- chetanthaker, on 06/06/2008, -5/+233Wait ! No Gmail Custom Time ??
- Frost9999, on 06/06/2008, -11/+211I wish people would stop writing "after the jump" in the middle of their articles.
- pixelmatrix, on 06/06/2008, -5/+116These features are kind of lame :| Not what I would expect from Google.
- louse101, on 06/06/2008, -1/+86Export emails as Google Docs would be sweet.
- Mootabolife, on 06/06/2008, -5/+83They tried to let you email back into the past during the beginning of April, I wonder why they gave up on that?
- sandiegodude, on 06/06/2008, -3/+72Psh, most of those features are pretty worthless. Funny, I think Old Snakey will get the most use around here.
Why oh why would I want to hide the unread count from my inbox? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Google is moving gmail more and more towards being an Outlook killer, but c'mon, most of this is fluff. - Gabberwok, on 06/06/2008, -5/+6013? I'm not feeling lucky...
- bbatsell, on 06/06/2008, -2/+50Labels are more convenient than folders, because you're not limited to one-folder-per-email. You can certainly choose to do that with labels, but they allow you to be much more flexible with your sorting.
- neodude237, on 06/06/2008, -5/+50"Old Snaky"
- vdgmr1213, on 06/06/2008, -1/+46Now Gmail will tell me to get off and take a break? That is one feature I know I will NOT be enabling. My addiction refuses to be tamed.
- prnorm, on 06/06/2008, -3/+41Gmail Beta beta
- Narcowski, on 06/06/2008, -0/+36Shhhh...
- kmartyr, on 06/06/2008, -1/+34No, but they will print out your emails and deliver them to your doorstep.
- jontyf, on 06/06/2008, -3/+35Why 14 minutes?
- ldkronos, on 06/06/2008, -1/+33So I get a lame game, but no way to hide a label? Nice
- Thousand, on 06/06/2008, -1/+31Whoosh
- SillyDigger, on 06/06/2008, -2/+28I have no use for any of those new features
- iDiggIt42, on 06/06/2008, -1/+27Dear Billy-Bob-Joel III,
Bring it on.
Lots of love,
iDiggit42 - shoook, on 06/06/2008, -0/+25Alpha is the new Beta. Beta is the new Final. And Final release just means you have to wait for the next service pack.
- BLyn, on 06/06/2008, -4/+28fail
- stukdog, on 06/06/2008, -3/+27I've requested Time sensitive filters about ten times. I was hoping to see it here. (So you could set your work email to only show up in the inbox during work hours, etc.)
- Frost9999, on 06/06/2008, -0/+22Folders huh? So when I have an email that I need to tag as three different things I would have to create three folders and copy the mail to each one? Folders are not a great solution to manage data. Tagging and labelling is.
- Daniel0, on 06/06/2008, -0/+21Try to reread bbatsell's comment. You can just assign only one label and it will work EXACTLY like folders.
- homercles337, on 06/06/2008, -1/+22The author of that article needs to learn how to take screen shots. Sheesh...
- Daniel591992, on 06/06/2008, -0/+19It needs some sort of "send in two minutes feature." That way, you can delete the email if you realize you send it to the wrong person.
- xtremesniper, on 06/06/2008, -2/+20Unfortunately that's just the way content management systems are designed. The only way to bypass that would be to have a main body, extended body, and a third part of the message solely for the "after the jump" blurb that would get removed from the full article view.
Not practical. - arobar, on 06/06/2008, -2/+19Or you could have a work e-mail account so you look like a professional.
- arjung, on 06/06/2008, -1/+18of course it's practical. most of these blogs are run by professionals and can afford to add one more field to their db tables and the 3 extra processor cycles to include it in the page. or they could just use javascript to remove the last paragraph of "intro text" when viewing the entire article.
- tankster522, on 06/06/2008, -3/+20Yeah,
- Reply continues after the jump -
me too! - bobrossx, on 06/06/2008, -0/+17I always thought those jumps didn't make sense because of Adblock Plus.
- freehunter, on 06/06/2008, -1/+17And unfortunately, it's the biggest one that shouldn't be on there. You don't need a custom signature, if you do need a signature (corporate footer), you're probably not using gmail. At leatst they don't force a signature on yo like Yahoo or Hotmail.
-FREE SMILIES OVER 20,000 SMILIES GET YOUR SPYWARE HERE! - Morghin, on 06/06/2008, -2/+17The quick links will definately make my life a whole lot easier. The extra stars will definately come in handy for sorting through various important mails I need to respond to later on :)
- Murdats, on 06/06/2008, -0/+14ooh, i need a new razor.
hope to see you soon
Murdats - Murdats, on 06/06/2008, -0/+14I have never gotten this? why do you want folders?
and if you want folders, why not just use only 1 label instead of multiple labels on a message
then its just like putting it in that 'folder'. - Zippo, on 06/06/2008, -1/+13Glad to see Google still expanding upon Gmail. I probably won't use any of these features, but they'll definitely be welcomed by some.
- Murdats, on 06/06/2008, -4/+15they dont, they write it at the bottom of the blurb, of course the blurb is taken straight from the article so when you read the full thing it appears to be right in the middle.
read the story list and its saying it will continue when you open the full story - haroonie, on 06/06/2008, -1/+12can you say, eventually, user apps for gmail?
dangerous. - poutch, on 06/06/2008, -1/+12that's like browsing a bad section of the firefox extensions. these are amateur, not what i'm expecting from google
- BobMysterioso, on 06/06/2008, -0/+10The debate of Labels vs Folders is as old as gmail itself. I find that I spend much less time wondering where mail is in GMail than I do at my work using Outlook. Thats not to say its better, but I think it can be. When I have a million folders sorting all my mail in Outlook most of the time, they aren't accurate. But again, maybe thats just me.
- lynx44, on 06/06/2008, -0/+10I actually like that idea. You can hit send and if you realize you screwed up you can fix it, otherwise if you forget about it, it'll still be sent like normal.
- nbulp, on 06/06/2008, -1/+10If it's 15 minutes, as soon as one second passes there remain 14 minutes (and 59 seconds)... That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
- arjung, on 06/06/2008, -2/+11http://images.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/images/1/15/C ...
- SPECOPS, on 06/06/2008, -0/+9not having folders (and having labels instead) is one of the basic features of gmail that makes it so successful. Search+Labels=sorting no longer needed.
- stopsucking, on 06/06/2008, -0/+9Dear lord so do I...so do I. Links and photos and more commentary from me after the jump.
- Clark3934, on 06/06/2008, -1/+10Now I don't have to copy and paste my signature from the bottom of the quoted text to the top!
Nothing looks stranger than having a series of conversations that end in a signature being repeated and nested 10 times. - luchid, on 06/06/2008, -1/+10Uhh, ever heard of filters? Create one that adds a tag based on sender/subject (whatever criteria your pron mail fits) and set it to Archive so that it skips the Inbox. No need for folders.
- mintblogger, on 06/06/2008, -1/+9The custom signature option will be the most popular feature of this upgrade.
- bananaspiders, on 06/06/2008, -0/+8And we still can't have image embedding!? Damn this!
- aliguana, on 06/06/2008, -0/+8there is a thing on the bottom of the beta page "if you want to write stuff for Gmail contact the Google Team". So yeah, not far off
