- neveray, on 10/12/2007, -18/+8Cool logo! I love the style. Gonna make myself one...
- xsuite, on 10/12/2007, -20/+3Any we need to know this why?
- misterjangles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This style is a little tired out but the tutorial has a few nice keyboard shortcuts that I didn't know. I didn't know that ctrl+shift+D will re-select whatever shape & location you had last selected. there's always some little trick to get out of these things - even if the main lesson isn't gonna be useful to me.
- Tricks, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Brilliant, easy to follow tutorial on how to make one of those funky glossy effects logos!! im so gonna make one right now :)
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9http://duggmirror.com has most of it. Missing some of the images though.
- Nunya, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Dead already
- ImYourRealDad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Aye, quite disappointing.
- greymarketbrain, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Nunya, it was dead the moment she started the tutorial
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Why is this whole tutorial one big image?
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2because the author really love photoshop.
- greymarketbrain, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3@ Noah,
cuz she sucks? - noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Eh. I wouldn't say she sucks, it is a decent tutorial, not nessecary or real usefull but well executed. I wonder if she just doesn't know any html or something.
- neveray, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0What makes you think it's a she? :p
- Tricks, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0She is actually a He ;)
- reggaematic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Probably more for copyright reasons than anything else. But yes..a bit annoying.
- adc86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Because where the author should have used Illustrator (freehand, whatever, get over it) they used Photoshop. And where the author should have used XHTML/CSS, they used Photoshop. And where she should have used imagination, style, and innovation, they used.. Photoshop.
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64Alright, we'll see if I end up regretting this, but here's the tutorial
http://www.scatropolis.com/jr_tuto_001.jpg- rrasco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7thanks for the link Scat!
- misterjangles, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2thanks scatropolis. hey, business opportunity - mirror posts w/ a paypal button on there.
- greedonever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1SWEET "MIRROR!" THanks!
- morgdx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good luck with the new job and building your recording studio.
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@morgdx
Thanks, actually I JUST bought the equipment two days ago so I'm pretty excited right now. I'll hopefully be getting stuff out there as soon as I get to know Cubase. - Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I removed it because the original works again.
- greymarketbrain, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3To use the word "art" anywhere in relationship to this type of tripe (unless you say: "this ***** is not art") is a crime. This is only a must if you wish to work for Playskool or do graphics for Mr. Roger's web 2.0!
what a waste of digg space.- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Despite your opinion, and I agree with you slightly, this is the trend. This, reflections and 'Web 2.0' are what customers seem to want and will want until someone innovates and comes up with something else.
- ike368, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's a representation of what's happening in marketing right now?
some could argue that it's art
(i guess..) - kmoth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0so what if someone called something "art" when it doesn't fit YOUR definition of art. big F'n deal.
you evidently missed the point, its a TUTORIAL!
if you want to get into semantics, its technically not a "crime" to call this art. at least not in any countries i'm aware of.
"what a waste of digg space."
so is your comment. hypocrite.
and thanks for the link ShadownessGuy, there are in fact some of us that appreciate it.
k. - darkstorm777, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And YOU sir are a waste of Tube Bandwidth!
- bobbygeorgina, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sad, less than 10 diggs and the site is already down.
- rrasco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3scat posted it as an image.
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The original was an image... that's why it went down so easy.
- ShadownessGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+110 diggs? gotta be kidding... Fact is it got 100 diggs in less than 10 mins. Now, that's thousands of queries each minute right now. Wait, it'll settle soon...
Image doesn't affect that much.

poor language use, pittiful instructions, cheap server = LAME- misterjangles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5yea, the critical step is not explained very well. basically it's just creating a sliver of the original shape and then changing the opacity on it to make it look like a highlight.
- mrgono3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How about explaining it for us?
- electricmba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The author incorrectly instructs you to "put your layer in overlay 50%". What he means is to set the New White Layer's Opacity to 50%, giving the highlight a more faded, blended appearance.
- Renyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hey Sithlrd
I'm sooo sorry if i can't speak english like you, god i'm soooo sorry *cough cough*
What about you learn my language and i tell you how to open your eyes atleast 5 min to be able to think by yourself ?
- Ikthog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorta neat, but aside from the fact that this effect is completely played out, the author doesn't really explain it... s/he more or less says, "Keep doing this until it looks good." Similarly, to build a car, put together metal parts in the shape of a car in such a way that it runs like a car. It looks nice, though, if you're into that sort of thing.
- 5hop4orce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The sad thing is, MOST tutorials are written this way (i.e. half-written or poorly-written).
- atarix64, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1http://www.gnull.com/sites/1168578776_52879/
- shae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2anyone know what font was used in the white text on the finished image?
- Renyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not a font, it's actually a logo i made long ago in AI. Started with the basic font of Arial, no more.
- 5hop4orce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Use your imagination and/or light/shadow skills."
Wow. Great tutorial. "Figure it out yourself." I mean, it's so obvious but I could never have done that without this tutorial!- darkstorm777, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1ZOMG NO ONE HELD MY HAND TO PREFORM TASKS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN EXPLAINED!!!
The.......sky.....is.....falling....... - 5hop4orce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Don't ever attempt to write a tutorial, because whatever tutorial you produce will suck.
- Renyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ohh another one who need help thinking.
I really should make a tuto about that.
What you want ?! Want me to do it for you ?
You're the kind of guy who's looking on the net to get full .psd and using them for your own business.
Or recreating something the exact same way.. soo you can go sleep and say "Wow. i'm freaking good!"
Go out of your mom basement and go take a walk ~ peace
- darkstorm777, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1ZOMG NO ONE HELD MY HAND TO PREFORM TASKS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN EXPLAINED!!!
- eliburford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks quite nice.
- ricefarmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the site looks like digg!
- skymook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I only worked out how to recreate the art after I read the comments on this page. I can't digg this story if it isn't easy to work out. I mean, a tutorial is for people who don't know how to do it. Nice images, but poor tutorial implementation.
- Renyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I didnt wanted to make the tutorial with excessive details. Why ?! Because first it's not something hard.. and Second, i don't want people to be able to "recreate" what i done in this tuto exactly the same. I gives you the tips, the way i make it, no more.
And by the way... i love replying on comments made on my work. Dont be shy.. be rude. Hate it it's all good, ill get back on it ~ peace ;) - estim8d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice.
