- spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19it brings a whole new meaning to "dot matrix"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Inventor: "Check out what I built."
Some Guy: "Neat, it drew a pink bunny."
Inventor: "Yeah."
Some Guy: "So..."
Inventor: "..."
Some Guy: "Can it do pr0n?"
Inventor: "I was wondering when you where going to ask that." - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Because it's innovative and fun, you clone.
- MadOtaku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I dugg it for the most interesting/amazing use of flash: a static page!
- Freshjive787, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11its only a matter of time before this technology is used for evil.
and by evil i mean painting dicks on the side of buildings. - m0laria, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Paint ***** on walls.
- t4k3n, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I think you've got it set to whore.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9it's ok, people don't want to know the truth.
- umfskibum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Nice, I was just about to post that reference.
- Thunderrock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That rabit's ear does look a bit erec---- strange....
- exobyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Initially, I envisioned many more colors, making a large dabbed mural. Cool proof of concept, but I'm waiting for the world's largest inkjet. I wonder how much HP would charger for THAT ink?
- Flanker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7uhh...why is this apparently static page a shockwave file?
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Kinda reminds me of the spray feature (T) in Steam :)
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yet another mystey of the world...
- aclements, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6And no one has picked up that it is the logo for Volkswagen's Rabbit...
- wvannus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wonder how well it works at an angle that is not normal to the wall, like in the example.
I'd like to see one developed that builds on this idea. The hardware looks like it's precise enough on the shooting end. To make some cool perspective-based art, it would have to calculate for the drop that comes with distance for different points and account for skew. It could use a laser distance measurement system. That'd be a fun project for those with the time and $$$. - light50, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It looks like an art project.
- vuke69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'll digg just for the VW Rabbit... However, a couple of details would have been nice.
- SpaceCow!, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If you look really closely at the picture of the gun there appears to be nothing that pulls the trigger. Something just dosent add up about this.
- Ademan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Paintball guns are already used for this. However the concept of AUTOMATING such a task.
My god...
*runs for cover* - jsun, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9Um , that website was horrible zero info, other than it can draw a bunny. No Digg.
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't know, but if you zoom in you can see the pictures at their normal, slightly higher, resolution.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6DUde,
am i the only one here whos thinking TFC (Team Fortress) when i see this?
Engineers FTW!!!! - orangetiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know, with modern embroidery digitizing, you can stitch four color process with CMYK thread. I wonder if we couuld do the same with 4 of these bad boys, and diff. colored paintballs? I got to see how the programming for the "printer" works
- GameGod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is that a Revy hopper? Definitely looks like a Spyder from the trigger frame...
- GameGod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Paintball "bullets" is a pretty ignorant term - They're called "paintballs", and they don't kill people.
- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"It looks like it uses paintball bullets." - What gave that away, the paintball gun it uses as shown on the front page?
Can someone ID that gun? I'm guessing Spider of some sort, but I'm probably wrong. - Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That picture looks like something from 99rooms ( http://99rooms.com )
Really, it does!
Anyway, I want one. - thegsa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i didn't even notice until you pointed that out.
- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Remember, "bullets don't kill people!"
- onestab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't see anyone else pondering what an impact this will have on graffiti. Granted, the technology is in its infancy, but it has the potential. Think drive-by tags.
- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's what I thought.
- ShortyR19, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It drives me crazy when someone calls paintballs "bullets". They aren't bullets. And isn't it redundant as well to say "paintball bullets"?
Hey, want to play baseball? Be sure to bring your club to hit the baseball sphere with. I think I have a couple extra mittens if anyone needs one.
I think it's bred into paintballers to look out for the image of the sport. - vectorprime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Judging from the image there are also apparently no electronic controls in the base. I'd say this is just a precision mount for a paintball gun plus an hour or two of an artist's time.
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And by mystey, I mean mystery..
- timetoboogie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I happen to play paintball. from 8 meters a paintball gun is very accurate. They operate at 300fps. It also looks like it's an electronic trigger which uses a microswitch to activate a linear solinoid to fire the hammer. I say this because there IS no trigger. The switch in the handle is probably hard wired directly.
It is possible, I just hope I never run into a computer controlled gun that shoots REAL bullets! - deserted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That paintball marker definitely doesn't look accurate enough to make that image.
I'm calling shennanigans since there is no way to pull the trigger with the machine. - wvannus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0VW Rabbit Logo (New Version):
http://www.cartype.com/images/page/vw_rabbit25_emblem.jpg - timetoboogie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's a viewloader blowback with a viewloader e-trigger and revy hopper
- streetdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0for so many years I've wanted this so I could leave abusive messages on the back window of cars that cut me off in traffic....
- raymond8505, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This was featured in an issue of Wired this or late last year
- ortel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1in the two pictures it looks like there are different guns... the one on the left is silver, the one on the right is black.. also it looks like different methods of attaching CO2 to the gun..
There definately is something weird about these pictures and there is a reason why it's flash and does not allow closer analysis of the image.
Plus.. i could draw that photo with my cheapo wally world paint ball marker. make it a photo like a textured thunerstorm over a 20mx20m range.. and then you'd be able to call it a dot matrix. - thejoka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's the first thing I thought of!
Then I though how I've always wanted a big ass, pink rabbit on my wall. - dogfukka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey, rig it with real bullets and make it do cardboard cut-outs! "Keep perfectly still, Sanchez..."
- IrishLadd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4Wow, I almost though this would be cool. I could do that with my paintball gun from 40ft. away.
- timetoboogie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0paintball guns use an electronic trigger.
- Pharaoh777, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4I don't even think it draws the bunny... I think it's just someone using a mounted paintball gun to make pictures. So lame.
- csprech, on 10/12/2007, -27/+5and whats the purpose of this??

What is Digg?
