- mtoigo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I implemented it with my picture gallery and it turned out looking pretty good
http://wompus.net/index.php?s=pics - curiouslyvague, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1erm, if you look at it, it is a drop down effect - not a gradient, and this method uses less markup and less graphics than the alistapart method. So this method looks new and really useful to me, why smack down the messenger when they don't fully understand the good news they bring...
- MikeZila, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That code is fugly. There has got to be a better way to do that.
This tutorial will get you there, but damn will it drag you down a painful road. - RichMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think that is cool
- cepher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1give this kid some slack...its a pretty neat tutorial...but all these other asswholes that make innapropriate posts dont realize that this is what digg is all about..., and that they shouldnt dislike articles that they already know about, but its very useful for those new to this world...
dugg it - shad0w, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Alistapart.com posted a better method than this ages ago.
- 404notfound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0[[ This effect also called drop shadows is what you see in some web pages when the background color fades from top to bottom ]]
Sounds more like a gradient—not a drop shadow—to me. - shad0w, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=shadows&x=0&y=0&sp-a=sp1002d27b&sp-f=ISO-8859-1&sp-p=All&sp-k=All

- ChippyLasticko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry - my remarks in the 1st comment in this thread are related to a nasty "What is CSS and why the hell should I Care?" comment that was before my comment but now is removed.
I think the "shadows" as crude as they look are not all bad. - JohntB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The description the submitter gave is incorrect: drop shadows are those shadow-like areas that are to the right and bottom of an object. In Windows XP (and probably OS X), there's probably a drop shadow on your mouse pointer. This web site does show drop shadows, however.
- jingles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is a gradient NOT a drop shaddow you drop kick! Get it right FFS!!
Gradients like drop shaddows are still cool IF they are used right. Ranbow gradient are just plain evil tho!! Gradients & patterns = - curiouslyvague, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mind you, the ie6 fallback could be bit prettier...
- ChippyLasticko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Clearly, you know nothing about web design or HTML page styles. In the future google it before asking dumb questions with inappropriate attitude.
+Dig - autok2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Drop shadows were awesome in 95! Move on people, Jesus Christ.
- cuntface, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Welcome to 1.5 years ago.
- doofus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1drop shadows. how boring.
- kyle133, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0have a look at this...
http://www.milliondollarhero.com - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I just started getting into HTML, CSS and stuff and I think this is pretty cool, at least from where I'm at -- a beginner.
