- Silkjaer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I will take a look at the code formatting ASAP
- podgey22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4But its such an abysmally layed out post... You should have taken the time to move most of the source out into external files and only shown the relevant parts... or at least give the code a background so people can tell your comments apart from the code...
The content (and contents table) is pretty good but you've let yourself down a bit on formatting... btw, you're on the frontpage - TugsMcgroin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This stuff is hard for people who don't know what they are doing. Its good to have explicit 'how to's' like this.
- matt3h, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Really good article for those wanting to customise there Worpress that little bit more. Its clear that alot of effort went into writing this, so it gets a digg from me!
- graywave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Exactly, Tugs. This is what's needed, plus links for in-depth content/howtos/etc. I can't count the times I've been frustrated by a problem in which I needed a simple answer, or on the other side, wanted to know *why* and *how* a thing works and *when* to use it. Many times the resources I've found are either too technical, expecting you to already understand the topic or code, or too simplistic, only showing you what to do, not why or explaining what it does.
This article leans a little to the simplistic side for me, but it's well written, and the author making the theme (*including* the other pages he talks about) available as a download for you pick apart is a huge plus. - toekneebullard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is so great! I've been coding websites since stealing code from other geocitites sites was practially acceptable...and I'm just now forcing myself to leanr CSS...trying to code a wordpress theme with my limited CSS knoweldge has ben terrible (mostly altering someone elses template) so this is truly helpful.
Thanks for your time and effort! - raykart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow perfect timing! I was preparing to start looking into it since I'm working on a design for my personal site.
- Silkjaer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks, I really put a lot of work into it :)

- Silkjaer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jokerr, it might seem easy for some people to do a theme - i've done this for those people who dont find it quite easy, or are new at the WordPress theming system :)
- podmedic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use wordpress for my blog (and my main site design). I found it easy to install, set-up, and use. This guide will only make it a more useful tool for me.
- MrSpontaneous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great guide. I wish that there were more articles like this on digg.

Thanks for this post buddy... :) - maclady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks for putting in the time to write such an in-depth guide. When I started using WP, I took one of the themes and just ended up modifying so much of the design it has no resemblence to the actual theme I started with. It wasn't too difficult once I got into it, but in retrospect I probably would have been better off starting from scratch. I fully intend on designing some new ones, and will definitely consult your guide as a resource. Nice job!
