and what do they do? Is it a literal term, meaning you 'paint' fingerprints and swirls? Or is it some sort of filter that's applied to a layer? These look neat and I have no use for them, just curious.
- kingo123, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3Thanks for this, I never knew there were so many awesome brush sets available!
- orbital318, on 10/16/2008, -0/+3bah server is down!!
