Creative Commercials You'll Never Forget

- MojoKid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23the Dove commercial was interesting and pretty realistic I do believe. :)
- tripm, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5i had forgotten that one.
- Monolith2, on 10/12/2007, -20/+4The Honda commercial was retarded.
"LOOK AT THESE PEOPLE MAKING NOISES WITH THEIR MOUTHS! BUY OUR CAR!!!1" - Evoguy, on 10/12/2007, -26/+5The Dove commercial was a gross exaggeration, not realistic at all. That girl still had ugly bone structure at the end, you can't hide that with any amount of makeup or digital manipulation. Real models begin with classically beautiful facial structure, and ideal facial proportions. Yes there's makeup and touchup, but you can't fake classical beauty. The Dove commercial tried to paint a worst case scenario, but you can tell real models are pretty to start with.
- z00k, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1133469620151974663 - This still is my favorite comercial of all time.

Bravia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1v5-MKWxxU&eurl= - Evoguy, on 10/12/2007, -27/+8Haha well while I'm getting dugg down, let me just point out that the entire premise of "every girl deserves to be beautiful" is BS. Physical beauty (which is what they are talking about) is rare, that's how it goes. Non-beautiful people might bring intelligence, inner beauty, or other things to the table, but no, not every girl deserves to feel beautiful on the outside, sorry, that's just how it is. Telling girls otherwise is just going to crush them later on when they finally realize life is wayyy easier for beautiful people. I think this ad is doing a disservice.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31The Firefox commercial and how they depict Internet Explorer is priceless.
- beanMosheen, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15You're getting dugg down because you totally missed the point of the video. Your view of beauty is shallow and misguided. it is the very reason women are so self conscious.
- seanherman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9In case anyone is wondering, the song from the Sony Bravia commercial (the one with the bouncing balls) is Jose Gonzales' "Heartbeats" off his album Veneer. The song was actually originally written by the Swedish electronic-bizzaros The Knife, and comes from their album Deep Cuts. Jose Gonzales uses an amazing finger-picking guitar technique in the tradition of John Fahey/Robbie Basho, and adds incredible songwriting to the mix. I saw him perform solo live, and along with Zero 7 on their latest tour, and it was one of my favorite performances in recent memory.
- sideral, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4@seanherman
Thanks for the info! Nice song. - webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Tsk... how can they miss the Guiness Evolution ad? That one is literally the best of all time...
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-3508243568549381115&q=guiness
I'm pretty sure it won a prize at Cannes too. - agooga, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2I liked the Dove and Bravia commercials, but frankly I could not get through many of these. I have TiVo and rent TV shows on DVD so I don't have to watch commercials.
And those that proclaim the modern television ad as a new form of art is an *****. I like art that doesn't try to sell me crap. - Renegade.eit, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8In case anybody was wondering, the first Sony Bravia commercial with the bouncy balls was done without any computer generation. I remember hordes of those little things as they were collected afterwards on my street.
- corvairkid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You know, those Honda commercials really don't make me want to rush out and buy a Honda. Same with that Toyota ad. Hell, that one's just creepy.
I think Jeremy Clarkson said it best with "All Japanese cars from the NSX right down to this Yaris have a mass produced feel. There's no sense of personality, no sense that it was made just for you. It's just an entry in a company's balance sheets. Europe has learned from Japan how to make a reliable car but they don't seem to have learned from us how to make something with a heart and soul."
Now try these Chevy ads from the 50's and 60's. What's the best way to see the USA? In your Chevrolet of course.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogq0zdW4gFo
Too bad it was only shown on one day: Jan. 1, 2000.
- rodtrent, on 10/12/2007, -20/+2Why is this in the Technology section?
- DJMajickman, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2umm maybe because it falls under graphic design. Most of which was done with computers. Therefor technology.
- therernospoons, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I'd hate to be the one standing at the bottom of the hill on the first commercial, ouch :(
- nksoccer13, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4The ads are very original but wtf this is like the fifth creative commercial story.
- samste, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15the xbox 360 ad is fantastic, i hear it got banned though. why?!
- edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7You heard wrong. It played in several countries for quite a while.
- zybch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Not in the US though, coz, you know, it might incite everybody to go get guns and shoot people (not that Americans don't do that already of course).
What an utter load of bollocks!! It is a great ad!!
But the f'ed up social do-gooders have their way all the time now!
"Think of the children!"
Bastards! - Essefgy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4That ad ticks me off. They stole the idea right out of "Spaced".
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1"Not in the US though, coz, you know, it might incite everybody to go get guns and shoot people (not that Americans don't do that already of course)."
Or it might inspire people to get along and have a little fun and work together (case in point):

Yup, the first gun draw is /exactly/ the same as the series.
- Travelsonic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17HeadOn... Apply Directly To The forehead! HeadOn... Apply Directly To The forehead! HeadOn... Apply Directly To The forehead! HeadOn... Creative yes, usually however creativity has the chance of being a pain in the ass.. erm.. head as HeadOn shows.- schabrat14, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5gah I hate that commercial....I want to punch the TV everytime it comes on....and just a small question....why does the lady with the headache look so happy....hello you have a headache.....stupid commercial!
- webcrumb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Heh, you should see the advert for HeadOn that was on UK TV. Compare and discuss. They're quite different. ;)
- hosiah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Trivia: The HeadOn commercial is worded that way so they don't have to back any claims about the product's effectiveness. I believe I read that in Wiki.
Look on the bright side... at least they don't make a stick application of Viagra. I'll leave the rest to your fertile imaginations...
- shaggtastic, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4I watched a couple of them. Meh. I've already forgotten them.
The VW commercials with actual crashes are good.
The Macintosh 1984 ad - now that's unforgettable. - zybch, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6At the risk of getting buried, we saw this less than a week ago on the front page!
And the week before that probably. - klasikahl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Pepsi was by far the coolest.
- Galaeron, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4The Xbox commercial never made it on TV. Someone canned it before it got aired. Sucks cause I thought it was pretty good.
- IHaveIssues, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Nope, it's good it got canned - plays right into Jack Thompson's hand.
- milarepa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11carlton ad made me laugh. i like things that make me laugh. therefore, i like this.
- ricree, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8In general, beer ads seem to be a lot better than normal. One of the best one's I've seen was a budweiser ad in response to the Miller referee commercials. Basically, it had a bunch of fake referees running from the police after stealing people's budweisers and replacing them with miller beer.
I also like the magic fridge commercials: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l1JUaT4jOs - TylerDurden0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree ricree. That was one of the best commercials of all time and a nice "up yours" to Miller's ad - directed at Budweiser. Learn your lesson and learn it well, you do not outspend The King.
- kohan69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2magic fridge! magic fridge!!

- edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I'd seen all but the folgers one. That was....odd.
- dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Sadly, my all time favorites aren't on there. First one is the old Snickers commercial, where the old guy is slaving away painting the Endzone for Arrowhead Stadium (home of the Chiefs). A player walks up (Derrick Thomas, I think), and says "Wow, that looks great... but who are the Chefs?" It's been well over a decade since it was released, and yet I still remember it.
The other is the old AmeriTrade (I think) Half Time commercial at the Super Bowl. Two hillbillies and and monkey clapping to some good ole boy music. After it was up, it said "Well, we just wasted two million bucks. Enjoy the game." - Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3My god I can't believe I had never seen the Carlton commercial before that was so amazing!
- rotten777, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3holy ***** the firefox one is hilarious!!! I've never seen it before.
was this user created or done by the mozilla organization? - undersky, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6dove commercial brought me to tears. you guys don't think it's real? does it really matter? the [unfair] way we treat women is real. how the male dominant soceity defines a woman's value largely by an impossible physical standard is real. how women as young as a preteen can start caring about plastic surgery is real. we should stop putting out emphasis on a woman's body because that is not better than racisim.
- trollORhumor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So long as there's no fat chicks advertizing beauty products, I'm cool with not photoshopping every face. Maybe use fat chicks in advertizing McDonalds- if truth in advertizing is what we're after.
- DanielNielsen, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I didnt remember any of them except one, and that was the Xbox 360 commercial, witch by the way rocks.
- OverDosis, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I must say that XBOX360 commercial was awesome, too bad they never ran it here in the US. I like the guy in the taxi on the phone telling the guy thats shooting him to "wait one sec" then he falls over dead on the horn... lol... awesome...
My reason for liking it that much is just because I wish that ***** would happen in real life. Can you imagine a shoot'em up game in Central Station with like 500 people all running around going crazy talking about "Pow, Pow, Bang, Bang"... Not only is it hillarious but its entertaining...
Come on, I know im not the only one that saw that XBOX commercial and thought, "Damn, I wish I was there... POW, POW... *ducks behind garbage can*"- dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It'd only be fun until this exchange:
Me: Pew pew!
Other Guy: You missed me
Me: BS, I got you in the shoulder and the stomach
Other Guy: I'm wearing bullet proof armor
By this point, someone will have walked up behind me and gone bang...
- dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It'd only be fun until this exchange:
- empeethree, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2WHERE'S THE BEEF??
that was back in the 80's and people from that era still remember those Wendy's commercials..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug75diEyiA0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN9oWRKrOsI- critic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0My personal favourite for all time was the Wendy's "Evening Wear" Russian Model Cat-Walk.
Every outfit the (overweight peasant woman) wore was the same, just the announcer proclaiming it to be everything from...Swimwear...Evening Wear.
If anybody as a RS or torrent to it, I'd be forever in your gratitude. I can't find it anywhere.
- critic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0My personal favourite for all time was the Wendy's "Evening Wear" Russian Model Cat-Walk.

- jbestrom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I still like the old VW Jetta commercial where the music went with the beat of everything. It was mostly showing off the windshield wipers. Man I miss seeing that one.
- RandomSkratch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1yeah that one gave me goosebumps whenever I saw it.
- sharpe27, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Here is the Jetta ad

Is that Nina Myers? - NuclearBunny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The song is Certamente by Madreblu
- PuffyC, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1What a beating. This is like ranking the worlds most likeable serial killers. Commericials and the nonstop barrage of mass marketing is one of the top problems in our country and I would be happy never to have to see another one again.
- mastertop, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Pepsi's ad is very nice, though it isn't so original. See : http://youtube.com/watch?v=-uLHqSpkScA
- ckrickett, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I must say that Folger's one made me giggle!
Shockingly this one wasn't on there and I think it should have been...
