- dominasian, on 10/11/2007, -4/+116very fun to watch
i think that, since it add a person every time the story is dugg, that it would be even cooler to have asteroids fall and destroy part of the building every time it gets buried ( or have someone jump out the side of the building) - BlackCow, on 10/11/2007, -1/+78You can tell this is the work of a programmer and not an artist :-P
Get some textures on the building and animate the stick figures :-) - growlzor, on 10/11/2007, -1/+59They should make one for buried stories, it could be like the ghetto
- rwallen, on 10/11/2007, -3/+60In firefox, most of the stories titles are getting cutoff on the bottom for me. The container boxes for the text aren't tall enough.
- Ngai, on 10/11/2007, -0/+54and when someone is blocked they beaten up by another stick figure(s)
- enclave2, on 10/11/2007, -3/+40Useful? No.
Did I leave it running for 15 minutes to see the city that was made? Yes. - madk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+36Same. Font is small too.
and center that *****. - apache2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28it looks like ass. I was expecting something a lot more artistic
- ElbridgeGerry, on 10/11/2007, -3/+30With SimCity 2000 music in the background, this is win.
- negtive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24Seriously. My eyes...the goggles do nothing!
- mattmcm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16The concept of the Digg contest obviously flew right over you.
dburka is submitting all ten finalists as stories so that you can Digg them here - http://digg.com/contest
Jeez. I wish people did their research before spouting off... - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Needs a thin outline around each building. When the stories are aligned vertically, they blend together into a solid grey block.
- zforrester, on 10/11/2007, -0/+131992 called. They want their graphics back
- masterc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11dburka is Diggs UI designer.
http://www.digg.com/about/daniel - quomen, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14I don't really get how this works...dont see anything getting bigger.
and the city is slightly ugly..
oh and it doesnt work on opera either. - rokinroj, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14"It should work the same in both."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! - insovietrussia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Same guy who did the textures for Spiderman 3 on the Wii me thinks.
- PleaseJustDie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I was going to digg it but with almost all the buildings being dark gray and the rest light gray all the buildings vanished into each other and it was hard to see. The buildings need to all have different colors and maybe a different camera angle, like maybe one from the side or make it adjustable.
- TenebrousX, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9You can criticize others when you turn off caps lock
- Nick22, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Guys, I dont think there is any conspiracy or some crap with this dburka guy. If you go to the digg contest page, you will see all the contestants have digg stories for their entry, and the most dugg ones will probably be the winners. It just seems that digg chose dburka to be the submitter of all those entrys. He probably works for digg
- JustLaNavigator, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Look there i go. Woohooo i made the building bigger.
- locd32, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I just thought about reinstalling Sim City 2000....
- mattmcm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Digg didn't make this. Your joke failed.
- zackkitzmiller, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Hey... Asshat. It's Digg's UI designer. He's submitting the API Contest Contestants.
- arjie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7The UI Designer for Digg perhaps? See above.
http://www.digg.com/about/daniel - cryptix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6great idea but looks kind of crappy compared to other modern flash work...
- wyclawek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I agree with the comments about obviously done by a programmer and questioning the overall usefulness in the long term. However, this has got to be the most innovative entry among the finalists. He could really do this justice by teaming up with an artist and expanding the idea a little more. (better textures, something better than stick men, the ability to see a little more than the top 10 stories) Still, for a relatively quick turnaround contest, it's not bad.
- themarq, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I have that too, also in FX
- TenebrousX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I thought they were hiding buries from users to prevent gaming digg
- su1man, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6thats horrible.
- advancedOption, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Idea is kinda creative. But ***** ugly.
Nice for a few minutes, but no one will ever use it. I'm shocked this got so many diggs. Democracy sux! - KrackMonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5My Mr. Spock logical magic 8 ball said it might have something to do with him being involved with running the API contest?
- VaporBro, on 10/26/2007, -0/+5I so want a bear to popout from behind one of the trees and drag a little stick figure guy off into the distance...
- 4815162342, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6They should put names on the stick figures.
- madk, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9It should work the same in both.
- Jinx..., on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Why are people digging this? Lets face it, the visuals suck. If the city were 10 times bigger and the 'buildings' actually looked like buildings. My vote goes to Digg Charts.
- monkeywaffles, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5hey tool.. (@slapmonkey, and others)
"Digg users now have a week to Digg the entrants that they like best. At the end of the voting period, we'll announce the first, second, and third prize winners in Digg Labs and on the Digg blog."
How else you going to vote on them on digg without having stories to digg? - spence3eb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4"It's a UNIX system! I know this!"
- Jurassic Park - theblt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Compared to the other finalists, this has the least innovation and design implemented. I can't believe it's going to win.
- mikew101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Hey my friend made this. An updated version is at flogby.com/digg
He works very had to make improvements. - thal3s, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I'm sorry, but this is just terrible.... :-(
- Kazrog, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6NOTHING WRONG WITH CAPS LOCK. NOTHING WRONG WITH ME. NOTHING WRONG WITH ME...
- Nick22, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Actually, to add to that. Yes he does work for digg. Go to Dburkas profile, you will see his name is "Daniel Burka". Go to the digg blog post ( http://blog.digg.com/?p=78 ) and you will see that Daniel Burka is the poster.
As a side note, I really wished I entered the contest now. The prizes are pretty kickass. - CKemendo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Haha. I just watched the DiggCity building get huge quickly.
- Harlem, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So so
- BlackCow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Please do us a favor and...

Remove your caps lock key! - newstart, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4News Just In:
"DiggCity is leading by a huge margin. Its almost 1000 diggs ahead of other entries. Graphic designers who have spent hours and hours to make their design visually appealing cant explain the phenomenon. On the other hand, adults who used to play Atari and program on a Comodore are getting nostalgic"
-Digg News Network - EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Agreed. This is very cool.
- popothebright, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Meh. I'd prefer a graph.
This is clever, but in no way 'useful'. - JustLaNavigator, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3http://diggcontest.com/diggcity/diggrotation.swf this will give you a teeny bit more of a clearance. Well done though, just a little room for improvement. But the idea is A1
