Photo Printer & Paper: $199.99
Photoshop CS2 (Legit copy): $599.49
Having a kooky photo that costs a total of $810.47: priceless- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3So someone's going to buy Photoshop and a printer just to make one of these?
Don't be pedantic. - majeo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Don't be malapropian either.
- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I wasn't. He is being anal about it though.
The point is most people will already have a printer, so it's not really going to cost $200 to them.
And the audience of Photojojo is likely to already have Photoshop, whether legally or otherwise... - clievers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1haha, lol. that's hilarious.

Digg is by far the greatest website in the history of the internet. Bringing such tight ass news like "Fake your friends into thinking you actually succeeded at something by printing off a photo and stapling it to an Etch-a-sketch".
These are the days I wish I didn't refresh my Digg RSS - ATH025, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0HOLY FREAKING WOW!
- bluearch, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0So how does it work? I mean, with an etch-a-sketch, you can just shake it and start over again? I'm sure this guy has a way of keeping his lines from being erased. How is that done?
- Hush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wtf are you talking about, it is a print fastened to an etch a sketch frame.
No science, no lines getting erased.

- GeneralKickass, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2WTF? Now this is lame.
- childprey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Am I the only one who had the title cut off by my RSS reader and assumed this was about Debian?
- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yea, that frame is a neat idea....
However why bother with a fake overlay, when you can program a robot to do the etching for you!!!

Now THAT is geeky!!! - z0l0pht, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well, isn't that just darling.
- alceria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am not digging that guy's hat.
- Zuzubar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course, if anyone gets the idea to shake the etch a sketch, they'll know something's up! :(

- clievers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So I have a question, would you just set the image/canvas size in photoshop to be 8"x10" then, since that is what the printout would be. Then you would just center your "sketched" image, which is around 7"x5". ???
If it were a 7″x5″ image/canvas, wouldn't printing it out result in it being "blown up" ??? I was thinking of taking the image to an instant photo printer like at Walmart. Thoughts on this? - susanBuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Clievers -
Make a 7" x 5" in photoshop, and when you print it - make sure its not set to "scale to fit. Then if you put a standard 8.5" x 11" piece of photo paper in your printer, it'll print the 7"x 5" and you can just cut the extra away. You'll need to trim it and not simply center the whole thing - because it'll be too wide to fit under the frame.
If you want to use a Walmart / store photo printer, also make a 7" x 5" file and print it as a 7" x 5" (or 5" x 7" as they'll call it)- clievers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks. I never even thought of that. I ended up creating an 8x10 image then putting a 7x5 photo in it. Then I cut the excess off. Stupid me, never even thought of the standard photo sizes, 4x6, 5x7, etc. LOL! Spent $5 on the 8x10 when it probably would have only cost $0.80 or so for the 5x7. Oh well, next time.
Anyways, I did two of them up last week. Not too bad. Need to work with it some more to get it even more "sketch-y". Still a little detailed right now.

- ecarter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I don't have Photoshop! What other programs can you use to do this?
- unitedstatians, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You also can use a image editor named Paint dot net designed for windows 2000/XP/Vista. You can accomplish plenty with it at your disposal.
