2WD: 18/22
4WD manual: 16/19
4WD automatic: 17/21 - ChromaVita, on 10/16/2007, -1/+18It looks alot like... the 2007 FJ Cruiser.
Not my cup of tea, but at least it's not the same identical piece of crap. - bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Buried for the submitters massive display of douche baggery in his comment.
***** tool. - ddongbap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Yea dude, you should really know your information before you spout out about 12mpg.
- DiggCommando, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9The current FJ cruiser is actually one of the most Off-Road capable SUVs out there right now, despite it's goofy appearance and awful driver visibility.
- blurplevtx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I love mine, and it goes offroad just fine. The off-road packages are just "upgraded" shocks and tires that they can charge an arm and a leg for since it's a factory installed package, they make lots of money on them just like computer manufacturers do with extra memory and HDs.
- colonelpanic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4SUV's are just convenient. Please explain to me how you can transport several sheets of plywood, drywall, or lumber-or even go on a family vacation in a prius, I would love to hear your answer. In some cases, size can be ridiculous but there is nothing wrong with mid-size suv's.
- webmarc, on 10/16/2007, -7/+11It looks like an H3 that crawled inside a Mini. Eeewwww.
- rYno, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4this truck has grown on me actually since they've first appeared.
- lexington86, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4No woman, no cry?
- sodakproud, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Things to make the FJ an actual buy.
1. Stop overcharging msrp!!! When they first came out I priced out one @ 24 k with 4x4 and the dealerships charge 30k for it. Piss off.
2. Diesel in it with some actual TORQUE!!!
3. Have people actually drive the damn thing off road.
Said my peace. - tendonut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3There are very few SUVs that can actually go offroad. My cousin tried to take his '06 Explorer offroad and snapped an axle on a small dirt mound. SUVs are only good for soccer moms to take their snot nose kids to school while listening to then news and complain about the war because it's not lowering the gas prices.
- lexington86, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Apparently you have not lived in America for very long (if at all)............
- fatfreddyscat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3All you haters have no idea what you are talking about and probably drive a dodge. Toyota (honda too) make the best vehicles in the world. And before you spout off on the FJ's off-roading capability do a search for "toyota fj cruiser" on youtube and you'll see the most capable 4x4 on (and off) the road today.
- spankaccount, on 11/26/2007, -0/+2Probably the best looking SUV out there.
- byrne000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2A blanket comment. To all those who just freely throw out criticisms about people not needing 4WD or "SUVs-get out of the city once in a while. There is a whole other country out there besides your little slice of overcrowded, crime ridden hell and most of it is country and people rely on trucks and SUVs not only as transportation but as tools. To those who say the FJ isn't a capable 4WD vehicle-it would difficult to determine such when you've never witnessed it maneuver through anything but a rough patch on the freeway. Finally, to those who think the FJ is hideous, well that's just a matter of opinion and I have nothing to say to that except 4WDs aren't built to win beauty pageants and in 20 years you'll still be seeing plenty of these FJs being used as ranch vehicles and driving across the countryside.
- kennma1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3cool stuff
- jerseydevil201, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2I have an 08 in Sandstorm with the off-road package + roofrack + brushbar. List was around 30.5 and I paid 27.5 + tax. I love it and get around 19mpg combined which is just as good as many cars. I had a 4-runner and the FJ is superior off-road because of approach/departure angles and power/weight ratio. I am now adding a light bar to the roofrack with 2 sets of off-road lights and a set of driving lights on the brushbar.
- joemo75, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2If you read any of the auto mags, this thing has better on and off road stats than any Jeep, it has more power than any Jeep/H3, and it's classified as a LEM in the US. Um, oh ya, it a Toyota, too.
- kenvsryu, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7No diesel, no care.
- lexington86, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2According to whom? I believe Toyota is having one of the best year when it comes to auto-makers...
"[Toyota's] sales in the U.S. gained 9 percent and Europe surged 14 percent during the same period. As a result, Toyota's first-half vehicle sales rose 8.1 percent to a record 4.713 million vehicles, while General Motors Corp.'s sales gained 1.7 percent to 4.67 million.
Rising sales abroad and a weaker yen helped the carmaker's operating profit gain 28 percent to 656 billion yen in the quarter, according to the survey of analysts. Sales probably rose 11 percent to 6.23 trillion yen, they said."
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a_Ozwwd2xf_U&refer=home - djphatjive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think this car is bad ass looking!
- QuantumLo0p, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I love Duplo-Cruisers.
- spankaccount, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2It has more power than an H3 and it's classified as a "Low Emissions Vehicle" in the US. The FJ is quite an amazing machine if you actually look at the stats.
- Cockdiesel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I have seen many in person and it looks awesome. I may be wrong but I think it has more power than the h3 and cheaper. Plus it has washable interior.
I wouldn't be surprised if the people calling it ugly don't have many in their area. An Element looks retarded when I see them in Miami. But in Portland it looks awesome. The environment supports it.
Bury for being a useless article. It's the same damn car. - bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Go die somewhere, you are an uninformed piece of *****.
- d00d, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Awww, cmon. It's cute, almost as if he's never heard of the commercialized mostrosity called a Hummer.
- bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Get off your high horse you stupid *****. People use these to their fullest. Just because you think everyone should be driving some pseudo environmentally friendly hybrid piece of crap doesn't mean you can judge people for needing to use a larger vehichle that is very off-road capable.
I'm so sick and tired of your type of people. - econofast, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have an SUV because cars should be used for moving things. I take the subway, bus, bike, etc, almost everywhere. I've had my SUV (which gets 22 mpg) for 7 years and still haven't hit 50k miles. I use it for loading up musical gear, construction materials, or going places that aren't public transportation-accessible. Of course, living in the city makes that a lot easier, but perhaps the solution isn't misplacing some weird psychological analysis on people based on what kind of car they drive. That said - chances are, if you're driving a Hummer, you're probably a douchebag.
- spankaccount, on 12/13/2007, -0/+1Doo a YouTube search for FJ and you will see A LOT of off road. Including the Rubicon, were the FJ was trail tested. It seems to beet out Jeeps easily both on and off road.
- bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1if you were born before 1997 you might know that the FJ series has been their naming convention for LandCruisers since the 60s.
Dick - djSyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1There are plenty of Prius drivers that get 50 mpg and above with modest acceleration. You're not supposed to drive it like a Corvette.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Why would any normal family need to transport this themselves? Have the store deliver it or hire a vehicle for the tiny number of times during your vehicles life that you might want to do this.
You'll save lots and lots of money on petrol. - lexington86, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1While I almost always agree with you, it's important to not forget that there are some people who actually take advantage of the "utility" of these large vehicles as part of their job or hobby (e.g. hauling other large objects).
- mrsteve007, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2My '05 Toyota Tacoma has the same V6 engine & drivetrain as the FJ. My window sticker said 17/21 mpg, but I get consistently 19/23. Not bad for something that can carry 5 people, put a motorcycle in the bed, and tow 6500 lbs.
On the otherhand, my '99 3.0L ford ranger 4x4 can carry 3 people, has half the horsepower, and gets 15mpg - that is when it isn't breaking down. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Looks exactly like it. Buried as lame.
- rheaume, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I kinda liked the way they looked except for the white roof, im sure that would get dirty 5min after i washed it.. Much happier with my Xterra which looks almost like this http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/802000-802999/802203_47_full.jpg
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yes it gets to that, in perfect conditions
other wise it would say 'prius averages ___ ___ ___' - mraustin1337, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Oh jeez Kev. You are right. 18 / 16 / 17 is MUCH BETTER.
Completely unacceptable for a vehicle in 2007. And I see so many on the road. - Reviler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's called a Porsche Cayenne
- Cockdiesel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I agree. Many americans really need big vehicles to get around our awesome countries terrain.
- enricosonic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0As an owner of several black vehicles (it just ended up that way) - I should remind you that dark colors show dirt far more than light colors. That white roof isn't going to look dirty unless it's muddy. Nothing looks cleaner longer than silver or white.
- enricosonic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Your comment is true in most cases but this is one SUV that is VERY capable off-road.
- byrne000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Well, because we don't all live in urban areas do we moron. Some of us actually live outside the confines of the stinking cesspool prison cities that you apparently thrive in with bitter sarcastic ignorant bliss.
- juz8up, on 02/13/2008, -0/+0After driving several of my friends off-road vehicles including the new jeep commander, toyota tacoma, 4runner, nissan xterra, and the jeep wrangler...there is no doubt the FJ cruiser is a winner for me. All these trucks are capable but there are some things my FJ sets itself apart from my friends own...easy to clean plastic/rubber interior after getting dirty, kick ass stereo system with a boom box in the back and the entire head liner is a flat panel speaker, 4x4 with lots of aftermarket options, waterproof seats, youthful exterior and entior design, and the toyota reliability...like the tacoma and 4runner where its modified base and power terrain came from. It definitely have lots of power with lots of space for all your gadgets for camping or off-roading. The only thing I want to improve is its blind spots but the sonar back up system does help a lot...hope a camera system would be available for future owners to enjoy. I am sure toyota will come up with better MPG one of these days but right now it is the best in the market. Happy hunting folks!
- enricosonic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It has four doors, genius. Two are suicide doors which open after opening the front doors.
- byrne000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Excuse me. I didn't buy an FJ to feel good about myself. I purchased an FJ to provide me with a capable vehicle that has plenty of cargo room for musical gear, tools, camping gear, mountain bikes, etc. A roof rack for kayaks, luggage, etc . Sure, I think it's a neat looking vehicle and I've always had an affinity for 4WDs and because they are versatile and capable vehicles. How absurd you are neiltc13. You should be ashamed that you you would make such a judgment about someone because of the type of vehicle they purchase. Sure there are suburban yuppie types who have no business in an FJ; however, there are plenty of us who actually understand what the utility in sport utility means. Some people really need to get out of the city once in a while and realize that the majority of the country is the COUNTRY! That is rural geography full of people who use their vehicles as not only methods of transportation but as tools. Grow up and wake up neiltc13!
- enricosonic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You're criticizing the wrong SUV in this case. It's not that big and it's arguably the best stock off-roader available this side of a Jeep Rubicon - which you've never heard of.
And being a Toyota it won't be falling apart anytime soon. I'll drive around your car in my Mini Cooper S after off-roading in th FJ. - isntreal, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2hideous
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1get rid of the white top, and it would be perfect!
