- tysonhy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Hey! i'm featured on the picture!
- capn_caveman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Congrats to you... I'm sure that screenshot was intentional. You are a model digger.
- misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Tysonhy is a great digger to have as a friend...he submits great stuff (all tech related, I might add) and he routinely diggs different articles. I noticed some of his stuff a while back and dropped him a line via his blog and told him I'd add him as a friend...he added me back. It works even better when you actually know the person who you add as a friend, but some people don't have that luxury. [Sorry for the plug, Tyson]
The point is...all you people that complain of not having any friends...JUST ADD SOME. Pick someone who's comments or stories you like. The frontpage has that great new feature that lets you easily check what your friends are doing. After a while, you start to know what certain friends will be digging and what other friends will be digging, and it's really one of the very best parts of Digg. Just try it, it really makes the digging experience much more interesting!
Contary to how this sounds, I am not a paid endorser for Digg. ;) - Icecream, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6IF only I had Friends
Ill Digg for the conformists with friends - lavawalker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I don't think you can link back to digg when posting a main story.
- ddrirc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6You can no longer middle-click the items in Opera after you have a friend that dugg it though.
- CoSMoSYS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Haha, I was not aware of a 'Digg Safety Dance'
- rsteinke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yaknow what would be cool? If this feature connected related stories somehow. Like friends connected by a green line, or stories connected by a color code, perhaps even stories on the main page connected in some stand out way. Kinda like a mind map or a brainstorming web or something, like theyrule.net does with CEOs and companies. It'd be a neat way to navigate the site if their were a way to connect stories in that manner.
- kimzor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I use the cloud everyday, nice new friends feature.
Digg is growing! :D - Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Indeed - I'm pretty baffled why this basic feature is missing. Anyone?
- bradbeattie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is no doubt cool, but I'd rather see efforts put in to making the threaded conversations work. One level deep at most? Bad form.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Great feature. Now let's add one that /everyone/ can use, like colored highlighting of your own Diggs; the whole "add yourself as a friend" hack works, but totally destroys digg if you're actually have a friend and try to track their diggs...
- Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Won't this feature encourage frivolous digging of friends stories at the expense of others?
- Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2First order of business, get new friends :P Cause if your friends don't digg, and if they don't digg then they're, no friends of mine.
- richmastaplus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Umm I've had this feature for awhile now
- ThePhilomath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, that's the point I think
- kilps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't - but I added Kevin Rose a while back just to try out some new feature ... and havn't gotten arround to removing him ... and it is always interesting to see what the founder of Digg is digging ;)
- amed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2how do you make friends?
- ThePhilomath, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7I think this feature is pretty neat. Another great idea for getting good articles up to the top.
... and I beat kevin rose in reporting this,... i've got my duping button ready ... - Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I presume that the friends feature is intended to work similarly to the Slashdot feature - it allows you to mark people who's judgement you tend to agree with as a 'friend' and then use this as a way of highlighting stories you are likely to be interested in. Currently I don't find the friends feature very useful though.
More helpful would be the ability to comment on comments, any idea why Digg hasn't implemented this? The current pseudo-threading is pretty annoying. - Mischa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe this will stop everyone I know from asking me
"did you see that story on digg the other day...?"
Everyone in my immediate circle reads digg. There's no point in asking. I have almost stopped asking about anything new 'cause I know they read digg.
Have to go to suicidegirls or something to get some oddball news byte that isn't digg related to have something fresh to discuss. - blackthorn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is multiplaying allowed?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Please will someone add me as a friend..
I have none.
:( - renegade334, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Its a shame i have no friends within digg :(
None of my real friends are interested in anything to do with digg... maybe they're not real friends!!!
anyone wanna add me as a friend?
*Sigh*
I'm So lonely - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1By the way renegade, I added you as a friend!!!
- Gregd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sweet! This was something I suggested a couple of weeks ago..hehe
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm curious - how many people actually even make use of the friends feature? I only know two people who use digg and only added one of them as a friend. Also, digging articles just because a friend on your list submitted it seems like a less than optimal way of assuring great content makes the front page.
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1nice. digg grows
- samstr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I only have 1 digg friend :(
