- KicktheDonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13You sir, are lame.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That is a good resource to use for site layout using CSS... NOT design with CSS
- mjar81, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14For a site touting the wonders of CSS, it sure is ugly!
- kirkio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10This is a very old, but great resource. I highly recommend it.
- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Well, it's meant to be tutorials for CSS layout, not design. This site has been up since 2001 or so, when pretty much everyone was using table-based layout, whether because of necessity or lack of CSS knowledge.
The point of this website was/is to increase awareness of CSS layout techniques. - cremate, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Its good for a very basic start. When you actually make some of those designs though, they come out rather ugly. Its better to use something at http://www.oswd.org/ as a design aid.
- colbymulkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7CSS stuff makes it to the front page because people digg it. That's the entire idea behind the site. Just because you don't find CSS stuff interesting doesn't mean that others don't. Get over it.
- zeptobyte, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Ugly, but still well-designed. It's organized, clear, and easy-to-use.
- gambl0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6one column? As in, place text in a single p/div/whatever tag? Not too difficult!
- danshields, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah this was a great site a couple years ago when i was first getting into layouts with CSS but I think it needs to be updated, but at the time it was the only site that had all these layouts and was easy to understand. I'm not sure why someone would post this now when there are much more up to date sites like PIE
- shucklak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why does so much CSS stuff make it to the front page of digg? I'm serious here, I'm not trying to start a debate here or anything (ie, see Mac vs. PC) but it seems like a lot of CSS stuff makes it to the front page. Plus, CSS is really easy. How come we don't see as many C++ or Assembly stuff. Hell, throw in some Fortran for a change.
- porter235, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4To see the beauty and power of CSS visit http://csszengarden.com/
- CaseyUCF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the purpose of this article isn't so you can design a site that will end up looking like that visually.
it's just there to provide you with the skeleton framework for creating your design. - DoubtingThomas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Used it in the past. It is a great resource even if it is a bit dusty.
- NikZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Grr. Stoopid buggy comment script :P
- NikZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This site might be helpful:
http://www.jakpsatweb.cz/css/css-vertical-center-solution.html - bball2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very old source, but once again highly reccommended. I probably learnt css by playing around with there source code way back in the day =)
- Inglorion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree with most of what's already said; old, but good.
- NikZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This site might help you:
http://www.jakpsatweb.cz/css/css-vertical-center-solution.html - j4s0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this one's old, but hell I'll digg. this site helped me on my CSS journey.
- photojunky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this might be a dumb question - why do these articles not demo some sample styles for form elements? do they not come under CSS or are they completely categorized under 'beautifying'?
- javierror, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1one of the links (Dynamic Ribbon Device) takes me to a site with Minotaur porn. ummm....NO.
- danshields, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Because XHTML, CSS, AJAX, DOM1 and 2, RUBY on Rails, and all that is the stuff changing the way the web works and behaves. not C++ or all that. Which I'm sure a lot of people on here love to talk about but its all about what is HOT out there!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2oh oh oh oh very true. move over old ways!
- plasticmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very good point. I do CSS design all the time, and anyone who's spent a day with CSS knows this stuff.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1good resource, bookmarked it for future reference.
- pixelfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Almost all my web pages use *very heavily* modified source from this site. It actually taught me most of the CSS I know.
- gattomatto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've found a lot of good CSS resources, but no matter what resource I find, I still can't find an answer to the question, how do you vertically align text of unknown number of lines and length inside a nested div. I've found some tutorials that almost get it but not really... Is there anything out there??
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Good stuff, I love anything step by step that spells everything out.
- zlyoga, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Very old. But I love this site a lot. I use it in my web design class as a refrence for the students. It's a great base for starting out
- TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Exactly, CSS isn't about beauty, it's about standards and organization.
- dkarlson, on 10/12/2007, -9/+8What's with this? daodkwoakdoakdoawdkoadkowdkto
$3750 for each link submitted? - kasted, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1why are 3 colomns the "Holy Grail"
I always thought 3 colomns was easier than 2 or 1 - SpookyET, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3This is so old. Damn newbs. Look at the date. If it's older than 3 days, we've seen it. That said, this site is from 2000 or 2001.
