- anaesthetica, on 10/11/2007, -22/+208Please hire me. I am proficient in all modern HTML technologies, such as use of tables for layouts, large images with image maps for navigation, blink and marquee tags for that extra eye-catching oomph, and let's not forget using images whenever possible in places where an ordinary web designer might simply use text or CSS.
Here is a sample from my portfolio:

I think you will find that its visual impact far outpaces the current design, and will bring your site into the 1990s! - Oatmeal, on 10/11/2007, -2/+82I feel sorry for whoever has to filter through jobs@digg.com's inbox over the next few days.
- Oatmeal, on 10/11/2007, -3/+65@roastedbagel
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you're the guy who doesn't get a joke, force you to explain it in excruciating detail, and then effectively makes it very un-funny. Nice work! - anaesthetica, on 10/11/2007, -4/+59@roastedbagel
Nah, I actually did research and googled "worst webpages ever" and selected the link from amongst the results I found. I guess it worked a little too well, as I'm being dugg down now. - guywhodoesstuff, on 10/11/2007, -4/+47*Breathes heavily*
Will.... will I get to meet... Kevin? KEVIN?!?! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+32@roastedbagel
You are nothing short of completely retarded. - fkr3, on 10/11/2007, -20/+47What's the point of posting this on digg? The only people qualified to do this job using digg .. have jobs.
- jayadelson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21Wait, what if we're already doing that, then what?
- kenvsryu, on 10/11/2007, -4/+24Why not hire the api contest winner?
- bdmbdm, on 10/11/2007, -2/+21Of course not!
The entire site was designed using Macromedia's Dreamweaver. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Prepare for every 14-year-old CSS expert to tell you about all the Counter Strike clan sites he has designed.
- ferric84, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17I lol'd pretty hard there anaesthetica - but do you have experience with framesets??
- KSUdesigner, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Why not just submit the link to the digg page that lists the available jobs. You know, the one that's on the bottom of every single page on digg.

How long before the other 4 positions are posted to another site, submitted and then front-paged? - dotdan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Because they might not be qualified?
- Flashman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12HaY guyz i luv your show, have a look at my MySpace, i designed it myself!

- dungbeetle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yikes. Sorry. I meant to add a sarcasm tag to that. Consider that a lesson learned.
- koko775, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Fluency in HTML does not a designer make. It takes more than programming skill to do good design.
- jackyyll, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I wonder if they need an office bitch. If so, i'd glady submit my resume!
- KSUdesigner, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Screw coffee and tea, I'll get you all the beer you want.
- Recluse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@lightbender (#6668865)
I thought it was the guy who did Mozilla's website. - thekms, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4My web design skills may not be up-to-par with your expectations, but I have another proposition for you: Hire me as the office slave; I'll shine every single one of your red Swingline staplers to a gloss that will surpass Web 2.0 standards!
Just kidding around, good luck to all you hopefuls =] - phatvolvo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Thanks you for the interest you have shown in working for Digg and for providing us the opportunity to learn about your background and career interests.
We interview many good applicants and the selection decisions are seldom easy. After careful review of your background and experience, we regret that we are unable to further consider you for the position at this time. We're keeping your resume in our database for a full six months - and for two great reasons. It improves your chances of finding the job that's right for you. And it improves our chances of finding the right employee for the job.
Again, thank you for considering Digg. We wish you every success in your job search.
(from last time.) - hooksie, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6And here I was thinking it was Frontpage! Silly me.
- ZaNkY, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I believe they are planning on hiring the API winner as well (though I might be wrong, need to double check), but API != web design.
Just because you're a genius at using APIs via Flash or Javascript, doesn't necessarily mean you've got what it takes to be a design guru. - TiMMY8765, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3last time I checked digg wouldn't allow links to digg.com, but that might have changed
- meamog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Well, seeing as how it says the job would be the SECOND designer at digg, I'm guessing this is a call for Burka's assistant-to-be. They must have him overworked.

Web Designer
@ Digg Inc - San Francisco, CA
Posted 10 May 2007
Digg is looking for a multi-skilled designer to join our crew in San Francisco. We're hoping to find someone who can work with our Lead Designer on all of our design projects, big and small.
Obviously, you'll be working a lot on our main site, but we'll also be looking for design work on periodic print projects, side sites, partner programs, and all the other little bits of work that crop up.
Because we've got a tiny (yeah, you'll be number two) design group here, you'll be working on everything from the planning stages, to initial concepts, to css/xhtml implementation, to working with the developers to integrate your work. You'll be brainstorming ideas and helping shape the ideas others introduce. You've got to really get off on creating intuitive interfaces that solve complex issues. You'll need to be able to see the whole user experience when designing the UI. You'll also need to be able to follow a defined visual style while helping us shape that style over the long term.
We are looking for:
* A strong portfolio of work that we can see would be an enormous asset for applicants. An accompanying description of your portfolio, describing its strengths and even its weaknesses, would be even better.
* Advanced css and xhtml skills are required.
* Experience with subversion, php, and javascript would be great.
To apply:
Please send your resume and portfolio (or a link to your online portfolio) to jobs@digg.com - seaner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What happened to Daniel Burka?
- blindog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I doubt Kevin would fall for that. ( it's still funny )
Anyone that is hired will be much more than "just" a web designer given the DIGG community watching every update. - jdpalite, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I thought Digg was designed in Adobe® Photoshop®
- echo2501, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That job still hasn't been filled yet? I submitted my resume for it (as many others have) back in March. Long shot since I'm Eastward, but figured what the hell.
- Syntaxis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Webdeveloper for hire. If Digg wants me to apply, please write me a lengthy letter explaining why, and how you are going to reward me for my time and effort. I expect to be notified of being first choice by the end of the day. If not, other companies will be allowed to offer me a top position.
Regards,
The best webdeveloper ever. - malkir, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Maybe they can get someone on board that understands page load times and how to improve them. 14 javascript files per page is getting a bit out of hand.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1Hire me.
I remixed long-tail feeds that captured rich-client network effects that enabled post embedded networking to create standards-compliant ad delivery and incentivize peer-to-peer tagclouds, all the while integratating viral life-hacks.
(Thanks to http://emptybottle.org/*****/) - pridebowl, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2This position was posted well over a month or two ago. Scroll to the bottom and check out the "Jobs at Digg" link.
