- Teague, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Yeah. This was in Kevin's Digg 3.0 party address. Looks cool.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"Digg on crack" looks scary and confusing. I fear that when I use it, I'll accidentally push a wrong button and start an inter-galactic war or something.
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wow, relden. So you're obviously an *****.
Teaque just told us the source of the video from the site. Where does the brown-nosing come from? Because he mentioned Kevin's name? That only helps to clarify which part of the Digg v3 video shows the visualizations...
Come back and explain this one relden. I'm curious as to what you were thinking, 'cause what you said is kinda ***** up. - phlux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think this is neat sure, but what real use do these visulizations have?
Specifically relating to digg that is. I could see the visulizations of massive amounts of truely important data (weather / asteroids/ terrorists/ etc/) as being really useful - i cant see how this is going to really impact my day-to-day browsing.
Maybe I am just short sighterd (no pun intended) I Love these visuals - but i dont get the utility... - CannibalTom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Watch diggnation's latest episode, #51.
- Unimaxium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Saw this on diggnation. I can't wait for it. It looks pretty awesome.
- rhsjr7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Now if we could just get the thumbs up & thumbs down icons a wee bigger and farther apart (or a 10-15 second 'comment digg' window), I think this would make things a little more comfy.
I've tried many of the others, I feel most comfortable here.
Ps.. comments are now only able to be edited for 1 min, what happ to 3? (and the clock should stop when editing)
I've said my PiecePeace

rhsjr7 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Is it just me or digg they narrow these comment bars with Digg 3.0? I feel all cramped and junk
- robotsongs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4When DOC comes out will I have to load a greasemonkey script to keep from getting a headache looking at it?
- BostonVaulter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6looks nice, i can't wait until i get to actually try it.
- LinuxPoser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4i remember seeing this on the digg 3.0 party address and i had started looking for it as soon as digg has started up, was dissapointed when i couldnt find it but im glad its going to be implemented soon
- swhite1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Reldren, enough with the walrus comments. I'm sure your mom doesn't appreciate you talking about her on digg all the time.
I know, it was a lame joke. He had it coming. - agarrahan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What is this being developed in, Flash or Java?
- kimzor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like the look of these new features but i fail to see the point of them for end-users.
- yllabianbitpipe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm eagerly awaiting this stuff. For those that wonder "what's the point?" think about it this way: What's the point of the Diggnation video podcast? It's to see Alex and Kevin and how they are just two nerds like you, and so you should visit Digg. It's not really about the information, especially since in reality the information they provide could be much more easily dissementaed through the website. It's advertising and entertainment.
Likewise with these visualizations. When this stuff goes live, it's going to be one of those things people load onthe computer, say "This looks cool!" and send the link to their friends. Or it's running on your computer at work, someone walks by and says, "What the hell is that?" and you tell them about Digg. So it's more than just the functionality of the data, it's basically Digg advertising showing how popular the site is.
Great idea. I can hardly wait. - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What did I just watch? A better explanation would be nice please.
- dankoleary, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Do you mean, so version 2.0?
- hsfrey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I don't get it! It looks like omphaloscopy to me. I come to Digg for the content, not to stare at a graph of traffic to the site. That's about as exciting as watching your washing machine run.
Harvey - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Can we fix the rampant bugs (60 seconds, or -- more often -- far less, to edit your post; replies filed under the wrong comment; comment pages failing to load thanks to 'server errors'; Digg itself running about a third to a quarter of its normal speed; etc) in v3 first before piling tons more on top of it?
- dankoleary, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4So all day I've been wondering, once Digg gets boobies, is there any reason now to keep my Totalfark subscription? Oh, and pleae please please, get Digg or Ultradigg for boobies.
- thorgrim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did they ever come up with a "real" name for this since they said they were sure about using DSOC. I thought "Swarm" was a cool one for something like this.
- jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*YAWN*
- ChaseLudwick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4the innovation in digg is really amazing this looks neat =]
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not so sure about those data visualization tools..
"Digg Incoming" seems like a live version of Cloud View. If the current Cloud View was able to dynamically update the font size based on the story's relative popularity, you would have the same information (plus you could see the names of the stories better, AND if your into the special effects, it would still look cool to see all of the stories "growing"). I dunno... maybe it's for people who like to watch their own submitted stories and now they don't have to obsessively hit the refresh button.
And "Digg Spy on Crack" just looks confusing to me. Would you really watch that for any reason other than to chuckle when you see a "fat digger" scurry around dugging stories? (from the digg v3 launch vid)
Can someone tell me how useful these new visualizations will be? Do you see yourself using these tools beyond the enjoyment of just watching a live updating bar graph?
Because, otherwise, I seem to be missing the point. - swhite1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Me.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ditto. I like the flower one. I could picture it with ant trail and stuff. :) Stories = food!
- reldren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ha ha ha! Wow! You really got me!
Fag. - D4V1S, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4dude, who HASN'T heard of DSOC?
- Celeron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Looks like something from flight control.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4It's massively multiplayer Diggtris!
In war-torn, Sino-Communist, Republican America, Diggtris stacks YOU! - nicho81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's for the digg junkies :o
- TiberiusDRAIG, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4@ reldren
Well he's getting a better deal than you, as you seem to have your head shoved firmly up your own arse. - Bloodwine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Honestly, content visualization seems like something a PHB would request. I can't see any real-world use for such a feature. If anybody can correct me then please do as I would honestly like to know. Even then, would this honestly be considered revolutionary??
- bluemansteele, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I really don't understand. The visualization features where said to be in "January" not in this (Digg 3.0) release.
- PAStheLoD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Anyway, impressive idea :)
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Excellent episode. and I couldn't believe how fast the torrent came in....it actally got up to 300Kb/s
(it was like a little taste of what it must be like to live in ...almost any country other than the US with our crappy slow internet speed.)
Now I'm just seeding it. - netMASA, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1looks like tetris sorta....without the 4 tile blocks and the various colors.
- ntwrkguy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3this will revolutionize digg. sounds like the creators of digg are gonna get their payday soon...:)
- Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5what about the flowers?
:( - reldren, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Yeah, the bar graph, that's a real ground-breaker.
Stop humping walruses. - digger_twit, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4What about the borsht?
- reldren, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0@dawgma
You're dumb, and you smell like walrus semen. - reldren, on 10/12/2007, -22/+4You've got a smudge of Kevin Rose's feces on your nose.
