- jerem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I dream of this one with an USB input, so a very simple could change the colour regarding external parameters (the type of music i'm playing, a new mail arriving, the ambiant light taken from the cam, etc...) possibilities are endless !
- wizgha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Makes me jealous for all those who can understand a thing in electronics.
- fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He needs to show more details on what parts he used..
- LogicBomB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I understand electronics pretty well and can soldier and wire my way through simple schematics but when it started talking about PICs and programmers I got lost.
Is there a super-simple version of this lamp somewhere that does nothing more than change colors (and if possible to do the mail check through wi-fi but I HIGHLY doubt that's a simple task). - ActionJeans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1now THAT... is cool. I think I have a weekend project.
Thanks! - chetanw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool job - I loved it

Check out the waether beacon or Orb devices. No USB, but there's a SDK that can control it with a serial port. It can also be programed to respond to broadcast RF or Web input. - BeachSide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is a sweet lamp!
- contemporary, on 06/21/2008, -0/+0Beautiful lamp, I love this lamp, bought similar one for my wife.

- meg33k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2There was a guy who posted that he created a variant of this using a NSLU2 for the controller... I suggested another mod to use a USB mic into the NSLU2 to allow sound transduction into lamp behavior. That way you could make a real world visualization object for sound... The Mic would pickup ambient sounds and then change the Lamp's display to match based on the visualization algorythym... I figure that you could take one of the standard visualizations that suit the mood and rip the algorthm out and then mod it to output the variations to the lamp...
Heck; wired in parallel you could make a lamp 'light display orchestra' to sound! - smrt173, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Hey this lamp can be bought outside. But you made it! I want one too! (Could you give me the recipe) lol
