- allaboutdatiki, on 01/05/2008, -3/+172$1,199 for a 22 inch monitor? bwahahaha
- RadiantBeing, on 01/05/2008, -18/+116The Apple Cinema is the supermodel of monitors: Expensive, beautiful, and I'll never have one.
- ronk, on 01/05/2008, -2/+87Looks like a lcd monitor stuck onto a glass plate.. nothing ingenious about the design.
- dougmwpsu, on 01/05/2008, -2/+78this isn't that interesting, it's just a normal monitor with a Plexiglas frame bolted on. i could do this.
- Roger, on 01/05/2008, -0/+48Don't forget to krazy glue some ***** speakers on the sides.
- Conwaysb0718, on 01/05/2008, -2/+48"supermodel of monitors"
Does that mean it runs on cigarettes? - toe_head2001, on 01/05/2008, -17/+56That is the ugliest monitor I've ever seen.
- BLyn, on 01/05/2008, -5/+41it's nice, but dell's new 30" is nicer.
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Monito ... - Aidenf77, on 01/05/2008, -7/+41I still consider the Apple Cinema displays to be the pinnacle of aesthetic and functional quality. I think Dell would do better to offer one of their "Crystal LCDs" sans the speakers.
- xyzunit, on 01/05/2008, -19/+47A ***** ugly monitor at that.
- truspect0r, on 01/05/2008, -1/+27Who the hell reviews these ugly monitors?
A typical 22" Dell monitor, slapped glass and futuristic buttons doesn't make it beautiful or even a supermodel. As much as I hate Apple, I have to admit they know how to design and keeping things simple. KISS! - flyzipper, on 01/05/2008, -0/+26Two more problems from my perspective ...
1) The glass looks nice, but the extra wide bezel means these can never really be part of a dual monitor setup.
2) The style conscious types would might be tempted to buy one will be put off by the blue Dell logos (the small one on the front and the BIG one on the rear). - Typhoon2009, on 01/05/2008, -1/+21Needs more LED.
- Frostman3D, on 01/05/2008, -9/+28Ugly, Ugly monitor. The max resolution sucks too.
- truspect0r, on 01/05/2008, -3/+22I bet you drive a ricer saturn with blue cathode lights.
- CondoleezzaRice, on 01/05/2008, -3/+21Crystal Liquid Crystal Display? This is no good, I'm calling the redundancy redundancy police.
- HentaiJeff, on 01/05/2008, -1/+18and cowbell
- TomFrost, on 01/05/2008, -7/+24Flat-out proof that you've never used one. It's one of the highest quality screens on the market and dead/stuck pixel free with incredibly solid and durable construction, no moving parts other than the angling hinge, touch-sensitive buttons, built-in USB hub, heavy enough that bumps to the desk don't shake it, only one cord connects to the monitor and the connection is discreet and easily hidden.. No, it may not be worth the exorbitant pricetag, but it's just damn ignorant to say there's nothing different about it.
- Takran, on 01/05/2008, -8/+24So... it's like any other high-quality LCD panel? Except more expensive.
Hurray. - inactive, on 01/05/2008, -2/+18ok... so i'm not the only one who thinks it's butt ugly.
and get some real speakers too, i don't even know anybody who still uses speakers built into their monitor. - BenKenobi88, on 01/05/2008, -3/+16Got my Acer 22" for $170 on Black Friday...I feel much better after seeing this haha.
- LoungeActx, on 01/05/2008, -1/+13It doesn't even output at 1920x1200! What's with that?
- pegisys, on 01/05/2008, -0/+12There are a couple other 30" LCDs on the market that have the exact same specs. Matter of fact, they use the exact same panel as the apple display. Only thing that the apple display offers that competing products don't is the look
- elvenseven, on 01/05/2008, -2/+14They're marketing this monitor to the same people who drives this
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/9306/x1ple6x9i4 ... - electricyoda, on 01/05/2008, -3/+14Yuckers! Do people actually buy these things?
- drachemorder, on 01/05/2008, -0/+11That was exactly what I thought as well. Gimme some duct tape, a piece of glass, and a normal monitor and I'll do the same for about eight hundred bucks less.
- fluxion, on 01/05/2008, -1/+11seriously....we want ultra-thin bezels...not gigantic and unnecessarilly large ones...regardless of how "bling" they are. this monitor is the 22" spinnas of the computer world
- thirty6chambers, on 01/05/2008, -2/+11This is a monitor for people who bought the Halo edition of the Zune 1. And also people with terrible taste.
- cubicledrone, on 01/05/2008, -2/+10So this is how you compete with Apple? Polka-dot notebooks and plexiglas? Fail.
- Smooph, on 01/05/2008, -1/+9Fugly!
- DeathGod321, on 01/05/2008, -0/+8Don't make fun of my ass monitor.
- gm33, on 01/05/2008, -0/+7or some crappy tiny web cam
- mrsteve007, on 01/05/2008, -3/+10Everyone is dissing this monitor's price, but they seem to forget that this monitor *may* be one of the best on the market in terms of color rendering and refresh performance.
I've never seen a monitor that has a 98% color gamut or 2ms refresh performance - CRT or LCD. Those stats make the other Dell or Apple widescreens look like pieces of crap (the next highest color rendering from Dell is 92%, from what I can find, Apple's cinema displays are actually much lower than that) - slambert90, on 01/05/2008, -0/+6It looks like a regular dell monitor with a piece of glass placed over it and exposed speaker and power wires...Oh yeah, except for $1200 bucks...
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.a ... - sukkapunk, on 01/05/2008, -2/+8Dude.... a new monitor... lets post a new article about this everyday..
- MBX1, on 01/05/2008, -2/+8lame title. ugly pc monitor trying to be sexy. yuck.
sorry dell, but you've got no jonathan ive. - Lionhart, on 01/05/2008, -2/+7IT'S CRYSTAL LIQUID CRYSTAL!
- romistrub, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5Yeah... I'm not one to instinctively bash anybody (I have a Dell monitor and freaking love it) but... I'm not really inspired by this design. Too complex (I'm a *huge* fan of borderless designs). And build-in speakers are blech. I dunno, maybe I'd have to see it in person.
- krnldmp, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5Killer bass dude!
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -1/+6Search most 22" monitors and find the resolution is usually 1680x1050. The pricing is the most ridiculous thing about this monitor.
- mactarkus, on 01/05/2008, -2/+7Is this a joke? There's no way someone would design and produce a monitor that looks like this. Where's the hidden camera recording my reaction?
- likwidfuzion, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5Each Apple Cinema Display uses an S-IPS panel. You can't compare it to "any other widescreen." You'd be hard-pressed to find an S-IPS panel for a relatively cheap price these days. Out of all of Dell's current LCD monitors, only the 3007WFP and 3008WFP has an S-IPS panel.
- Hobbes24, on 01/05/2008, -22/+27...you know that the "cinema display" is just pompous ass language for "widescreen", and infact, there is nothing different about it than any other widescreen, right?
- rcw3, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4Holy crap that's ugly.
- Roger, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4Yeah, killer boots man!
- mrsteve007, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4Dell's specs from PC world:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,140934-c,lcd/art ... - zeejay, on 01/05/2008, -3/+7You can debate whether it's cool or not, but at least it's not a boring black slab like everything else.
But, bottom line, that is NOT $900 worth of added bling. I could see charging $500 or $600 for the thing, but $1200 is comical. Dell, as a vendor, is all over the road lately. - colonels1020, on 01/05/2008, -1/+5Awesome looking but WAAAY to expensive.
- cubicledrone, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3Dude, you should see Windows with like VGA drivers and stuff on this thing! It rocks!
- chesscat, on 01/05/2008, -1/+4Dell trying to copy apple. Why buy the imitation? Dell sucks, get a Mac.
