Is that how you like your porn too? - addrake, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26You know, that really limits your internet experience if you require Shatner in everything you check out.
- sorrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10and it looks like there are no mirrors that caught it before it went up in smoke..

- andrewry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Has no one learned that not everyone that clicks on the link diggs it?
- VelvetoneFusion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9personally, I could only describe my porn collection as "Shat-tastic!"
- unununium272, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Smoke photography is really hard to do, but once you get it down, it makes for some amazing results. I got a lot of help from the forums over at www.fredmiranda.com. It takes an effort and some investment, but damn does it pay off.
- hipnerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Anyone can make abstract images with smoke. I'll be impressed when someone makes concrete, representational images with smoke.
Now THAT takes talent. - n808, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5digg.com : The Internet's largest voluntary DOS collaboration (I don't know why I can't stop myself)

Sooooo much better than the extremely asinine Graham Jefferey. - dpchi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3For now check out http://www.pbase.com/spydr/smoke to see some smoky images, but sorry, no tutorial there.
- quamb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you know - geeky as it is, some of the old episodes of x-files were really freaken good...
anyway, music done by same group/site. (ie visual & audio artist). - sunchild, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ironically, it looks like x-rays of throats and lungs.
- skotski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm thinking that with multiple speakers you could modify the smoke shape in three dimensions. Using greeater than 20hz (inaudible) with this kind of lighting you could create some killer phantasms and freak people out...
Someone try it out and post back here with the results. - stuf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh lawd, is dat sum Apophysis?
- mattc908, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3They've gotten DUGG
- AVision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those are beautiful! Thanks for the link! :)
- spyd3rweb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Next headline will be, 'create abstract images with a smoking server that got dugg'
- valkraider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Coral Cache is live and distributed so there is potential it could get it or get updated any time... I am not sure about duggmirror and when it will retry.
But I don't get why people don't just submit the coral cache link to digg or whatever instead of the regular link. Save the risk of killing the little site. - AVision, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bummed. I really wanted to check it out. :(

I have never seen such poor quality photos in my life. You must have taken those. - bakagaigin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@quamb
Sweet video! Have any idea who did the song? - gyneric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you mean 20kHz... sound is inaudible beyond 20khz. You will need quite a bit of power to create compressions at that frequency strong enough to displace smoke particles to a noticable (photographic) extent. Either lower frequencies (0-300hz) or a standing wave setup with multiple transducers may produce interesting results with smoke.
- tulpe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@stuf
hey your right! :P apophysis+ultrafractal - bofhcabbit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It got hit in quick succession by:

It's slow loading, but I can get it to load.
Oh and previously hit up on:
MAKE - http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2007/01/how_to_photogra.html
del.icio.us pop - http://del.icio.us/popular/
They've all got a photo or two saved from the site up there. - tulpe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1pah.. beat that ;)
http://atomar.de/no_smoking.jpg - OutcastJiob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@quamb: That video, while awesome, reminded me in some inexplicable way of The X-Files. Happen to anyone else?
- SDR1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I gave it a try as well after reading the article.. have a look at the results on my blog (I've added some explanatory text as well)
http://www.lumendipity.com/blog - valkraider, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3People are supposed to click on the link before they digg. That is where the acronym RTFA comes from.
Read The F%$ing Article
People who digg something they have not even looked at should be shot. Or at the very least, have their wrists slapped with a big wooden ruler.
But also, digg is not the only site on the internet (Gasp!)
The site was also posted on BoingBoing which is another high traffic blog. Probably others too... A site can be Slashdotted before it is ever Dugg, or Boinged before it is Farked... - hansondr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1duggmirror didn't grab it, nor did google or coral cache
- tyler0is0sexy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1
Q. How do you create your smoke pictures?
A. Firstly I should point out that the smoke is everyday grey. I have found joss sticks to be the best source of smoke. The smoke is side or back lit and photographed against a black background.
If I want the final picture to have a white background then the whole image is inverted, black becoms white, white becomes black, and grey's stay much the same. The colouring is done in Photoshop by selecting parts of the image with a highly feathered selection and adjusting the colour with hue/saturation or one of the other colour adjustment tools. - KelliShaver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I first saw this about a year ago and gave it a shot. It was fun. http://www.kellishaver.com/misc/smoke/
