- lordelric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1very cool
- Dispersion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1CSS isn't really overrated, it's great. The major downfall is that different browsers decide to display the same code differently, so it's a gigantic chore to get your layout to appear properly.
And as different browser brands doing it weren't bad enough, your layout breaks using older browsers also.
If CSS was uniformly displayed on every browser and if you could write off the small amount of people using outdated versions of IE it would be awesome. Until then.. - jianshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks weird on ie ;(
- r3zonance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice stuff, pity they look completely sh!tty in IE.
Really, Microsoft have a responsibility to proliferate the acceptance of these standards cos of their unique market position.
But instead they just completely flaunt them, and do their own (alleged) "innovative" thing. - Brutal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, how old is this?
"Tested on Mozilla Firebird" - redguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If any invalid html would give a "syntax error" preventing it from displaying, the web would be a nicer place.
CSS is cool, CSS3 is even cooler, the problem is that the technology is here but it's badly implemented or not implemented at all (css3) and we have to wait YEARS to become usable in most browsers. - acherion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some of this stuff isn't 100% CSS compliant -- I've just upgraded to OSX 10.4.3 which has the version of Safari that passes the Acid2 test, yet some of the effects on this site don't load up properly or behave as they should. Who's at fault -- Safari or the website?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What would be useful is a collection of cross-browser CSS tricks.
- xodex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love opera
- Canned_Heat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All I can say is should we trust a guy to teach us coding who, himself, cannot get his own website page to be consistent across browsers - specifically firefox and IE?
- merce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love that background effect
- akinhepu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Drop-downs on the Horizontal Nav Demo page didn't show up for me. Safari Version 2.0.2 (416.12)
- ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i love firefox
- unholy1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Correct me if i'm wrong about this, but isn't the "32-bit PNG degradability" fix just replacing the "transparent" background with a single colour (i.e. white)?
Wouldn't this still look ugly in IE on a gradient background? - .Steven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice work. :)
- freakystyley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A most excellent post, genxian! Kudos!
- WorldBuilder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The "Horizontal Navigation List" code is a blatant rip-off of the Suckerfish menu.
But it's a nice site with good info anyway. Dugg. - SirThom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome!! I love the background, too. =)
"looks weird on ie ;("
I wonder why, IE SUCKS at CSS! =P - enzochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty cool site.. looks nice
- rapidisimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well the horizontal navigation, dunno about the rest.
- andr3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This website has been around for ages. I remember seeing it when i first discovered Firebird (now Firefox), one of the early versions. It was the first website i saw that used this background trick. I think i can say this website was what convinced me of the powers of CSS. This and CSS Zen Garden.
Anyway, digg for rediscovering it. I had lost it.. couldn't remember the url. :-P - rapidisimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice but they don't work on Internet Explorer - IE -
Works on Opera and Firefox - rydawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Wouldn't this still look ugly in IE on a gradient background?"
unholy1 (0), IE is just plain ugly, period
Nice site, btw - standsolid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not the best code, but that background on the first page impressed me on first glance, for sure
- T-Bird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good Site! I like how digg posts these guides to various web programming guides...they're pretty helpful.
- Vitaliy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Too many CSS and web design blogs and resources out there.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0css is overated... the site looks like every other css site
